I have to disagree with them. Her runs were on point. She had me at hello and keep me engaged the whole song. I think Katie was a little butt hurt that a young women came in and out sang her on her own song. I hope she keeps up her style and grace and stays who she is not what the Hollywood industry wants. Music producers need to let musicians do what they want musically and if people like them they will buy their music.
THIS GIRL HAD THE FROSTING AND THE CAKE. Yes it had a lot of runs, bordering on too much, but her beautiful chest voice was there, her tone was crystal clear, and her belt was phenomenal. The cake was there.

She went on the show for more opportunity and exposure. The judges were definitely hating. That was not constructive criticism. That was just criticism and jealousy on Katie's part and Luke made a couple of jabs for solidarity purposes. But if they were actually being fair judges, they should have been able to tell that she was a phenomenal singer just like Simon Cowell was able to tell when he signed a contract with her.

When Beyoncé started it was all frosting is my point, she had a chance to grow and we see how amazing she is, this girl now has that chance but it could’ve been said one time instead of drilling into her like that. She just reminded me of Beyoncé with her runs and they both have amazing abilities. I’m excited for this girl to learn and grow!
That was one of the better auditions this season. And Katie was unfairly harsh on her. I felt that her assessment was all wrong. That was rich and soulful, the opposite of "frosting" and "dead." Might Katie have been jealous that she never sounded like that at this girls' age? Maybe. I also felt that the girl was playing coy. I think she knows how truly good she is. I hope she doesn't allow Katie putting the brakes on her to dim her light and confidence. She needs to keep doing what she's doing, because it's MARVELLOUS! I look forward to seeing her in Hollywood and hope she goes far in the competition!!
When a contestant sings a judges song, they normally more harsh on them. Maybe they expect respect for their song. Idk but it’s something I’ve seen a lot in these shows.

Unfortunately, Heather is stuck. She crushed it. But the dilemma is this: (Don’t look down on me for saying this) - it’s just an observation... Heather has a ‘sista’s’voice which will make the ‘sistas’ mad because they will think she is trying to be black and on the same token she won’t fit in and relate to her ‘sisters’ because her style doesn’t fit with them. So basically, she may fall victim to votes. Heather is a modern day Teena Marie. Jealousy will be the downfall. But make NO mistake, Heather’s audition was the most powerful that I’ve seen on AI. She has been bussin tails since she was 9. Look her up on UA-cam. She will be a star regardless and that may prevent her from winning this competition. It won’t be her skill that’s for sure. She will have to pick the wrong song or deal with hate to really lose. Her skill extraordinary. I’ve produced a ton of songs, for artists, and she has it.

Acknowledge that, and maybe you could play a part in nourishing her gift. Dismissing her might close her off and make her self- conscious. Maybe not. She seemed to take that remark and criticism graciously. Still, though, I think there's a better way to acknowledge the gift while letting her know that less is more. The young lady sings with fantastic control. Finding a way to let the words and melody sing and breathe without so much embellishment might actually allow for the natural and raw beauty of her voice to come out and convey the emotion of the song and lyrics.
She's amazing. I loved the runs. I think they were great, and she's got like 2 minutes to showcase her vocal abilities, so I don't blame her for flexing a little bit. Amazed that I could not find this audition on the American Idol youtube, but glad it's here!

Best singer this season so far and that’s saying something. Judges have let so many people that clearly can’t sing get through just because they like them or their emotional story connected to them but they lacked the ability and talents. This girl has the vocal ability, the swag, the finesse, the talent. The total package and gave way too much unnecessary criticism which is turning me off so much not only on this Heather performance but on quite a few. I love the judges but their choices are way too inconsistent for me to be invested in this show going forward
I honestly felt like Katie was a bit jealous. Maybe more than just a bit.... She even told her not to sing the song better than her and that there's such a thing as "seniority." Of course she was only "joking" but there was a tone of seriousness and transparency in her voice that she probably didn't realize was coming out. Not only was the frosting comment rude and untrue, the tone in which she said it was condescending and belittling. Katie did not like some little girl showing her up. She obviously felt threatened and it showed.

I actually thought this was going to be a smart well thought out comment. Just another brains dead person though. You notice a trend that the judges are always far harsher on the best singers. The best singers especially heather knows she’s good, so if she was just endlessly praised she’d be cocky as hell and would fuck up going into Hollywood week. Instead she will be trying and going as hard as possible just to keep making it to the next round. It’s a very common trend with these judges the best singers, the ones who know their amazing especially, are flat out harsher and a lot critical of, just to make sure they don’t slack off and get eliminated out of sheer cockiness.
That's the catch 22 of it. Most people don't have the range or ability to show off what she did. Showing all of this, was a good display of talent but its also tricky because with the song she used, the timing, style and everything allowed her to include all of these vocalizations without it sounding too off. That isn't going to be the case for many songs, and for her, a singer that isn't locked into a specific range or style, its important to get through to her on how to use her voice properly, before she develops habits that could be hard to break later on. Honestly excited to see where she goes from here.

