“The zombies setup rounds are integral to the gameplay loop” This is so incredibly true. the older I get, the more I find myself really only enjoying the first 18-20 rounds. I love doing steps for Easter eggs and I love setting up, but as soon as it gets to the point where I’m just surviving, I instantly lose all fun. It’s like there’s nothing else to work towards besides training and watching your round go up I love when completing an Easter egg ends the map as well. It’s an amazing closure. The map is so sweet For me, Paralyzer is what Jet Gun was supposed to be, but following the playerbase feedback But never have thought of the setting as goofy, well, I took many things at face value so no surprise.
Also a mention about how the ghost works, when she steals all your points and when you have 0 points the ghost begin to do damage to you which since they are in groups, they can overwhelm you.
@@irshman1845 there's like 4 training spots i can think of. People gotta stop overhating Die Rise. 1:40 it’s because it’s the original town that had found element 115 in a mine they were digging, one guy who was exposed to it was connected to the ether and the keepers told him how to build a pack a punch machine, and a powerful ether object, he put the powerful object into the pack a punch and so much energy was released when he did that it teleported the whole town into an underground cavern under Africa and the whole town was over run by zombies.
I don’t know if you create these videos entirely yourself meaning what you have to say is original or whether you read off some summary of the map, but what you have to say is always so carefully crafted and well spoken. This channel best highlights the key pros & cons of a map and how it relates to Treyarch’s overall development. Each video is well thought out and I have to say, I’m impressed with the successful chronological development made in each video with respect to the maps features.
Not to mention it had Jug, upstairs in the saloon, the front ledge of the bank, and pack a punch which would have all been the best camping spots on most maps, especially in contrast to the map that came out after it which had nowhere to hide
One of my best friends and I met from playing Buried. Many many 18hr nights just fucking wrecking shit until the game crashed or we got so tired no one could stay awake.

Arthur never had a name, but an achievement tied to him said "I'm your Huckleberry" so me and my friends always just called him Huckleberry. In my heart, that's still his name.
The only thing I've found close to Arthur picking up a zombie to make doing Easter eggs easier is in Cold War Firebase Z. You could use the soul trap device thing that's part of the Easter egg to trap the last zombie without ending the round, thus giving you complete safety to smash through the Easter egg solo
@regilad_904 Was gonna say, the crawler plants were very very useful not only in Easter egg solo runs but just for getting pack a punch going, building a shield or even just opening up the map further.
YES! A little late to the party but its finally here. You totally hit it on the head with this video, Buried being such a versatile map is what truly makes it my favorite. Another great video, can't wait to see what's next
Me and my cousin played this on release day and figured out all but the last couple steps of the Richtofen EE on our own without any guide videos... Good times.
I remember burried being one of my favorites because of how fun it is. I remember being a kid and whipping out a whole calculator so i could open the entire map and have a gun by round 1
Real intriguing analysis! you’d never think to see analysis vids as everyone’s doing too 10 maps and speed run videos so it’s so refreshing and fun to come across a genuine analysis video on cod zombies
this video is wonderful but i just wanted to say that buried wasn't the first instance of phd being back, it was back in motd with the grief mode where it had its perk machine
I think a true amazing challenge that didn’t get mentioned in the video was an achievement for pack a punching on round 1 without using the bank. Utilizing your map knowledge on all the best angles to send Arthur to get the most distance ran for the barrier points, because if you screwed up you have to buy more alcohol which could jeopardize your chances of completing it, also to know where all the chalk drawings are to claim all the bonus points given from those. And finally to test your reflexes in the witch mansion. Do you go with a cheap weak weapon to save on points if you get hit a few to many times to get the pap or buy a powerful weapon which can kill the witches much easier but you leave yourself with almost no opportunity to get hit and then have not enough points to pap. Such an amazing concept that feels fun and satisfying
the point about specific mechanics taking an innovative way to solve a previous problem was mind blowing. I was young at the time that b02 came out, so i never recognized that the paralyzer was a buffed jet gun with a new name and model. I also never knew about leroy getting you a turbine to solve the issue of carrying multiple things problem. modern game devs, take some notes. this is how you solve problems in a way that adds immense amount of joy to players, as I still love buried as my favorite bo2 map.
your vids have been my inner 13yr old's bedtime stories lately lmao thanks for the nostalgia trips, you always hit the nail on the head. keep up the content WCG
One thing I really look forward to in your vids is which part you'll choose to play from the EE song, and to see how early I can hear it. Great content.
