Check the Torque convertor shield. Sometimes they get bent and rub on the flywheel. Remove it and try it again. It happens a lot. Just something I have found before. Also check for backed out torque convertor bolt.
I spent two weeks visiting Alberta, British Columbia, and Yukon in late June, early July. Your country is absolutely beautiful. Lots of trees, lakes, and wildlife.
Miss BC, it's one heckuva a beautiful Province. No other province can top it, especially, in the midst of the Rockies as far as i'm concerned, I use take folks on horseback through the mountains, did it for a couple years. It was some of the best days of my life, when I was a younger man before I ever decided to settle down and have a family.
I shredded a few tarps before discovering canvas drop cloth for painting! Epic road trip fellas. I’ve enjoyed all the versions from both you and Brent @halfass customs too.
That little S10 looks like a blast to drive. Glad he made it stick. Makes it so much more fun. Some beautiful scenery going across this wonderful country of ours. Looks like you and Brent had a great time. Look forward to more about the ramp truck woes. Be safe and stay well.
Great road trip thanks for the ride along it was a fun video with beautiful views. Been a long time since I've been in Canada. 72 now probably won't make it back again? But loved the stops along the way nice old iron and the people are very nice , love the spider hot rod so cool unbelievable amount of labor he put into it and all by ✋ you.
Take it easy Bro, hand crafting and making peoples dreams come true is a real thing. I know first hand sponsorships are like a godsend at first. 3 months later they display your builds as their own. Patent the shizz out of the stuff you do. 30 years later it will just be memories of the good ole days with nothing to back your word up.
Having watched all three versions (almost) of this road trip I can honestly say each one is as entertaining as the other. I have to laugh some dead pan humour mixed in with boundless enthusiasm.. what’s not to like..
Oh no.... A Canadian version of roadkill ..... loves it. .... Howdy from Oregon my favorite Canuck fab-tubers. Wish they had those plasma tables at an affordable price when I was still fabing, a torch or at the end plasma cutter. Love both your creations, take care, stay safe, cool and free Y'alllll !
Great trip, road trips are fun with a buddy. My tarp flew apart when I brought home my FastCut a few years ago. If I did it again I'd shrink wrap the table with moving blankets and then tarp it and shrink wrap the tarp. The galvanizing on my side panels got all scuffed up from the tarp flapping. At least you guys go a nice dry trip.
Yeah, the weather held out for us the whole time. Pallet wrapping works the best I agree over top of moving blankets and then using a tape grid pattern to hold the pallet wrap down keeps everything from destroy itself.
Great video Karl and Brent Great Flag hanging in. Jeff’s shop Nice Elk Bert and John Have some nice collection of vintage cars and parts Awesome road-trip
I am going with Torque converter . It is a bugger when this sort of problem raises its head. You are making the right call not to push on as heavy towing cost is sooooo expensive. At least you still have the large trailer and the truck.(Ute)
That widow maker is a thing of beauty ain't she? 💚🇬🇧🌱 Great road trip guys, shame about the ramp truck but that's unforseen & unfortunate but at least you caught it while still local...x
Pretty cool trip. FastCut for the win. Bullwinkle and Elk look different. That was an elk in velvet. In my experience elk will run from you but moose just stand and eat unless you disturb them. Seen both out in western USA. Elk in Colorado and Moose in Wyoming.
2:43 On a positive note: If you gotta be broke down by the side of the road, that's the best-looking rig you're going to see broke down by the side of the road.
So sorry about your truck, I feel your pain! Gotta make a pitstop in Lethbridge, AB on your way home. It’s Street Machine Weekend!!! One of the best car shows around. We are headed there this weekend hope to see you there.
