- Our first official video shoot was a visit to the Allen Edmonds Shoe Factory in Port Washington, Wisconsin. I can't remember exactly why, it was probably Ben Barkin's idea. Ernie was going to stay in Milwaukee for several days so we had to come up with someplace to go, and the shoe factory seemed as good as anyplace, particularly because they made his clown shoes. We were making it up as we went along, but this was exactly what we wanted to do, put Ernie out there meeting and greeting.
What a blessing to have such a noble himan being in our mist. God bless him and may he RIP.
Ernest Borgnine makes me feel closer to God. He is more than just another good guy. He is my hero, and represents the best of the human spirit. I truly loved that man.
Ditto that.😇
He had such a great sense of humor, he is missed very much, RIP Ernie.
When Ernie says, “I’m an AMERICAN!” 👍😢 He was a National Treasure ❤️
Wonderful man ...now with the Lord above 🙏🏻
This Country needs about a million Ernest Borgnines, but. Unfortunately there was only ONE. LOVE YOU ERNIE YOU WERE ONE OF A KIND, WE MISS YOU!
Ernest is defiantly one of the good guys. Miss you Ernie and I miss your generation, RIP.
A bunch of proud, hard working Americans.
When America made stuff!!!
Slick Willie sent all Americans jobs to Commie China.
I could never ever do this type of work..the samething over and over..they have my respect..
I could watch Ernie and his friends all day
I agree with you on that what a great man he was

Thank you to whoever put these videos up. Ernie is a gem. Reminds me of my father, a WW2 vet born in 1919. They don't make men like this anymore. What a kind gentleman. One of the people! I love Ernest Borgnino. Great Italian American.
What a great video... I hope places like this never close down... they seem to treat their staff more like family...
It will in Joe Bidens America
Wow, Ernie at 95. We wanted him to make it to 105. America was once full of shops like this.
Ernie borgnine 1 of my favorite movie stars of all I could tell he was a very nice down 2 earth man thanks 4 all the memories Ernie RIP my brother well miss u.
David Perez Jr. gg
His laugh always made me smile.

Beautiful man
ERNEST BORGNINE WAS A VERY NICE DOWN TO EARTH MAN!
What a wonderful person.
Love him.
he was 95 Robert Worsena So I hope life was pretty good to him
Gosh. The man was 95 y.o. when this video was made. He was born in 1917. It's amazing how he moves around and talks. A perfect health, a bit overweight though. It's inspiring.
This video was shot in 1995. He was 79 then.
America in the 90's seems like 100 years ago. Great videos of a great man. Thanks for sharing.
A great tribute to a man I loved watching growing up. Marti, McCales Navy! 😎 True American, fellow Veteran saluting!❤️
Priceless! God Bless! A generation later! One of the few Company's still made in America
This is a Hollywood legend who could be at the canns film festival in France hobnobbing with a listers but instead spends his time in rural America meeting everyday people what a great guy.
Ernie, what a great person, amongst other things he did loved the movie Marty,a really great movie acted to perfection.
True American and gentleman Ernest Borgnine
This is what AMERICA used to be. Great to see Mr. Bornine meeting / greeting these workers. God Bless You.
R.I.P. Mr. Borgnine You are truly missed ...
I’d never heard of Allan Edmonds shoes and I’ve been looking for a pair of comfortable dress shoes for pretty much my whole life. I think I’ll try Allan Edmonds.
Ernie had more Soul than the Entire factory Rest In Peace
I had a pair of Allen Edmond 'wing-tip' dress shoes back in the 1970's, great shoes.
I had Allen Edmonds my whole work life and still have two pair. I've had them resoled about three times. Two things not to go cheap on: guns and shoes.
What a great guy
"My parents home country, not mine. Because i'm an American." The country would be better off if more people felt this way.
I have relatives that were friends with Ben Franklin, George Washington, back in Philly so I'm an American when asked
SO TRUE
He is such a kind man I had no idea I just remember him from the kale's navy and now I'm into these videos it's fantastic.
And also thank you Alan Edmonds that was very interesting watching shoes being made I had no idea I am an Allen Edmonds fan and have probably 4 or 5 pairs of your shoes and even a few belts I'm so happy to see a great company like this surviving in America and to all the great workers that take pride in their skills
I have some pairs that I bought in the early 1980’s that I still wear !
What guy Willie is, he has my respect, as one person to another, who worked on machines.
Nice shoes, finally someone makes shoes in the U.S.
Ernie lived to be 95 years old. Great actor. Back when actors were also stars.
what a beautiful man....
Ernest was a such a big hearted and warm individual who loved life. He was a wonderful, versatile actor, who appeared in so many great films.
Mr Borgnine is a great Man
Love Ernest such a fine man he is sadly missed.
What an easy-going nice man
Bruh these are so good. Mermaid man’s VA is a true king
Miss my Brother Ernie. Been wearing Allen Edmonds shoes only since 1976.
I love that laugh!