Buried was so much fun for 13-14 year old me… this made me really remember how much fun I had on this game, I used to love to spawn trap on bike town in 1v1, and then there was the worm era (which I friggin LOVED).. I was going thru a very tough time in my life so I spent a lot of time on this game where I had friends, helped me remember why I have a bo2 poster in my room…
My friends and I would've loved this map if it had a way to get multiple Paralyzers, the fact that it was findable round one didn't help. Basically we raced to the box and as soon as anyone found it someone else would start to throw or try to get the guy who had found it to die, it was even more of an issue with randoms online. I wish we had stuck to it now that I see all this map had to offer.
Dude you explain everything so perfectly I’d love to see a fully storyline breakdown from you cuz it would be a lot better than these other ones just going thru the motions
I dont know if it's the meth im on or what, but I have to say, these videos you're putting out are top quality. your flow is incredible, the way you talk about these maps makes me think you were a developer, i mean I feel like I'm listening to an 'A+ Olympus level' video essay. IDK what your life is like but I'll tell you this, you've got some serious fucking ability.
This was such a great analysis on the design of buried!! So many zombies commentaries just sound like dudebro-y regurgitations of info but you were very concise and made a clear point and I appreciate buried much more now :D
It amazes me that these memories were formed over a decade ago, I remember the day that I came home and bought the dlc for buried, me and my buddy Steven always played that map together, those memories I will cherish for a lifetime, it was an amazing experience back then to get a new zombies map, I was so deeply entranced with the story and lore at the time, I remember watching ngtzombies, rofflewaffles, and therelaxingend always staying up to date on new map finds
I did not know about Arthur being able to write the unused chalk on any wall! And I've had this dlc for about a year. So cool learning new things about a map
I have done just about every type of gameplay on Buried as possible, I did the two easter eggs, I remember every glitch spot from the wall in the cave to using the purifier to left up the candy store ledge across from the mystery box spawn and the zombies could only come from one spot and having all perks with the witch house glitches and 3 PAP guns, mine were the Purifier, the Ray Gun MKII, and the AN-94 and then camping in the Jug hallway having traps setup, one of the hardest first room challenges. I spent more time on this map than any other zombies map and I haven’t played zombies since like Infinite Warfare and I didn’t even enjoy it that much, too convoluted. Same with BO4, it looked cool, but was just too non-casual friendly. This map is my all time though, that’s for sure and I think too many people hate on it for no reason.
Buried had a challenge to it. Mostly in the maze section. I loved getting the achievement "Awaken the Gazebo". Because it took me a while to learn the mechanics of Leroy and his charge. 😂
buried was one of my favorite maps. i was in like 7th grade at the time and my friend would come over and we would drink tons of mountain dew and eat brownies and stay up till like 4 on this map. we'd go to bed with the xbox on and wake up and continue it
B02 was my first cod. I couldn’t stand all the complicated maps not knowing what i was doing. Buried was the only dlc zombies a newbie like me could hangout at
Bro really said "you may not like it but this is peak zombies" and I couldn't agree more (outside of Origins and Mob ofc bc imo those are like.. a holy trinity of "these are absolutely perfect")
you either didnt know or completely forgot the BIGGEST reason you want the Time Bomb. you can go through the Mansion (while the lights are on) get to the Maze turn around and let the Witches come to you, Kill all but 1 of them, Throw the time bomb down, kill the Witch and pick up the Perk bottle, hit the time bomb to rewind to just before the final witch is killed, kill her again and youd actually get a second free Perk. and you could do this every 5 rounds so long as you got a Max Ammo in between mansion runs. so you could double up on the Perk gaining from that alone. me and my friends did it all the time, getting the time bomb was one of our biggest priority's early game.
Buried was my most replayed map in the time between BO2 and BO3, I loved camping in the courthouse upper floor by jumping in with the Trample Steam, good shit
I didn't play zombies or CoD much when I was younger, but my brother did. I would occasionally play with him and his friends and this map is the only one that really stands out in my mind. You nailed it by pointing out how great the design of Buried is for the non-initiated.
I played this map until it was dust and I never knew Leroy could do SOOO many things with the candy. All I knew is he could lock and move the box and hold a zombie.
