It was my aunt who introduced me. When we went over to England we and our cousins would always put her record on and sing along with it. Even though none of us could sing at all. Great times.
I've admired Petula Clark for many years yet never knew she sang this song and never knew there was a performance of it...and in color. What a discovery!
Petula had grace poise and beauty- she managed to sing in her English accent and retain her precise diction- something no other UK singer managed to do successfully. She was also the most successful UK girl singer on the US charts during the 60s with 2 No1s on the Hot 100.
Mutton Noir: I agree totally,💯 per cent with absolutely every single word of your excellent comment. There is no one and I truly mean NOBODY who comes anywhere close to Petula Clark. Her vocals are crisp, precise and clear as crystal. As you state correctly Petula's diction is pinpoint accurate. Petula Clark is THE BEST of the best.
I was delighted back then when it was announced that one of my fave songs was to be on her new LP . Loved the song and Little Anthony's version . love this and then she recorded it in 1969 again even more spectacularly
She also covered the song in a 1972 episode of HERE'S LUCY, but that version was faster and peppier with a "Central National Bank jingle" arrangement (and also in a lower key than this version).
What a fantastic voice! She was always the best dresser on stage! A beautiful lady. Thanks!
What an EXQUISITELY SIMPLE AND BEAUTIFUL DRESS she's got on. Perfect! And Petula is a MUSICAL ICON AND GODDESS!!!!!
Best female version of this song ever,...Hats off to Petula Clark,.. THX for posting
Petula is the best version I’ve heard. Cilla Black sang this nicely too ~~
So glad my mom was a fan and introduced me to Petula when I was 6. I’ve had 5 decades to love this woman’s voice.
Same situation here. She is the best and i never tire of her beautiful voice.
Petula Clark is THE Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME.

This woman had one of the purest voices. Right up there with Karen Carpenter.
She does justice to one of my favorites from this era.
She had a successful career in musical theatre as well. Blood Brothers, to name one.

Very beautiful voice.thanks.

That is one thing that really sets her apart. Perfect diction. I think she has the best diction of any singer I have ever heard
She is incredible!
She had a perfect pop voice!

A lady with song to brighten every cloudy day.
JUST FANTASTIC AND THE BEEB NEVER REALLY PLAYED IT, SO SAD.
I love Cilla's version, but I hadn’t heard Petula sing it before - and this is fabulous.
Love this lady
I did not know of Pets version, it's the best one that I have heard ever.

Wonderful Voice !!!
Fantastic
Never heard this version of the song before.
what a dynamo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No. 1 vocalist of all times. England honor her with Damehood please.
"All time?"...that's a matter of opinion
Thank you Steve Stearns for agreeing with me in stating the 💯 per cent truth that Petula Clark is THE Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME.
If I remember right, Petula won a Grammy for this song.
Unfortunately, no. The Grammy website says she only won 2, both for "Downtown", and was nominated for some others, but not this one.
😘💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕Pétula

Amo essa música, maravilhosa, perfeita! Outro dia, assistindo um episodio do Havai 5.0 com Jack Lord é claro, no show cantaram essa música, eu adorei
❤️💔❤
The "B" side of "I Know a Place". I believe this is the Grammys.
B side of I Know a Place was "Jack and John"...at least in the States.
How is better Cilla Black or Petula Clark?
Beautiful version, really like Dionne Warwicks version also.
