Hi thanks for your message, I used a 3 part sand and 1 cement mix when I made this video. I will make a follow up to show how it has lasted too. It has not fallen off or deteriorated in any way thankfully 😅

Thanks for the video, I have a small patch of flat render that I need to cover with a Tyrolean finish to match the rest of the wall. I'll try and copy your method 🤞

Hi Thanks for post this. Got me thinking Coukd this be used for applying scud costing to walls before rendering. Might be les messy than using a harling trowel especially indoors. Thanks 😊

Hey what kind of paint do you use on this and is it normal to see the render underneath the Tyrolean until you’ve painted it? (Not sure if I’ve put on too thin…)

Hello, thanks for the question, ideally the covering should be an even coat. If you can still see render score marks etc then may be just a case of going over that area again. The beauty of the tyrolean finish is that you can blend and add more as required. In terms of paint I am using a sandtex ultra smooth masony paint ( Plymouth Grey). I tend to paint with a slightly watered down mix then add another coat with the original paint as it is direct from the tub.
      Hope that helps?

so this is just sand cement mix? i thought tyrolean was a render you buy in small bags? i have a small garden wall i tried to render smooth but when painted white with sandtex microseal all the imperfections show, so want to tyrolean it. Do you think this will be ok tp apply over sandtex

Hello, you are correct you can buy tyrolean pre mixed already. Likely to be more expensive than the mix in my video. Sandtex is designed to withstand the weather, so there is a possibility it may not adhere as well. You could try and make a key first then give it a go or give it a key and then apply some adhesive as well. I hope this helps?

What is the benefit of tyrolene?

Hi, it’s an alternative render coating with a texture, if the original surface is not quite good then it will cover and hide any imperfections. Thanks for watching my UA-cam 👍

Hello, if you have similar products and mix, it should stick to a standard brick wall.😊