Honestly in retrospect, I think it was my favorite BO2 map. I just remember playing with my friends in 2013 and 14 and loving it! I pretty much played it up until the release of black ops three and when I didn’t love shadows of evil, I went back to it. Then in 2017 I moved on, but I still have extremely fond memories of coming home and playing it with people I knew.
I can't tell if you're an inexperienced player or an extremely experienced player because that gameplay was making me so anxious 😂 constantly trapped in a corner relying on self-damaging weapons to escape hahaha Great video btw!
The way how he perfectly summarizes the life of deception of a zombies player by mentining the possibility of getting a wonder weapon, just to soon see the war machine in the box...This guy is an artist, absolute genious
I bought buried like 6 months ago. Never played any bo2 DLC, I know the reputation but I bought buried first anyway. I don’t regret it in the slightest, the map is awesome. The map was very confusing and a lot more expansive then I’d ever imagine. Took a long time to figure out where everything is but I like the design despite at the time not understanding most of it. One thing of note is that didn’t know about what happens when you enter the witches house and it was pretty spooky the first few times through. The whole map’s aesthetic is great and eery and made me feel uncomfortable for a while. Especially the maze. I got so lost in the maze. I couldn’t figure out where pack was (or that I was even heading towards it). And I also didn’t know you had to go back in the house to get back to the main area. The whole maps vibe Was such a feeling of helplessness… that was until I started figuring out the map.. but it’s still great. But it’ll just never be as good as it was when I didn’t get the layout. But it’s still a lot of fun. It just feels like it got too easy after I started understanding everything
Your content is so good. I was never very into the "zombies" community very much. I played 5his mapbwhen i was mucb younger and thought it was bad and too hard. Its very funny to see this now and go "yeah i was just bad" keep up the good work!

Listen guys, the War Machine can be a Wonder Weapon if you think about it. For example, I WONDER how I got the absolute worst box luck and pulled the worst gun in the game when I was getting that footage!
Not every map can have this level of investment or players will get tired
*Black ops 3 and black ops 4 are laughing in the corner*
I was quite upset every map for those games was a blundell style map. No I don't really count zombie Chronicles and revelations. It's rehashed stuff.
Understandable, but the war machine wasn't the worst gun. The SMR is and always will be the worst.
@@theoneaboveall9930 the Springfield is the worst in the entire series lol.
@@theoneaboveall9930 Yo deadass who tf NERFED the balls off the SMR going from multi-player to Zombies mode? He needs a swift kick in the balls. The SMR was viable on Multi-player due to the lack of recoil and attachments leveling the playing field. Zombies the thing takes 4 hits to kill 1 zombie on round 2.
@@VioletDownpour777 i mean the smr was a literal troll. It got worse when double packed. One of the best weapons in multiplayer and yet one of the worst in zombies. They knew what they were doing.
“The zombies setup rounds are integral to the gameplay loop”
This is so incredibly true. the older I get, the more I find myself really only enjoying the first 18-20 rounds. I love doing steps for Easter eggs and I love setting up, but as soon as it gets to the point where I’m just surviving, I instantly lose all fun. It’s like there’s nothing else to work towards besides training and watching your round go up
I love when completing an Easter egg ends the map as well. It’s an amazing closure. You don’t feel like you “finally lost” or “quit” no, you beat the map.
It’s like you were playing a custom zombies map in bo2 honestly ahead of its time
It was horrifying enough as A kid. I was scared shitless thanks to the witches.
Never played COD when I was younger but I vividly remember being obsessed with the zombies youtube scene. Everytime I saw gameplay of the witch house in buried it would scare the shit out of me and I would wonder if I would ever have the courage to play the map for myself.
Went through the same thing with my friend at launch, we saw the witches in the windows and avoided it on the first couple of runs
So amazing to see a guy going from just a few subs to way over 10k and still being himself. I’m glad I stuck by.
Your comments have always been genuinely so encouraging, thanks for sticking around I really appreciate it!
The map is so sweet
For me, Paralyzer is what Jet Gun was supposed to be, but following the playerbase feedback
But never have thought of the setting as goofy, well, I took many things at face value so no surprise.
Also a mention about how the ghost works, when she steals all your points and when you have 0 points the ghost begin to do damage to you which since they are in groups, they can overwhelm you.
