if you were on rock could you have placed the pipe on rock and then cover the pipe with gravel? OR is the 3" of initial base required for some reason (other than make things level)?
The 3” of rock does help to get a level area to lay the pipe but it also creates an area for air and radon to move around the pipes and into the holes in the pipe and out of the building. The top of the rock will covered with a 15 mil vapor barrier made by Stego with all of the seams taped and sealed. If you had solid rock below you could put the pipe on it and then cover with 3/4” washed rock like we did here and it should work just fine. If you have any more questions please let me know!
