My wife was happy to hear I was getting lick lessons. She'll be surprised to find out they are for guitar. You def turned my solid $.10 licks into at least a buck fitty. Thanks. I couldn't agree more about Troy... He did crack the code.
Binged on the Troy Grady stuff. it's beginning to gel a little more with this lick. If not mentally at least in my hands. you can just feel how little motion is wasted through the changes. Awesome! I already started apllying this thinking to a solo I'm learning, tinkering with it.
You're totally right about Troy, Ben. The downward and upward pick-slanting has helped me so much, especially for tackling the licks on the Yngwie REH tape. Of course your videos have been priceless as well! Especially the "Your Sweep Picking Sucks" lessons. So many resources out there nowadays, there's NO excuse to be a shitty player! :-)
Man, it's great for me when you talk Troy Grady, between him and yourself my playing has improved so much and it's awesome to have that continuity between video lessons. You rule, Uncle Ben.
Also I'm slightly freaked out by the coincidence that I have been revisting my pentatonic licks all this week in my praticing and then BOOM, Uncle Ben with the pentatonic lesson.
Hey Ben? with all the instructional videos and UA-cam videos sometimes I feel like there is a massive overload of information and exercises etc. I barely start practicing something for a few days then I start practicing something else. I sometimes feel like there is too much information. Any advice?
These kind of licks are nice to pull out every once and a while. But am I wrong for liking the simpler licks played well and fast? I mean if you look at guys like Hendrix and SRV, those licks are fairly simple but just played balls to the wall.
It’s crazy how a little economy picking can lead to such an expensive lick... Thanks, Uncle Ben!! As always, informative and easy to follow. Even in the rare instance I’m not holding my guitar at that moment, you teach in such a way that’s both entertaining and easy to remember. I’ve been playing guitar since the last great extinction event, and you’re always showing me new ways to improve my technique. 🤘🏻 🤘🏻 >M
BEN FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHAT IS THAT ANIME SONG, I'VE HEARD THAT CATCHY TUNE 5 TIMES NOW AND I NEED TO KNOW WHAT IT IS. I NEED IT TO COMPLETE ME. GIVE ME THE WEEB SHIT. I DEMAND IT