I do not think Katy had trouble recognizing she sang it better than her or anything, she recognized that she did a masterpiece. The reality is that, Katy looks at more than just singing, an artist is not made by his/her voice, but by all the qualities that come within. The contestant has a machine, powerful beautiful voice, Katy wants to ensure she remains grounded and she evolves into a potential record selling artist. I’m excited for the contestant.

She went on the show for more opportunity and exposure. The judges were definitely hating. That was not constructive criticism. That was just criticism and jealousy on Katie's part and Luke made a couple of jabs for solidarity purposes. But if they were actually being fair judges, they should have been able to tell that she was a phenomenal singer just like Simon Cowell was able to tell when he signed a contract with her.

That was one of the better auditions this season. And Katie was unfairly harsh on her. I felt that her assessment was all wrong. That was rich and soulful, the opposite of "frosting" and "dead." Might Katie have been jealous that she never sounded like that at this girls' age? Maybe. I also felt that the girl was playing coy. I think she knows how truly good she is. I hope she doesn't allow Katie putting the brakes on her to dim her light and confidence. She needs to keep doing what she's doing, because it's MARVELLOUS! I look forward to seeing her in Hollywood and hope she goes far in the competition!!
When a contestant sings a judges song, they normally more harsh on them. Maybe they expect respect for their song. Idk but it’s something I’ve seen a lot in these shows.

@@justleahdegraw IMHO - They aren’t consistent though. Especially, Katy. They crush the ones with talent and self confidence and they buildup the ones that lack the talent and confidence. Unfortunately, Heather is stuck. She crushed it. But the dilemma is this: (Don’t look down on me for saying this) - it’s just an observation... Heather has a ‘sista’s’voice which will make the ‘sistas’ mad because they will think she is trying to be black and on the same token she won’t fit in and relate to her ‘sisters’ because her style doesn’t fit with them. So basically, she may fall victim to votes. Heather is a modern day Teena Marie. Jealousy will be the downfall. But make NO mistake, Heather’s audition was the most powerful that I’ve seen on AI. She has been bussin tails since she was 9. Look her up on UA-cam. She will be a star regardless and that may prevent her from winning this competition. It won’t be her skill that’s for sure. She will have to pick the wrong song or deal with hate to really lose. Her skill extraordinary. I’ve produced a ton of songs, for artists, and she has it.

She seemed to take that remark and criticism graciously. Still, though, I think there's a better way to acknowledge the gift while letting her know that less is more. The young lady sings with fantastic control. Finding a way to let the words and melody sing and breathe without so much embellishment might actually allow for the natural and raw beauty of her voice to come out and convey the emotion of the song and lyrics.

Best singer this season so far and that’s saying something. Judges have let so many people that clearly can’t sing get through just because they like them or their emotional story connected to them but they lacked the ability and talents. This girl has the vocal ability, the swag, the finesse, the talent. The total package and gave way too much unnecessary criticism which is turning me off so much not only on this Heather performance but on quite a few. I love the judges but their choices are way too inconsistent for me to be invested in this show going forward

I honestly felt like Katie was a bit jealous. Maybe more than just a bit.... She even told her not to sing the song better than her and that there's such a thing as "seniority." Of course she was only "joking" but there was a tone of seriousness and transparency in her voice that she probably didn't realize was coming out. Not only was the frosting comment rude and untrue, the tone in which she said it was condescending and belittling. Katie did not like some little girl showing her up. She obviously felt threatened and it showed.

I actually thought this was going to be a smart well thought out comment. Just another brains dead person though. You notice a trend that the judges are always far harsher on the best singers. The best singers especially heather knows she’s good, so if she was just endlessly praised she’d be cocky as hell and would fuck up going into Hollywood week. Instead she will be trying and going as hard as possible just to keep making it to the next round. It’s a very common trend with these judges the best singers, the ones who know their amazing especially, are flat out harsher and a lot critical of, just to make sure they don’t slack off and get eliminated out of sheer cockiness.

That's the catch 22 of it. Most people don't have the range or ability to show off what she did. Showing all of this, was a good display of talent but its also tricky because with the song she used, the timing, style and everything allowed her to include all of these vocalizations without it sounding too off. That isn't going to be the case for many songs, and for her, a singer that isn't locked into a specific range or style, its important to get through to her on how to use her voice properly, before she develops habits that could be hard to break later on. Honestly excited to see where she goes from here.

I do not think Katy had trouble recognizing she sang it better than her or anything, she recognized that she did a masterpiece. The reality is that, Katy looks at more than just singing, an artist is not made by his/her voice, but by all the qualities that come within. The contestant has a machine, powerful beautiful voice, Katy wants to ensure she remains grounded and she evolves into a potential record selling artist. I’m excited for the contestant.
