    For a real beginner, rehab, or the elderly, even adding one plate to a minimal stack can be a big percentage jump. I am way old and getting in shape again and had to start with only 2 bricks and three was a 50% jump, way too big an increase. Wit this tip I can just add a small weight and slowly increase to the next step and never have to worry about stability as long as I lube the rods. Thank you

      I am in the same boat as you are, the next plate was too heavy! I am going to try this option with a smaller weight plate.

    Should add a disclaimer to be careful bc that cable can't hold unlimited weight.

      Most of the decent gyms have cables that can withstand over 1,000 lbs of force and weight

      Your not the only one. I feel so dumb even though I added a lightweight to it like this before but using just the one pin and didn't even think I could just use another pin near there middle to add buffer weights.
      Edit: I meant bigger weights but I like buffer weights lol

    I just combined both my 220lb stacks using a hook system onto the same wire (had to weld on some extra pulleys), this seems to be a much better way, especially if you can add weight on the front and back (I often feel the supporter rods are too flimsy to allow for too much off-center add-on weight). Will def. try this out :)

    Could a Marcy home gym (150 pounds) carry extra weight?

      My problem later on. How to add weiggt. Home gyms are some limited in weight stack. When starting lifting it's fine but later on. And I don't mean I need double the weight. But 150 lbs can pass in year or two.

    My stack machine keeps lagging the lifter doesn’t go back into the slot do you know how can I fix that???

  • @AmorFati777X
    @AmorFati777X 4 роки тому +1

    Awesome. My machine only has two 82.5lb stacks plus the add on weights with a 1:2 ratio. They wont sell me an expansion stack because they say the frame cant support more for stability reasons... Do you think adding a pair of 45s via this method will be a big deal and/or do you have any tips for creating additional stability? (I asked manufacturer about maybe bolting to the floor and they said they don't recommend it.)

  • @franklevantini3239
    @franklevantini3239 6 місяців тому

    I bought a home gym was wondering how to add weight since home gyms are limited to like 150lbs. Machines have limits but no spotters needed like barbells. Feel safer using a machine. For later on.

    This is how you break the cable, because the machine isn’t rated for more weight than it has.
