I heard somewhere that when the Amish (or maybe it was Mennonite) women sew their dresses or knit something, even if it is going perfectly, they leave a small mistake somewhere on the item because God is the only one who is perfect and not humans. I always liked the concept, and it made it much easier to accept small mistakes or mishaps in my me mades.
Excellent pattern review! I am glad someone shared the bit about Amish quilters including an imperfection in their work, because I'm coming late to the video with the same comment and you needed it.❤Kelly
Glad it was helpful! Thank you yes that was so lovely to hear about Amish quilters, I think that is such a nice idea and definitely very helpful for reframing my view on the imperfection on my dress 🥰
Lovely, lovely dress Cath. So pretty and very you ! 😊 Your review was excellent too and, what comes across so clearly is the absolute joy you derived from the making process. Have a lovely week Cath xx 😊
I adore this dress! I loved that fabric when you first shared it, and I think you've given it a perfect home in this dress! Thanks for your thoughtful review and I hope you gets lots of wear out of this one!
I like the Kelly dress. You are so meticulous that you got a great product. I really appreciate the time you take to fit as you go so there is no huge fit surprises at the end I love the fabric because it just fits in to your daily wear with no fuss Thanks so much for sharing
Love it! This pattern reminds me of the Guinea Sax dresses we wore in the 1970’s when I was a teen. Also the Laura Ashley dresses in the 1980’s-90’s. Kind of American west in a good way. This pattern looks fresh and feminine. Great job!
Love this pattern so much! Just had to get it! Thanks for such a great review! Bit scared that it’s marked as advanced!!! Your version is just beautiful
Fab I can’t wait to see your version! 😍 I definitely found the idea of the advanced skill level scary too! But the instructions are brilliant and I know you’ll ace it ☺️
The dress is so beautifully made Cath. Very late with watching the video but it is worth it. Noone would ever notice the fraycheck mark it should fade with washing. You have chosen such lovely fabric and i think the one with longer sleeves and no frill for autumn would make a cosy dress. Great to watch and love the summer dress too. Patricia x
Thank you so much Patricia 😊 Thank you, I do hope the fraycheck mark will fade. Yes I agree a no frill version with longer sleeves would be so nice for autumn x
Great review Cath. Your new dress looks lovely on you. I appreciated hearing about the instructions. I think I have a Vera top pattern by Forget-Me-Not patterns that I haven't sewn up yet but have heard many positive comments about. Also appreciated your chat about the type of fabric. I love cotton gauze and often see it on woven pattern fabric recommendations. One top I made with it is sooo comfy but it definitely grew since the sew and I don't think I would want a shirtdress out of it. Still..have a couple pieces left I need to figure out a pattern for. One I'm going to use for a nightgown as that won't matter if it loosens. xx Karen
On the front collar where you dropped the Fray Check, I might try matching a marker to your fabric and just touching it up slightly. Speaking from experience, next time, try rubbing alcohol to remove the excess Fray Check and blotting instead of rubbing. I also found that markers will cover where the paint might be coming off on an invisible zipper pull tab. Lovely dress and really like the pattern. Thanks for reviewing.
It's such a blow when something goes wrong at the end of a project, I once cut off the point of a collar while trying to trim a thread 🤦♀️ The dress looks lovely on you and seems like a good pattern for people who really enjoy the sewing process.
I really like the dress you are wearing. The print is beautiful. I'm going to be making my first Tilly Burton over the next few days. The Nell is a red gingham Merchant and Mills gingham.

I would not worry about the mark, it is really not visible . Love the dress and the one you are wearing.

Thanks very much Karen, I’m so glad you found the review good 😊 I think double gauze sounds perfect for comfy nightwear xx
I hope you'll find with each wash the fray check softens and should be clear .... its a lovely dress on you!
Thank you very much! Fingers crossed re the fray check

Thank you very much for the tip, I will see if I can find a marker that has a good match! 😊
Did not notice the gray check spot here or on Instagram. Thanks for the thorough review.
Oh good I’m glad it’s not too noticeable! Thank you!
Great sew.
Thank you 😊
Beautifully sewn. It looks lovely on you! Thanks for sharing ❤ xx
Thank you very much! 😊❤️ xx
Great dress, very good review, not sure if I have the confidence yet to sew this one, but I love the pattern so it's a maybe for me x
Thank you very much x

Thank you very much 😊 Oh fab a Nell dress in red gingham sounds gorgeous, happy sewing!
I have just made the Nell in a pink gingham with puff ball sleeves, I love it!
Try not to worry about that mark. I don't think anyone will notice it
Even knowing that the mark is there i cannot see it
Thank you, that’s really good to know!
