I keep seeing keto recipes made with eggs. I’m egg free & gluten free, so I was thrilled to find this video. A lot of gluten-free breads sold at stores are made with cheap starches, white rice, cheap oils & a lot of sugar. Can’t wait to try these healthier bread and bun options. Thank you. 😊
after a whole week of searching for a coconut flour, no eggs recipe, I finally found yours. Thank you so much for this, I just made this yesterday and it suits my taste palate perfectly, thank you so much, i can't say it enough 😍😍😍😍💯💯💯💯💯
Exactly what I was looking for! No grains, eggs, or nuts! I have autoimmune that gets triggered by those ingredients but my body doesn’t view coconut as a nut! Thank you!
Oh My Gosh ... Vegan and low carb .... my heart is singing. My 33 yr old son and I live together, I am diabetic (62) and watching every carb and I try to integrate his food and mine all the time. I will definitely try this in the next few days and let you know how I go.
Thank you for the recipe Janet! I am amazed how unnecessarily rude and lazy people can be in some of the comments 🤯😲 I've just made the bread recipe and divided it into 4 burger buns, it behaved EXACTLY as yours did in the video and your description, very happy. Great way to use up my coconut flour as I'm no longer doing keto, but don't like it to sit in my pantry going off!! Thank you from New Zealand xx
Thank you very much only you made the right coconut bread I saw and I made this bread from other video and they are not right to use pure coconut flour
@@galinageorgieva8554 i dont think you pay attention to any bread any one eats in the usa thats processed. i mean thats the point of this channel , 'genius' ;)
In this recipe you can use ground flaxseeds in place of the psyllium husk powder but make sure to let the dough sit for at least 10 minutes after it is all mixed together so it can absorb the extra liquid. Also, you may need to cut back just a little bit on the liquid.
I don’t know if it’s because I tried making this into a loaf instead of buns, the middle was chewy. So I thought to slice and toast but it remained chewy. I couldn’t eat. Don’t know what I did wrong
To make this into a loaf you would need to bake this at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until a tester comes out clean. Then you need to let the loaf sit in the pan at least 20 minutes to finish "cooking" Also after you mix your dough together make sure you let the dough rest for at least 10-15 minutes before shaping it into the loaf pan. This is VERY important so the ingredients can soak up the extra moisture
I preslice my bread before freezing it. Then when I'm ready to use it I take out however many slices I want and defrost them on the countertop for about 5 minutes
Yes you can use flaxseed meal just make sure to allow the dough to sit at least 10 minutes once it is all mixed together to absorb any extra moisture. Also you might want to decrease the liquid just a little bit.
I have not tried this in an air fryer but generally most bread recipes can be made in an air fryer. You will have to adjust the temperature and the time
Janet, can I use olive oil instead of butter? I’m very sensitive to dairy 😥. I don’t really like the flavour of coconut oil so wondered if olive oil is an alternative ingredient.
Thank you.I am very glad you are enjoying my channel. Yes you can use olive oil instead if butter, just keep in mind olive oil is not a neutral flavored oil so it may leave a little bit of a taste
Just noticed this in my feed, can't wait to try it! Thank you. By the way I think you have very attractive hands, I noticed from the video. (Not to be weird or anything, it's just something I always notice in videos 😊)
In my experience baking powder works best with coconut flour but you can use baking soda instead. You will only need 1 tsp of baking soda instead of 1TBS of baking powder. You will also need to add a little apple cider vinegar to activate the baking soda.
I'm so excited to try these! Every time I get a recipe up it has so many eggs, which I wouldn't mind if it didn't taste so eggy. It tastes very very eggy for me. Psyllium husk powder is a bit out of my price range for long term though. Do you (or anyone) know if xantham gum is a good substitute for these?
For small amounts of psyllium husk powder xanthan gum can be substituted. As a general rule you would half the amount for xanthan gum. For this recipe the best substitute for psyllium husk powder is flaxseed meal. The texture will be slightly different but will still taste good.
It's really up to your personal taste. I would start with 2 TBS of lemon juice and go from there. Keep in mind that since lemon juice is a liquid you may need to slightly reduce the water by a few tablespoons.
@@JanetsDeliciousLowCarbKitchen thanks. I had the hardest time finding a vegan coconut lemon bread recipe. Now I have two to experiment. The other one is on a whole food plant based channel.
The burger molds just help keep the ingredients together in a uniform shape for even cooking. Without the mold the buns may not keep their shape as well
Hello! Thank you so much for all your recipes, can use other fibers instead of psyllium husk? Also is there a difference if I find use whole psyllium husk? Thank you
If you don't have psyllium husk powder you can use finely ground flax or chia seed meal. Yes there is a difference between whole psyllium husk and the psyllium husk that I use. Finely ground psyllium husk powder will give you the best taste and texture. If all you have is whole psyllium husk you can put it in a coffee grinder or food processor and process it until it is very fine then sift it through a mesh strainer to make sure there are no large pieces
I made your coconut flower bread and it was so god awful I couldn’t get it down and reminded me of rather something I take it out of the trash. Sorry to say such things but is there anyway I could take your recipe and alternate different things in it to get it to taste better?
This bread contains psyllium husk powder which definitely has a very strong flavor. You can substitute ground flax or chia seeds for the psyllium husk powder. If you do this you'll need to reduce the water buy a few tablespoons. Also check out my "Low Carb/Gluten Free Bread And Pasta" playlist I have several bread recipes however most contain eggs
If there was just a small amount of psyllium husk powder than yes you can swap it out for xanthan gum. However since this recipe calls for 1/4 cup psyllium husk powder the best substitute is finely ground flax seed meal. Hope this helps
Good job !! I liked when you said, cocoanut flour doesn’t rise much - because I made 1 cup coconut flour, 1 cup whole wheat flour and 1 cup white flour ! And other ingredients. I was a bit disappointed, it came out heavy, but still edible !! The bread looked flat, not round on top ! But I’m learning !!! You said ! Use psyllium husk powder - what is that !! Would stores carry that powder !!
Psyllium husk powder is a fiber found in the husks of a shrub/herb plant called Plantago ovata that is ground into fine powder. Most grocery stores carry it in their natural food aisle. You can also order online. There is a link in the description. In this recipe you can use finely ground flax seed meal instead of psyllium husk powder. Psyllium husk powder has a very strong taste and if you're not use to it you may not like it
This is a very moist bread. If you'd prefer you can substitute the psyllium husk powder for 1 TBS of xanthan gum. If you do this reduce the warm water to 1cup plus 2 TBS plain yogurt. If it seems like your dough is not holding together after it has set for 10 minutes then add VERY small amounts of xanthan gum and water until the dough holds its shape
Yes you can take the hamburger bun recipe and bake it in hot dog bun molds instead of hamburger bun molds. The hot dog bun molds I use are the same ones I use for my 6 inch sub sandwiches
Wow finally an simple easy bread. Not gums and stuff. No headaches thank you