Those things always scared the bajeezus outta me. They still do actually. To this day I still hesitate to venture into the mansion. lol
Buried and Die Rise slap like none other. Genuinely make being OP feel fun as hell
I love Die Rise. I feel like people just don't like it because you can't train every where on the map lol.
@@irshman1845 there's like 4 training spots i can think of. People gotta stop overhating Die Rise. They complain about the verticality and slipping off the map, but if you play enough, that becomes a lot less of an issue. Some people don't use the Sliquifier just cause their gonna fall off the map. That's really just using it at the wrong place, at the wrong time.
I think it was patched but i remember when everyone could get a Sliquifier; it only cost a few downs.
Finally someone else who likes Die Rise!
YESSS SHOUTOUT TO DIE RISE
Insanely boring far too easy
I remember my friends always wondered how I'd never get lost in the maze. Now that I'm older, it may have been because of my asbergers
buried was my favorite map. played it so much. there was also a spot you could fly up onto with the paralyzer and not buy the door behind you. all the zombies would come from one direction infront of you. then just tapping the paralyzer it wouldn't over heat. I made it to round 68 before I got too bored and quit lol
Inside the courthouse?
@@chinchin3274 no infront of the bank, kiddy corner from the sheriff's office
1:40 it’s because it’s the original town that had found element 115 in a mine they were digging, one guy who was exposed to it was connected to the ether and the keepers told him how to build a pack a punch machine, and a powerful ether object, he put the powerful object into the pack a punch and so much energy was released when he did that it teleported the whole town into an underground cavern under Africa and the whole town was over run by zombies.
Dude thank you. For 11 years i have wondered why the intro scene shows them walking through the sahara, only to somehow be in an american town.
BO2 zombies in general was just a time to be alive, once in a lifetime gaming for sure.
I just wanted to say I binged your whole channel the other day and I've been waiting for this one. Super excited to see more of these from you!
i second that. we're catching up to you like a herd 🧟♂️ vids are 🎉👏🏾
This is such an amazing video! Thank you for taking the time to make this for all of us. I appreciate you.
Fans: The witches horrified me as a kid! I had nightmares.
Me, a 25 year old man: Ye- yeah... only when I was a kid...
One of my best friends and I met from playing Buried. Many many 18hr nights just fucking wrecking shit until the game crashed or we got so tired no one could stay awake.
Wow, this video was a real revelation. I felt an ascension happen when I clicked play, like I was in transit to another world. It’s amazing how your content can light up my day like a full moon. Keep up the great work, it’s always an origin of inspiration for me!
I hope this comment doesnt get buried
Arthur never had a name, but an achievement tied to him said "I'm your Huckleberry" so me and my friends always just called him Huckleberry.
In my heart, that's still his name.
I always called him Leroy but I used Huckleberry as a nickname for him just like that! Good times, thank you for the nostalgia!!
That is a quote from the movie tombstone. It basically means "I'm the man for the job."
4:50 that’s wrong actually, PHD returned as a full fledged perk in mob grief!
buried was always my favourite zombies map. I spent a ton of time playing it splitscreen with my brothers. good times
just binge watched all the ones you've released, some damn good content, can’t wait for my favorite map’s video in origins
“You can spin the box and get something even better like a wonder weapon on round 1!”
2 seconds later - ahhh yes, the warmachine
Good times.
thank you so much for this series. opened my eyes to so much even after playing zombies since i was a kid. seriously such great content
This dude is the Summoning Salt of COD Zombies
This is my favorite map of all time, I'm so happy you're covering it
Fantastic video as always!!!! Keep it up
One of my favorite maps… ashamed that I never completed the Easter egg on this map. Wish we had zombies like this now days.
Same. Makes me sad. I could never get anyone to play with me.
Dude I'm so glad I found your channel, keep it up man you've got your own lane and you're killing it!
