Do you remember, Donkey's birthday is the 21st of Semptember? Warrior Monks were changing the minds of pretenders While chasing the Takeda awaaaay! Our hearts were sinking in the key that our coffers were stinking as we danced in the night, remember - how the stars stole the night away, yeah yeah yeah. Hey hey hey, ba de ya - say do you remember ba de ya - dancing in a surrounded September ba de ya - Always a cloudy daaaay!! Happy Birthday, though, this campaign is a ton of fun.
I’ve been traveling across Spain and this series has been great to watch at night ! Keep it going ! Also happy birthday !!! 🎊 belated at this point haha
37:41 you can still do that tactic even without having ranged units. you use a general/cav as a bait, make sure the baited unit is far from it's friends, then charge your other generals/cav into the baited unit. they would still be aggroed towards the original bait and will rout in seconds from the charge it works better than the one you suggested with the ranged units actually
Except you can't lure them far enough away from their own ranged units, so while you're destroyed the baited unit, your cav will be getting shot by their remaining archers.
True, it is harder to kite archers. It is hard to make the exact distance needed. When they stop chasing and you got too close to get back their attention, u take arrow shot. Having other units getting too close(when setting up for the kill move) will make archers change agro targets and cav normally will take the hits. It is only possible(but rare) to be not damaged at all when you make the perfect distance which you get out of the range at the moment the archer get ready to stop and fire. My point is it takes alot of constant precisions kitting, possible but you probably need set time into unlimited. And a few mistakes later, your cav gone. Anyway it is possible but... it will be pain in the ass cause a few mistakes, u need a reload. Can try hiding some units to change enemy facing. They will turn to face biggest visible group. Furthermore , there is no forest nearby so that your cav can takes less shots when charging toward kited archers. Low armour units not really that great for kitting. And in this campaign state, every man counts
MrSmartDonkeyLP From my experience (playing on very hard) you still can. Yes, in most cases your cav will end up being shot, but again..it only takes 1 good charge and a few seconds in melee to rout the baited archer. You’re realistically not going to loose much of your cav Also, keep in mind that the location of the baited unit matters. You’d wanna bait the archer on the right/left-most side of the army, so you only bait that 1 archer and not a bunch of them. Don’t bait units in the middle You do need to micro-manage, like baiting them by getting the aggro, then going back and fourth (in walking speed) to keep their aggro, but I’ve just won an ‘impossible’ fight and saved my campaign using this, so I’m more than sure it works ;3
@@nawfalmisconi1287 i have no exp playing very hard ( no bragging, just want to point out my strategy may not usable in other difficulty). I think the end result will be like what smartdonkey said. You cant kite archer too far away from main archer line. In the process of chasing down routed archers, your cav will get close to main archers line and get shot because in most cases the archers will routed toward enemy line. You can choose not to chase but routed archers may come back. Normally during 1 kit, you may take 1 or 2 volleys, normally you will lose 5 or 6 horses in each volley. My point is the loses on loses wont be neligible. One small mistake, u will lose even more and need a reload. And there is a limit to the number of unit u can kite. Once they lost a certain amout of units due to this kitting method, they will hold the ground and will no longer take the bait. This units depends on their amy unit size. I normally just kite out melee units until they wont take bait, then storm in. Kitting archer is different because in calculation , archers doesnt counter cav when alone while spear counter cav alone, that is why spear units will chase your cav down alone while archers most likely fall back to main line after certain distance which is not far from main line. But kitting archers is pain the butt cause they normally wont come alone and wont chase too deep , it is doable but frustrating. Lol.
R G like I said before, you need to bait archers on the right/left most side of the line, that way only a few archers will be able to shoot your cav. And you don’t really need to give chase, 1 charge and a few secs in melee will be enough to rout the archers I’ve used this just yesterday against an army that had 6 archers, took them all out with this tactic I guess I can’t really explain it well since it’s working wonders for me but a lot of people now saying it doesn’t work that well xD
Hi MrSmartDonkey Love your videos. I watch many of them. have learned much from you. I have never seen you pay tribute to avoid being declared war upon. It is a possibility i have found while playing legendary. If you pay 50 regular to minor nation, and 500 to major nation, they will not attack you. Which is quite cheap compared to keeping a standing army. I often use it to avoid fighting on multiple fronts.
Question! Sometimes you do something so you see what your previous orders were to the units. Like you can see the yellow area of where you sent them. How is this done? (Ty in advance if anyone responds)
hi mr. donkey, can you tell me why standing a unit in between a enemy routed unit and the exit they're escaping to gets lots of kills in this game, but very few if any in Warhammer? thanks love your shogun 2 content
The real problem with this challenge is that unit upkeep in this game is way too high. You simply can't make enough money to support the armies you need to actually fight the armies invading you, let alone take the provinces you need and fund your agent actions and building constructions...
Hi MrSmartDonkey, your videos inspired me to play Shogun 2 after a long time, but my game seems to crash on startup. Have you encountered similar problems? Any ideas on why this might be?
@@MrSmartDonkeyLP Turns out the problem was steam beta participation, hopefully when the update goes mainline it won't break the game. Thanks for answering anyway.
I know it's unlikely that u will see this but I have been watching you play shogun for years and I was just thinking that if it wasn't for you I wouldn't know what this game was.
Why do people assume I don't read comments? I read every single one. Glad you found Shogun 2 through my videos though, you have found the light it seems. :D
Wow...such a dirty AI....Corner Camping, on a Hill, with ranged advantage and a few bits of Forest....with Yari Ashigaru no less to completly Yari Wall any and all access in theory.
To be honest, i think you need to restart the campaign again. Your clan went bankrupt. It screwed up your town growth big time and gave u negative rating in diplomacy. It will be hard to score a peace treaty when you bankrupt once. If you dont want to give up this attempt, i would recommend go for encampment. If you want to have a chance to succeed, you need split your army into half, you dont need much for defend. You need take your army go to right side and loot all the way because even 3 towns economy cant support full stack monk upkeep. Use the funds to fortifide and build 3 or 4 main town and train army. Dont overextend tho, i suggest loot whole takeda region since they are weakend now. Vassal some weak clans to recover lost honour. Make low loot income town into vassal. Might as well bring a monk along with your looting army for instant army support by incite unrest. And 1 more thing, dont put more than 1 general in one stack cause only the main general got exp out of the battle, seperate the extra generals into different stacks.

Yeah got the same "disobedience" bug.
It's frustrating to defend positions when it happens.
Fantastic wins! The enemy letting you get an army was the real strategic mistake.
One dislike from Takeda Shingen
That Cavalry charge straight into a Yari Ashigaru was painful to watch. Still, nobody's perfect, and it was amusing.

I saw you charge those cav into yari and not notice. I was like NO!!!!!!! Lol
This shit is more addictive than any tv series. I need one more ep. Now. (That is the way, how i'm saying cool vid)
Yeah, when units bug out and won't move as ordered, the only thing that helps is standard clicking them back a little bit then reissue the order.
Happy B-DAY! Those battles were fun!
To see all the enemy units you can just press the button up on your general (round, your clan emblem)

Don't give up on the campaign yet.. that Hattori campaign, you had 6-7 60 men units, here you've got 160..
Happy birthday donkey :)
The Warrior monks have become my favorite units
This looks familiar remember the otomo vs ikko ikko fight 1full stack vs 3 and a half

Because of the (shitty) health system in WARHAMMER. I much prefer the Shogun system.
