Bedrock has an option to increase “simulation distance” which if maximized, can be the same as Java. So when you said that bedrock has higher render distance but there are less chunks where ticks are active, can be changed.
yeah i hate how they pull stuff out of their a** and dont even know if its true
Ehh this is still not entirely true. While it is possible to reach 12 chunk sim distance on bedrock, it forms a (roughly) diamond shape. So 12 chunk sim distance on java loads twice as many things as 12 chunk sim distance on bedrock. Also, realms (good luck using a normal server to play with your friends on console) are strictly limited to 4 chunk sim distance. But it looks like they're making efforts to change that last part, thankfully.
But that being said bedrock also gets random ticks (and ice generation) across all loaded chunks, and redstone is far less likely to break on chunk borders.
@@rubixtheslime you can still play normal servers on consoles. Just, you need to adjust a few technical things
@@ktrain2201 yeah we've been using a server for a while now actually lol. Turns out a single Dell latitude (a business laptop) from 2006 seems to out-perform realms. Though I still wish they added native support.
They just added simulation distance to java :O
Java- For content creators, and more technical/dedicated players.
Bedrock- For casual players who just want to play Minecraft
Edit: To clarify, a lot of people in the replies are shouting "There's content creators on Bedrock too!!1!1", yes I'm aware. This comment was made to merely point out what versions are best optimized for what- Bedrock for its easy multi-player, perfect for casuals and Java for its nearly unlimited capabilities and customization options.
Exactly! Thats the main point of this analysis :))
Plus there is so much overlap between the two. Minecraft is just Minecraft in the end.

Also Looting sword are in effect
Its not a bug when you realize that an arrow shot at a block above a mob then dropped when that same block is destroyed does damage. In bedrock the trident killer os more logical.

Very good video, but I have to add something in the multiplayer/server part.
You can also host a bedrock server yourself the same way you'd do it with java.
There are also many softwares for the server with plugin support and different language support (Pocketmine = PHP, Nukkit = Java, MiNET = C#, Dragonfly = Go, etc)
Biggest thing I love about bedrock is ticking areas. It allows you to have 10 4 chunk areas that run all the time. So far the only thing that doesn't work with it seems to be mob spawning.
How do you do that? Is it some kind of server command and you set the chunks or...?
Reason i ask is we have this bonemeal generator that works by keeping a sand block with kelp planted on it in basically 2 states at once with a sticky piston. But this means the whole thing relies on the chunk that its in being loaded and running because if it unloads at all, when loaded back the sand won't be in its correct state of perpetual movement between the two states. To fix this, the generator needs to be dismantled a bit and reconstructed such that we can turn it on again.
So basically what happens is we'll get it going, walk like 30m away to check our furnaces and then come back and the whole contraption has stalled and needs surgery to be started again. Super annoying.
But if we could elect a chunk that is loaded on the server and set it to be permanently online, then that would fix everything 😂
Bedrock has more glitches which means more exploits.
truee, and exploits can be fun to mess with. but theres also some glitches that hurt the gameplay experience, like crashes. they don't happen much, but they do frequent more than Java

@@FizzyBanger speaking of exploits, there is an smp series in bedrock yt community called Xploits which is basically the bedrock equivalent of sci-craft, you should check it out
You make some good points. But quasi connectivity was considered a bug at first in java redstone but so many of the community made use of it so rather than face a massive backlash and potentially lose a part of that free promotion you mentioned, they were forced to leave it in the game. Hence why the bug tracker has been changed to say that it’s working as intended.
I would go so far as to say that Bedrock redstone works as the devs intended. Think about it. Players were never meant to get up on the nether roof, let alone build up there! Which is why the devs made sure that it’s not possible to build up there on Bedrock as that is what was intended. But they can’t take it away from the java community now because again like with the redstone, they know they will lose players that freely promote their product. Same goes for the redstone differences, which is why quasi is not in Bedrock.
But like you say, play the version that makes you happy, that’s what Minecraft is all about 😃
ok but if you do something that people like even tho it is accident, isnt that good
Your right :)

I’ve had played both Java and bedrock. I’ve had two survival worlds that got super late game one on Java and the other on bedrock. Java I made huge farms for stuff and redstone contraptions. Bedrock I duped and used glitches for stuff and building was way better. I love both versions of Minecraft because I like duping and exploiting stuff and doing technical stuff. I go to bedrock for glitches and better building and I go to Java for great redstone and farms. There are some cons to both versions bedrock can get very laggy for me personally and glitches that are not beneficial can happen. Java‘s cons are the combat sucks in my opinion and none of the cool bedrock features.

