I’m excited to see your tutorial on Kirsten. I have my original white body Kirsten, from when I was a 10 year old girl and she needs color added to her lips and cheeks. I was surprised to see how faded she became over the years. She’s in wonderful condition and I took amazing care of her, but I played with her and I think I must have cleaned her coloring off. You did a beautiful job on your Felicity doll. I’m looking forward to seeing your technique. I just found through your Tiana collection and I collect the Disney LE dolls, but I’m wanting to move them over and bring out my AG dolls to enjoy again. @@rachelpackard2742 my technique is probably the easiest but I’ll talk about other methods in my video-even if I haven’t tried them myself. Felicity was an overhaul I didn’t expect I’d have to do lol! But she came together in the end.
My favorite thing is rhe satisfaction I get changing their clothes and fixing their hair. Generally, the only back story my doll have is the one they come with, but I'm turning KMF 51 (Maplelea) into Charlie from The Roadhouse movie, so I will have to see how her journal turns out.

I cannot wait to see another doll diorama tour. I forgot you had the AG kitchen. I built one for a friend's daughter out of foamboard years ago, and as soon as I finish repainting the coffee shop, I'm hoping to set up a scene with it. I am very very glad they do not have Joss or Claudie molds in the CYO line - or I would be in a lot of trouble. Joss is my favorite mold, followed (now thanks to Stardust and your gorgeous girls) by Claudie and the Jess mold. Interestingly enough, I think I have mostly Josefina mold dolls. Now maybe I need to do pics - once my dolls from storage come back this month - of each doll mold set to see my collection. I loved the Josie mold until you pointed out the eyes - now I can't unsee them, lol. I still love them though. I haven't had a catfish doll, and I love that we can all collect what makes our hearts happy. New Years started with besties visiting and getting the head cold that was going around. But since I got 40 minutes of doll time last night while puppy was occupied by my mate, I felt so spoiled. Hope you had a nice New Years as well.

Corinne was offered on sale during the recent Year End Sale for $65 but she's Sold Out. Occasionally at the end of this month they will find a few more of the early sold out items (no guarantees) and post those so if you missed out if you search every day you may be able to still get one. When she's gone, she's gone.

I love that there are so many different ways to collect these dolls. For me, I love buying their outfits and redressing them. I also love collecting and reading (or rereading) the books! I think my next step is getting into restoring older dolls, maybe making customs by rewigging or eye-swapping. But I have ADHD and that also may be a little ambitious for me. I’m not sure my focus could get me through a whole doll restoration.
@@settheworldonfire94 you’d probably have to restore a little bit at a time, or start with a doll that only needed a little bit of work. That way when you see the difference a little makes, you’ll be motivated to try a bit more. And then get addicted like me 🤪
So glad you mentioned the courage to customise a doll! I plucked up mine yesterday and painted Corinne's lips (she looked like a vampire without the top lip) and she, finally, is sort of liked, as awful as it sounds. Certain this will be my only touching the brush to the doll ever, but Corinne does not have to hide behind everyone else anymore :) You nailed all those great points about AG

I also thought Disblaine was a pun for “display”! LOL. I started collecting back in the Pleasant Co. days as a way to teach my three daughters about history. Like you, I was most interested in the furnishings and sets for displays. However, I have recently become interested in adding some dolls. I have a PC Samantha, Kirsten and Felicity from my daughters. I also have Tenney and her collection, Kit and all of her outfits and accessories, and a Truly Me #44 that I turned into Claire from the Outlander series. I am now waiting for a new Addy to be delivered. My wish list includes Molly and Nanea (all currently backordered on the website). Thanks for sharing another fun video!
@@kashlaw01 now that I have a few PC dolls, I understand why so many collectors resent the change with Mattel. Everything is still beautiful of course, but the difference is pretty stark. And it does seem like a fun and interactive way to learn about history. Did it work on your kids?
None of my daughters became huge history buffs like I am, but we had so much fun reading the books and planning historical scenes. We didn’t have money to collect all the accessories, so we pored over the catalogs and made whatever we could. Such great memories! Eventually they gave up dolls, but I never did!
Another fun entertaining video to start the year. I been eyeing the lavender kitchen set. Seeing it on your video I think confirms that I want to buy it.
My favourite thing is that the dolls almost all come with a backstory. Not the highest literature but it connects me to the dolls. For that reason i collect first and foremost historical dolls closely followed by GOTY dolls.

