Danny Cynic True story, when Sodom tried to recruit Frank Blackfire to replace Destructor on guitar, he was skeptical after hearing Obsessed By Cruelty, but.... they played him Hell Awaits and told them THAT was the sound they wanted, and afterwards he joined.
Agreed at the time hell awaits and seven churches were set apart as a darker form and death metal applies. Listen how angel corpse used riffs from the hell awaits Album endlessly back then.
God damn a cover of this song that is in good quality with perfect solos.. God DAMN bro! Amazing fucking job!! Pretty fun song to play isn't it? :D SSLLAAYYEERR!!
"I think that "Hell Awaits" together with "Seven Churches" by Possessed were the beginning of the primitive "Death Metal" era" Well... this was not primitive era. I think this is very good era in extreme music genre. Hell Awaits by Slayer, Leprosy by Death, Altars of Madness by Morbid Angel... very harsh music without compromise. ps. maybe a little "primitive" was Scream bloody gore which was a post-thrash album with pre-death metal elements . But not Hell Awaits !
So you were 17 years old in '85, so that means you are 47 now, judging by your hands, you don't look that old. Oh, great job by the way, fucking love this song and the whole album. So fucking EVIL, love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is the main riff 222222 4 222222 4 222222 5 222222 5 222222 2 222222 2 222222 4 222222 4 4 4 5 5 2 2 4 4 Or 222222 4 222222 4 222222 5 222222 5 222222 2 222222 2 222222 4 222222 4 Just with the single notes? I have been listening to the track and can't really hear it well.
Nope cannible corpse is also heavy as hell just that They use lower tunings ,listened to their Metallica cover No Remorse sounds damn good Unless this is a joke bro ,this guy's all got skills , Peace \m/ n rock on Rock never dies
For some reason to me, hell awaits the lp has no songs that really stand out to me. I don't why. It's overall a good record(a little quiet on the production imo), but none of the songs really stand out compared to show no mercy, haunting the chapel, and reign in blood. I can't explain it but i've always felt that way. I heard show no mercy first, then live undead, then haunting(1st lp i bought with my own money), then hell awaits, then reign(remember when it came out), then south of heaven.
Not a fan of fancy death metal. Possessed and Slayer from that time were tops for me. I like it thrashy, satanic , and the vocals mean. I couldn't ever get into Exodus or Anthrax or Overkill, for example. I've never burned out on Slayer.
ı RESPECT YOU VERY MUCH...THANKS...I CAN NOT BELIEVE YOU WERE A FOLLOWER WHEN THIS WAS RELEASED;I MEAN IT MUST BE HAIR RISING AS A FEELİING...I ALSO PLAY BUT I WAS 3 THREE YEARS OLD WHEN HELL AWAITS WAS RELEASED...I AM IN LOVE EITH THE ATMOSPHERE OF THIS ALBUM...THERE IS MAGIC THERE;AND SO MUCH OF A SOUL...I PLAY REIGN IN BLOOD;SOUTH OF HEAVEN AND SEASONS THROUGH OUT BUT THIS ALBUM IS UNIQUE;SO MUCH DIFFERENT;MAYBE THE MAGIC WAS BRIAN SLAGEL?WHAT DO YOU THINK?DO YOU LIKE THE CHORUS EFFECT OF REIGN IN BLOOD FOR EXAMPLE WHICH RICK RUBIN HAD DONE?HELL AWAITS IS MUCH BETTER ABOUT THE TASTE OF DISTORSION FOR ME;HOW DO YOU THINK?AND SINCERE CONGRATULATIONS ABOUT YOUR PERFORMANCE;I LOVED IT...KEEP ON ROCKING;BROTHER...
+fuat ozsezer Thanx dude, well I still remember when Hell Awaits was released and how different it was from the Show No Mercy album, and Reign in Blood too, but I don't know if the producers made the difference, cheers!
Hell Awaits to me is the game changer for Slayer not Reign in Blood. I remember listening to this in high school when it came out and people looked at me like I was insane. Haha it was awesome!!!!!
Killer soloing bro, tight asf picking. On point slayer cover, would just say you should have a little fun with it, add in a gallop here or there, play an extra e chord you know, do a cover respectfully, but add your own touch!
awesome cover, this has to be the most evil, demonic sounding slayer song, which is why it's my favorite
I think that goes for the entire Hell Awaits album. And that's exactly why it's my favorite Slayer album.
+john behun DOWN, TO THE FIERY PITS OF HELL!!!
It doesn't seem as fast as I thought. What *IS* the fastest Slayer song out there?
The Hell Awaits sound always interested me.... It's unique, don't know how to describe it
@@derekobs Really? I thought Hardening Of The Arteries was the fastest for a while
2:31 sick riff. Impossible not to headbang
Is no one going to talk about how sick that riff is @2:11 ?
RIP Jeff Hanneman, the ultimate riff master
Yeah!!
@Death Metal You are AN idiot. Before you go around calling people idiots, use correct grammar.
At least we still have Kerry King, he is my favorite member.
The earliest thrash/death metal is usually the best! Brutality!
That's black metal, not death metal.
The gallops at 2:58 pump my blood every time i here it. One of slayers sickest tunes.
Most underrated Slayer release...if there is such a thing! Perfect...
Hell Awaits, was a fucking bomb when it came out, no band was so heavy and brutal in those days....
Best youtube channel for guitar covers honestly
@@andtuningforall4957 thank you very much, my friend
Great cover dude! I agree with you that along with Seven Churches, Hell Awaits was the beginning of Death Metal
Of course. There is no growling or blast beats but guitar work in many moments is quite death metal
@bruce cockinson The guitar work in Hell Awaits is very reminiscent of death metal, especially this song, kill again and at dawn they sleep
@bruce cockinson learn your history. We called show no mercy death/ thrash/ speed metal back in late 83 . Way before the revisionist bullshit.
Agreed at the time hell awaits and seven churches were set apart as a darker form and death metal applies. Listen how angel corpse used riffs from the hell awaits Album endlessly back then.
Hell Awaits is black metal, not death metal.
1:15 the most evil riff ever
Continued on Raining blood
Just realised that the main riff is so similar to war ensemble. Cool.
2:55 the gallop 🤘
Pure killer one of slayers more technical songs , awesome to hear classics from back in the day man!!!
hey man can you play hardening of the arteries?
God damn a cover of this song that is in good quality with perfect solos.. God DAMN bro! Amazing fucking job!! Pretty fun song to play isn't it? :D SSLLAAYYEERR!!
Thank you very much, yes I love to play Slayer!!!