Wow what a great guy loved his movies
this guy makes a great travel host man what a show
Great video! I love Allen Edmond shoes. I bought a pair years ago. They are $300 - $400 a pair, but worth it to me. I sent them in for “recrafting” at about 1/4 of the price of new. They certainly looked new when I received them back. Loved Ernest! It’s great to seem him being himself.
What a great man! So genuine
I Wish More People In The Movie
Business And Entertainment
Business Would Go Out Into Businesses And Meet Up With
Everyday Americans The Way
Ernest Borgnine Does That's
A Great American!
The woman who was tacking the soles on the shoes...she was the one that ran the machine, not the other way around. Listen to how it sounds like clockwork with each shoe. She's been doing that a long long time. That's what made America great. A different world.
I bet shoes sales spiked after this visit.
Some great people and a happy place to work. Wonder if it’s still around
I would have given him a big hug!
My favorite from Ernest is when he played on Airwolf. I am an older guy but I think I am too young for most of his work. Oh and the episode from Little House On The Prairie.
He’s have my vote.....great American Actor
Mr Ernest is a Great guy 👍🏻😃
Man I miss him😓
Ernie’s a great guy.
Great video. Driving the all American truck in the day. Ford explorer
I think quite a few of the workers here didn’t actually realise who this man was unfortunately, I think if I had the chance to shake his hand I wouldn’t want to let it go. Rest in peace Earnie .
Riveting. Nice visit with Ernie.
God wanted someone to talk with, so he picked Ernest Borgnine.
Thank you
If America had a daddy that would be Ernie!
Always loved his work seems like a very down to earth person
The best made shoes then. Maybe even now .
His laugh is priceless.
“I’ll be darned”.
I love the old timers talk lingo @ 9:31
Does anyone know what happened to Willie? I’m sure he has passed on but what a man full of energy at 71…26 years ago.
The greatest generation
Do they still make the shoes 👞 today in the USA 🇺🇸? ???
Those shoes look good enough to eat. 😄
I was going to pay $340.00 for a pair of hiking boots, but I think I'm going to try a pair of Allen Edmunds. Just bought two pairs on sale.
I want to buy some Allen Edmonds
They're on sale right now, just bought two pairs
such a nice man
How many movie stars humble themselves not many
Classic gentlemen
You are a traditional American grandpa
I got you beat" I was ready for willie to say he was in his 80's ...Dirty Hands clean Money// Anyone know the History of the Red Ring on Ernies left hand ? I see its been on their throughout his entire career
They're expensive, but most their shoes are still made in the USA. $300 was the equivalent of about 150 when this was made. If you want good American made products, you have to pay for them.
Something!
I m guessing Ernest Borgnine had a pretty good life he lived to be 95
Some 1 should have asked ok how much is it gona cost me this time Lyle? Not RIP but FLY HIGH ERNEST BORGNINE
when was this video taken?
Yes, Ernie is warm, friendly and remarkably down to earth. But what about those factory workers? Isn't it sad how they spend their lives all day doing the same monotonous task? Somebody worked there 54 years. They are surviving but they are not getting ahead. Now Allen Edmonds makes a lot of shoes overseas where it can replace its loyal workers with even cheaper labor. If they could replace these workers with machines they'd do it in a week.
I could never do a factory job
People today don't realise what a total hollywood A lister Ernie was ...granted in this he's just on a roadtrip and doing what he wants ...but I don't think Tom Cruise or another A lister of today would ever behave in such a down to earth way touring a shoe factory just for the hell of it .....todays Hollywood A lister in my eyes are not a patch on the golden days of the 40s 50s and some in the 60s in Hollywood
He never put them I just wanted TV show airwolf
This was a shoe-in...
He kissed the baby and mom didn’t freak out
Allen Edmond three to four hundred dollars for a pair of shoes. Too rich for me. Hard to even find people to resole them anymore. I used to buy $50 Florsheims they were good enough for me.
They want American made, but no one wants to pay 400 for shoes, most can't afford it. U can't find decent domestic shoes for$50 or even100
@@joeambrose3260 allen edmonds and alden are the only domestic shoemakers too. Since everyone mentions price, the cheapest you can get is Meermin which retail around $200 and are arguably higher quality than AE. Meermin shoes are made in China though...
Was McHale a clown at some point ?👺
Nike's killed all this.
I am 10 1/2 4D WIDE
I’m an American! Hahaha!
Where's that Willard at? I bet he's playing with those rats again.? 😅😅😄
SEE! We don't need the Chinese to make shoes,, or anything else, just need American companies to stop being so dam greedy
The shoes are made in the Dominican Republic now....js
Ernest 12 years..? Quality cause but if you look at the time factor Quality is cheeper.
The buy a new Mercedes you drive it for 20 years you give it to your daughter to go to college, she drives it for 20 years and gives it to her daughter to go to college. The dadgum does Mercedes diesel does 2 million miles. And it's not the diesel engine that doesn't it's the transmission, because Any diesel will do that. But the transmition 2 million miles.. Thats 40+ years one car when you add up how many other worthless cars you would have bought and look at the difference in the price it looks real cheap now quality yes it does..!
:/
Making shoes for rich people. 54 years. It's the only place locals can work. Factory work is tedious and horrible.
