thanks for making this video, i have 4 pot calipers and usually i'd just get reman ones but they are no longer available so had to go this route, first time rebuilding calipers and glad a video like this exists! i didn't cut the rings that hold the boot on but they seemed to clip on well enough so didn't worry about it but i can see what you mean in the video about them wanting to come off. I just spun mine a few times and the sat in place pretty well
@@IconGarage no worries if i wanted to watch exciting i'd just watch mazzei formula 20B FD all day haha. I figured my calipers needed to be rebuilt though, after track days, drifitng etc there would be no brake dust at all on the wheels so i figured the pistons were sticking, after removing them when i used the air to pop the pistons out one of them was stuck pretty good so glad to have got down to the problem. Going to finish the other caliper tomorrow and should be good to go
... The 4 little flat o rings, are for the bridges, you will see, once fully dissembling the Calipers into two parts !. ... (My bad, someone already stated ,two years ago 🤭)
Second and still love ya bro. Let’s see this car completed. From a dad of 7 and a car lover. I understand time for projects , work, baby and wife duties.
Just did mine ,50 up to 150 those pistons didn't budge had to split the caliper and pit thr piston tops in a vice and work them out. Don't think these were even working. Great videos
I followed the factory service manual on the rebuild and that is how it was intended. The grease is likely just a little something to lubricate the seals. Brake fluid is probably what I use on most rebuilds. The pink grease came with the new seams. Can’t use a lot or any type of grease as it could end up tainting the fluids.
I’m not sure on that. Rock Auto may have OEM replacements cheap. Otherwise, I would ask around on your local market place to see if anyone has a used set they would be willing to part out.
Much better edited video, still had a few places where you repeat yourself that could have been edited out, and at the end you say you're not going to go into all of the painting stuff(so we don't get to see it) and then you go into the painting stuff while not showing us. I feel it'd been better if you just had shown us and then say the same things you did here, while on a time lapse or something of the painting, or just omit all of that entirely. Overall though a VAST improvement keep it up.
Thank you. I had edited this video over the weekend but went back over it yesterday after all of the comments I have received over the past 48 hours. I rewatched this video earlier and noted half a dozen times I repeated myself. During editing it wasn’t as obvious to me. I relate it to proof reading your own writing and you are not as likely to pick out your own mistakes.
Yeah absolutely. Creating content itself is an art and you never can start off knowing what to do, you just learn bits and pieces over time incorporating each thing into your videos from there on out, and polishing them as skills and getting better. It takes time though, but this is a huge first step!(or 8th or where ever you're at on that)
Definitely the way to go. Powder coating isn’t super expensive to do your self or have a local shop do it, but I would say for most, painting is more accessible (and cheaper).
Been sick the last couple of weeks with sinus infection... seriously. I’ve been working on the FD though. Made an offer to buy the next project car. Been doing things behind the scenes. Hoping to get back into creating vids this week/weekend. Lots left to do!

Awesome! It isn’t the most exciting content but I wanted to be detailed enough to help those tackling a brake rebuild.

Nice work, as always taking time to do the little things correctly is going to result in an awesome finished product
Doing the fronts and rears on an FD in the next couple days. Thanks for the videos.
Great work, much better video length as well. keep it up 👍👍👍
Good work man, keep it up!!
good work! getting better!
Liking your attention to detail! 👍

Why do you use grease to lube rear caliper pistons when installing but on fronts you use brake fluid? Which is correct?

The little springs are for the two half of u need to bore the sleeves
Piston is Aluminum or iron sir
Where can I buy FC 86 to 91 4 pot Pistons? I have a cracked one and bought the rebuild kit but need a new piston.

How about powder coating the caliper... the process is fairly easy if you buy the good kit and own and old oven

Ya another brake video
Last one.
