  • No information whatsoever anywhere about who sang and played and engineered it. Normally this would be the end of the bio except for one thing. Thomas Jane. In his movie "Stander" about a cop turned robber, he celebrates his victory in dark silhouette dancing buck naked, he was really rockin' it and when he turned sideways to the camera, gyrating energetically I thought he was going to knock himself out with it. This song was playing and I instantly recognized it and I will always associate this song with that scene. Ahem.
After hearing Ahzz's "New York Moving" from 1981 I knew had to find out more about this group and what I did find is pretty interesting. If they had done an album, I would have called it "The Land Of Ahzz" but this was pretty much a one off. They were a production vehicle for Patrick Adams who gave us the energetic and salacious "In The Bush" b/w his ode to sunshine "Keep On Jumpin'" that propelled the disco single to the top of the Disco Chart for two weeks in mid-summer 1978.
Patrick Adams became a producer to note when I first heard Musique's "In The Bush" in 1978. Patrick met had met a producer named Peter Brown (No, not the same as the singer of "Dance With Me") and they formed a partnership that went on to explore the shattered universe of dance music after disco. This Peter Brown was a DJ who helped Four Below Zero get signed to Roulette Records and Patrick produced his session. He went on to become one of the most successful producers of disco and then moved into hip hop and invented unusual ways of miking that helped rappers get their message across by making their voices naturally more boomy.
The two used their main label P&P Records, to house several other independent labels with names like Queen Constance, Heavenly Star, Golden Flamingo, Sound Of New York and Land Of Hits. An early release on the last label gave us Ahzz post disco dance tune "New York Moving".

Wouldn't 1981 be a little late for this style of disco? Sounds like peak 1977/78!

Hi, DJDiscoCat! I would like to ask if you could make an extended version of 'You Got Everything' by Mighty Fire? That would be awesome!

Interesting story. Guess I forgot that Jocelyn Brown was part of Musique as well. I don't think her and Peter Brown were a thing though.