Alex Majors aaahah thanx dude, well it's 30 years that I play Slayer with my guitar....so it's quite easy for me, cheers!

Great job, did you even miss a note? Damn Slayer played fast back in the day

Superb Danny! Slayer! Tip for the next one: Kafir, by Nile. Your last Nile cover was epic.
Nile would surely be awesome!!! Essential Salts s a good one too... Chapter for Transforming into a Sanke too... Damn! So many good songs...
Thanx, Nile is actually one of my favorite band, so I'll make more covers of them for sure....cheers!
Cuál es la afinación de la guitarra para este cover?
Sick cover

That is awesome

Nice, even nailed the solos!
Great cover man, you totally nailed the solo :D
Would you do some Overkill stuff such as "Electro Violence" or "In Union We Stand" :) ?
Thanx for watching, ok I'll check it out....
Overkill are shitty watered down Maiden\Tallica wannabes. Disgrace to the entirety of metal
Just excellent man. This guitar sounds Fn beautiful. American made or NJ series or what?
Damn, too good
It's a NJ series but I put Emg 81-85 pick-ups
Great cover bro ...... one of the most killer metal songs ever and ever !
thanx

Crazy to think how lackluster they turned into after this album
the 3 after this are weaker than the first 2 but still solid
Just curious, what do you mean by lackluster? Pretty much all their albums sounds like this
Divine intervention was their last good album. Too much reverb on that one tho.
Sick as fuck dude.
Thanx
this is an affront to Heaven!!!
Fucking awesome bro!!
thanx dude
What happened to your Reign in blood full album cover I clicked and it says unavailable???

But Possessed is Death Metal.
Slayer is Metal. 🤘🏻🔥👹
Overkill is a disgrace to thrash, but bonded by blood is a phenomenal album
ANARX BROS. None of Exodus, Anthrax, or Overkill are death metal.

great cover!! \m/ but I have a question, what tuning is the guitar in?
+Ramon Rodriguez As most of the Slayer stuff, this one is in Eb standrd