I’ve been saying this to him for months! I’m building a 1960 Apache. Just got er on the road yesterday. I’ll be there for the cruise on Friday. Keep your eyes peeled for a turquoise and white patina 4x4. I bet I’m the only one that’ll be there
Check your e brake drum, You have felt a braking issue since you first brought it out. It is also possible that when the Drum E brake housing wasnt aligned Id start there but also put a trans line gauge and see what your line pressure is
Get under that thing with a mechanics stethoscope and figure out where the noise is coming from first. I would check the starter first, and then move forward and back to get a better idea of where it is. I had a similar issue come up with a "whirring" rubbing sound. I hoped it was the transfer case chain, but the stethoscope said "nope, near the front of the transmission." Sure enough when I pulled the pump out of the transmission, the first clutch pack on top had been assembled upside down by some idiot (me), which allowed a steel plate to get up into the snap ring groove. $0 fix, just the pain of pulling it out and apart again.
My dad turned 100 years old in march this year, if he said "I am 76 years old, I don't think I have much time for my hobbies" he would have been dead at 80.
I have a 97 ranger I bought it’s fourth transmission. Didn’t bother installing it that was almost 20 years ago. The problem it had with the rebuilt and two after that. Rear seal go and blow out all the fluid and it would scream like it had straight cut gears till the tranny couldn’t go anymore. I think the drive shaft is/was out of balance to blow all the fluid out the rear seal on more then one tranny. Plan for a 5.0.
Mine did the same. NEW parts and flywheel and starter didn't like each other and unable to shim and inspection plate was after market and shit as well. PS Liked your wearing the besoke shirt. Saw you at the Hotrod show at Rosehill hill last year. Owe me a sausage roll lol
"Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, at least they'll find you handy" 😁 Since you're going through Saskatoon, on the way back you should dig up Kyle @Carter Auto Restyling. Check out his chicken truck project.
Had a truck come in with a similar sound. Was the pcv system done improperly and the vac in the crankcase was sucking the seals in making a similar sounds. Run it with the oil cap off if the sound stops that might be it. Hope so, as it’s an easy fix!
Loose bolt on flywheel or against torque converter was what I meant. Maybe leading to converter not being fully seated and causing rubbing impeller hub or tang.
Hey Karl. I’m a 3rd generation metal fabricator ( My.son is 4th generation). My father now calls me a woodworker. Same thing, you calculate your length to your stock, but with timber, you pick the best section of stock to fit the purpose. Hope this helps Ps, you have to get the properties of your timber.
Can crosscut do an engine block? Try a JDM Kei car F6A block. Twin head gaskets, with the homebrew engine block spacer. This can only be done with a suzuki F6a engine, as it has a timing belt, huge play and array of adjustable timing sprockets. Do this and you will need test Pilots, the fastest cars I played a hand in building I never drove.
Yea! we love road trips , sorry about your "trans" I think Citroen 2CV came out with a 4x4 , it had one engine and gearbox in the front and one in the back . Maybe a future project?
I so envy you guys that live in such nice places for driving. Here in flat ass Florida it's pretty boring to drive which is why I end up focusing completely on racing and not just building fun drivers.
You need to do proper diagnostic burnout ! The squealing noise could be the PCV system, next time it makes the noise take the oil filler cap off If it stops the PCV is stuck or the hoses are routed incorrectly.
I think you’re right basically if it does get burn out than nothing is wrong. Because a good burn out is really the only objective of any build ha ha ha ha
@@MakeItKustom Awesome man happy to help. I’ve been in the standard Auto Repair industry since 2002 and in the performance side of things last 12 of that just now getting into fabrication and metal work. I Have seen it several times on 4l60 and 4l80 applications. Glad it’s an inexpensive fix 🎉
Unlikely rear seal, until now the sound was intermittent like an idler or tensioner bearing, too shrill, metal on metal bearing sound. Very likely going to be the Torque converter pump.
Had a starter in an ls do that. Starts fine, and would quit while accellerating. Return spring in solenoid broke.so drive was floating against ring gear. Horrible noise that would come and go.
Because it still drives ok and it seems to have the same RPM sound as the engine I am guessing it is the Torque converter oil Pump that b is your Squeak. Noise is possibly the bolts on the flexplate to torque converter backing out and the heads are shaving down the casing. Unfortunate.., probably best to remove and inspect.
Check the Torque convertor shield. Sometimes they get bent and rub on the flywheel. Remove it and try it again. It happens a lot. Just something I have found before.