A possible reason for the lowered render distance of java is to do with your pc itself. With a better pc it could easily run 22 at 60fps
Completely correct
Everyone gangsta untill Mojang tells that they are making both of the versions identical ;)
They said they want to achieve 100% parity
Hopefully that doesn’t mean Java gets microtransactions, I despise those. I like my free skins, maps and mods. If it wasn’t for that stuff I would’ve switched to bedrock long ago
@@whygoogle5977 yes the marketplace is bs
I don't want them to be the same personally, cause then there's a reason to play both.
Also as long as Axolotls are in both they are both the same game already the best one that has existed.
Fizzy I want your honest opinion, in terms of combat, which version do you prefer? I want to know whether you like cooldown times on weapons rather than being able to infinitely spam left click.
well I've kinda grown to like the cooldown times, cos it paces combat a lot better. It also adds more playstyles, with axe and sword play being different. Altho I still like Bedrock's combat, I'd prefer Java anyday.
I'd prefer java editions combat mechanics but I'd prefer playing bedrock edition. So I hope later they add a combat update to bedrock too
i prefer 1.9 java pvp mechanics. it makes the game more balanced like, axes are stronger but theyre heavy af making it slower to damage your opponent. with swords, its lighter so it becomes faster yet weaker.
Oh god do not start up the 1.9 vs 1.8 war oh no
I just started on Java and I just hate that there are two versions and they can't focus on one. They could if they had full parity, which is probably impossible by now.
bro you are right in all of the topics except one in Bedrock edition my GPU usage was at 2% cpu 3% and the ram consumption at 400 mb in java though almost every component was thermothroteling my CPU usage was AT 70% only for Minecraft the GPU AT 87% and the ram usage was set on 3gb and I was running at 50fps at most (Ryzen 3 GTX 1050 ram 12gb ddr4)
for the performance test you should have done bedrock on pc and java with the same specs, because i can get around 100-140 fps with 22-24 render distance on java.
For me on the newest version on both I get low but steady frame rate on max render distance, BUT on java I have to wait for things to load if I crank it. Thats 72 chunks on bedrock vs 30 something on JAVA (been playing mods so I forget). Bedrock defently runs better when considering render distance. But the Trident killer farms are so efficient that it may start to lag do to the shear amount of entities that can exist. I got a Iron farm, an expanded gold farm, a villiger trading hall and a sugar cane farm. If I postion my self to AFK all 4 the trident killer generates enough XP orbs in about 5 minuets to start lagging the game (the hopper system doesn't seem fast enough to pull the items out fast enough but the lag stops when I collect the xp)
@finler ram is that with or without optifine?
@@ItsTeaTimeCommentary use sodium/(iris+sodium) +lithium+starlight dude you get way more fps

To quote Navy Nexus, a popular technical bedrock player, "bedrock redstone isn't bad, it's just different."
As one of the people who's working to understand the technical side of bedrock, honestly I find technical java almost boring at this point. But I especially hate how so many java players complain about differences in bedrock without realizing how that change can be used.
So many people complain that there's no Quasi-Connectivity in bedrock, but conveniently leave out Soft Inversion because they either don't know about it or don't realize how useful it is. I'd even argue that SI is _more_ useful than QC, as it never gets in the way. If you play both with and without QC for long enough, you'd realize that it doesn't actually help a lot more than it hinders. But SI is never detrimental, and compacts so many things that can't be compacted on Java (such as item filters and SR latches).
People also complain about the inability to bud pistons. Once again, piston budding breaks almost as much as it helps. Can you make a flying machine that doesn't break when flying into unloaded chunks? You can on bedrock!
And then there's the railstone. Railstone is much slower on bedrock, and rails can't be budded. But rails became popular on java because redstone dust causes extreme amounts of lag. That lag is not present on bedrock, so how bad is it really all that bad that railstone is slower when we don't need it in order to not crash the game?
Same story with block dropping. Yes it's useful, but it also breaks things. Try doing technical things for a year or two without it and you'll realize just how annoying block dropping can be.
Same story with comparators and two tick pulses. Breaks a few, helps a few.
And that's not even getting into the bedrock exclusives, like trident grinders, C and P pulses, force ticking lava, mobs take fall damage if entering and immediately exiting a minecart, and faster piston bolts.
And in my opinion some of the java exclusives make it a little boring sometimes. Intricate system that tricks ghasts or creepers into blowing up the farmed blocks vs use the same old duplication machine to get infinite TNT. Design new flying machine dedicated for a given task vs use the exact same 6 blocks every single time.
If you read the whole thing, congratulations.
I did read this all, and in hindsight, I could've used this really good insight when making my video. I haven't even heard of Soft Inversion, but from doing a quick search of it online, its really got some great capabilities. I should have made the point that wanting Java and Bedrock redstone parity is unreasonable. In fact its probably preferred to have two different sets of redstone mechanics to stoke more creativity for technical players.
By the way, thank you for this comment. You took a lot of time into it, and I appreciate that :)
@@FizzyBanger some parity is good, but I definitely like the diversity. There's a reason I didn't mention movable block entities, it's confirmed that is eventually coming to java. Sorry I was a bit negative, I was a bit tired at the time, and also used to most people immediately jumping to flaming. I'm glad you appreciate it!
I’m not sure if it’s just me, but bedrock edition, when i played it, was absolutely plagued with bugs and lag, mainly why i have switched to java. Plus there are so many things that are a lot easier and more efficient on java then on bedrock, mainly auto farms.
Bedrock is hardcore. Tons of bugs, unreliable redstone, and strong af wither.
I was waiting for someone to bring up the wither
it always happens
we get the bugs, good and bad
Why does the wither have twice as much health
Mm the redstone there is better than java lol
@@pawned0645 how is it better u can’t do half the stuff u can in java
It's not "unreliable redstone". It's just different from java.
I personally prefer bedrock edition, everything is a lot more difficult but it’s worth it to be able to play with my mobile friends :) ...and I like the poses on the armor stands
i wish we dont have to get datapacks or mods to do that on java... :(
hey Fizzy i think you missed this but bedrock has auto trident killers for mob exp farms with witch 100% afking exp can be achieved. I hope you consider this :). Just hold any mending item and exp will automatically come to you at mob farms
I had started playing Minecraft Pocket Edition many years ago on my iPod when the nether reactor was in the game and back then the game was much smaller, so deep down I had always found myself looking up to java as the ultimate Minecraft version as I never had access to a computer that was able to run it. even these days as bedrock caught up to java, a lot of bedrock players play bedrock because they don't have the luxury of choosing the version. But finally after switching from console to pc I had the chance to play java and after playing it for a couple of years I tried having a go of bedrock and was shocked to realise how different the game feels compared to the two versions. after getting a proper feel of java deep down it still feels like the ultimate version. So if your a bedrock player and cant tell the difference give java a go you will not regret it.