@@DisBlaine lol, Restringing was scary because I didn't know what I was doing. The reason I had to do it is because I purchased a doll, and I was dressing her and sat her down and her leg fell off. I was not going to send her to the doll hospital because of some mishaps I have had with them. So, after watching several videos on UA-cam. I got her re-stung and I am proud of myself. I know you can do it because you pop out eyes and re-wig dolls like pro.🙂
Mentioning that AG is almost 40 years old has me excited. Wondering what they will come up for the 40th Anniversary doll(s) ? They definitely will have to come out with some special dolls next year. Probably a more costly doll which will exclude me from purchasing one as I don't buy Collector dolls but I'll be excited to see what they do.
I have to agree I love all American Girl sets including Our Generation and My Life series . They all have great display and functionality. I appreciate when you explain the customs . In one of your recent videos you explained the name DisBlaine refers to Disney, and you stated some people thought it meant something else, well I thought it meant something totally different than all the above. I thought it meant Dis (This) Blaine. Like slang for this. 🤦🏽♀️🤣 When you said Disney…. I said OMG that makes sense!!! 😂 Too funny.

So I LOVE the accessories but they are thin on the ground here. Therefore I have to rely on OG but they are a great substitute. I love this video Blaine- thank you ❤

My “schedule” is prepared months in advance and then new reasons it make videos always arise. So the next hundred might happen soon after all 🤣
I just got my first AG doll in the post and I hate to say it, but I don't know if I'll be actively seeking many more of them. She's beautiful and very high quality but honestly...I just find it difficult to justify that amount of money for a bunch of cloth and plastic. And this isn't mean to decry anyone who can. A dolls worth is totally subjective. I think the main issue is that a lot of the things that makes these dolls so high quality, (the wigs, the human grade quality clothing ect) are things I don't really care too much about, so to me, it's not really worth much more than an our generation doll. Which is frustrating because the thing I love most about this brand is how character based it is. I love that every doll is a unique little character set in a different point in history. It's so neat and seeing all the historical outfits just tickles that part of my brain...but I can't justify the price. So I'm probably gonna be customing some characters from OG dolls. Scandalous.

I wanted to start the year with a super positive video to create content whiplash with my second one 🤣 I do feel bad you weren’t blown away by the quality enough to justify the price. BUT! In the end you’ll save money and at least you got to have the one. Though I must tell you it’s not nice of you to keep which doll you got a secret 🤪 Honestly, if you’re happy with OG and other more inexpensive dolls, consider yourself lucky. You can create your own character / story for whatever dolls you buy!

She's beautiful and very high quality but honestly...I just find it difficult to justify that amount of money for a bunch of cloth and plastic. And this isn't mean to decry anyone who can. A dolls worth is totally subjective. I think the main issue is that a lot of the things that makes these dolls so high quality, (the wigs, the human grade quality clothing ect) are things I don't really care too much about, so to me, it's not really worth much more than an our generation doll.
Which is frustrating because the thing I love most about this brand is how character based it is. I love that every doll is a unique little character set in a different point in history. It's so neat and seeing all the historical outfits just tickles that part of my brain...but I can't justify the price. So I'm probably gonna be customing some characters from OG dolls. Scandalous.

I do feel bad you weren’t blown away by the quality enough to justify the price. BUT! In the end you’ll save money and at least you got to have the one. Though I must tell you it’s not nice of you to keep which doll you got a secret 🤪
Honestly, if you’re happy with OG and other more inexpensive dolls, consider yourself lucky. You can create your own character / story for whatever dolls you buy!
@DisBlaine Lol. I got Nanea and honestly in the 15 hours since I wrote this she's really starting to grow on me. Maybe I just wasn't used to the stringed limbs or...idk. But I don't regret getting her