Honey, it's time to watch a new White Cliff zombies map analysis
I remember burried being one of my favorites because of how fun it is. I remember being a kid and whipping out a whole calculator so i could open the entire map and have a gun by round 1
Real intriguing analysis! you’d never think to see analysis vids as everyone’s doing too 10 maps and speed run videos so it’s so refreshing and fun to come across a genuine analysis video on cod zombies
Bro I have been anticipating this so much, I love this series+ buried is one of my favorite maps
this video is wonderful but i just wanted to say that buried wasn't the first instance of phd being back, it was back in motd with the grief mode where it had its perk machine
Such an amazing concept that feels fun and satisfying
that soundtrack that played when you ran through the maze always went so hard
I loved Buried, my old buddy and I had so much fun messing around on this map. Miss this kind of zombies
the point about specific mechanics taking an innovative way to solve a previous problem was mind blowing.
It was always cool to see what other groups called the big guy-- our group called him Lenny
your vids have been my inner 13yr old's bedtime stories lately lmao thanks for the nostalgia trips, you always hit the nail on the head. keep up the content WCG
Buried sits around top being one the best maps ever
My friends and I would've loved this map if it had a way to get multiple Paralyzers, the fact that it was findable round one didn't help. Basically we raced to the box and as soon as anyone found it someone else would start to throw or try to get the guy who had found it to die, it was even more of an issue with randoms online.
I wish we had stuck to it now that I see all this map had to offer.
The round 1 pack a punch challenge was my favourite thing about this map
Buried was one of my favorite maps, its sad they never remade it cause i don't have a way to play it anymore
I remember spending hours playing this map with my friends. One of my absolute favorite zombie maps
His name will forever be learoy
Buried was my favorite map by far i spent hours trying to get the light step down with a team for the easter egg.. Man i miss it
Man you’re one of the best new zombies channels!
Learn't how to play Zombies on this map, then played Mob of the Dead and Origins and was hooked.
Dude you explain everything so perfectly I’d love to see a fully storyline breakdown from you cuz it would be a lot better than these other ones just going thru the motions
buried is my most played map on bo2. this is a great video, as i’ve never thought about the reasons why i enjoyed it so much. very well done analysis.
Best memories come from Buried and then Tranzit. Tranzit as my girst map, and Buried as my favorite and my siblings' favorite
I will cherish the memories I've made on this map with my friends till the day I die. It will forever be my favorite.
I played Buried so much and all of BO2 zombies that even to this day I can read the signs in the tunnels for the EE
Buried still my favorite BO2 map and a top 5 map for me overall. Its just so dang good
I think the algorithm is really appericating you right now because you've been all over my feed. Well deserved. Cheers
I think you summarized this so well and gave appreciation to the thing me and my friends would stay up late doing :D
Using the mule kick and tombstone method of obtaining multiple paralyzers while camping the hallway at jugg will always be legendary.
Ahhh, a new video from you is like a breath of fresh air. Please keep it up 🙌
It amazes me that these memories were formed over a decade ago, I remember the day that I came home and bought the dlc for buried, me and my buddy Steven always played that map together, those memories I will cherish for a lifetime, it was an amazing experience back then to get a new zombies map, I was so deeply entranced with the story and lore at the time, I remember watching ngtzombies, rofflewaffles, and therelaxingend always staying up to date on new map finds
I did not know about Arthur being able to write the unused chalk on any wall! And I've had this dlc for about a year. So cool learning new things about a map
This was my favorite map, played it RELIGIOUSLY. Still didn't know some of this stuff, I love it
A lot of reasons why Buried is my all time fav zombies map
This legitimately is a great retrospective video on Buried
Buried was my most replayed map in the time between BO2 and BO3, I loved camping in the courthouse upper floor by jumping in with the Trample Steam, good shit
I didn't play zombies or CoD much when I was younger, but my brother did. I would occasionally play with him and his friends and this map is the only one that really stands out in my mind. You nailed it by pointing out how great the design of Buried is for the non-initiated.
I played this map until it was dust and I never knew Leroy could do SOOO many things with the candy. All I knew is he could lock and move the box and hold a zombie.
Arthur picking up a crawler is so adorable. it's like a little angry cat
I can't tell if you're an inexperienced player or an extremely experienced player because that gameplay was making me so anxious 😂 constantly trapped in a corner relying on self-damaging weapons to escape hahaha
Great video btw!
I had never heard of this map before, but now I'm really interested in going back and playing it for that casual fun aspect
The bank is the only addition that hindered down the map
Your content is so good. I was never very into the "zombies" community very much. I played 5his mapbwhen i was mucb younger and thought it was bad and too hard. Its very funny to see this now and go "yeah i was just bad" keep up the good work!
