I was playing this today... my team was Starmie, Electabuzz, and Jynx. Lance had Lapras, Charizard, and Gyrados. Lapras destroyed my Starmie and Electabuzz... so my only pokemon was Jynx. Jynx used psychic to kill Lapras. Charizard comes in, uses Flamethrower, but Jynx came back with a Ice Punch critical hit that killed Charizard. Gyrados came in, I decided to go for the Lovely Kiss, and it works. Gyrados stayed asleep. Jynx used Psychic, got a special lowered. Gyrados stayed asleep. I used psychic again, got another special lowered, Gyrados woke up, but I used Psychic again to win the match.

Yet they both also have simlair situations between the manga and the games like Red becoming the champion and Blue becoming the Viridian Gym Leader. Either way everytime I hear that it always makes me think of that.
Lance Was the Champion In Pokemon Gold Silver Crystal Heartgold and SoulSilver
Fast pokemon are best against Lance. He loves to use wrap, fire spin and thunder wave
