Was visiting my son's family in Taylor outside of Detroit a couple of years ago and decided to check out their pawn shop. It was easy to find a parking spot, I walked in and the daughter, Ashley was actually working the counter. I was looking at watches and she came over to ask if I needed help. Didn't buy anything but did talk to her a bit, she was extremely nice. Saw the son but didn't talk to him. Les came out and walked around the shop talking to customers. I was impressed. They seem like genuinely nice folks.

This not a reply, just my thought. Seth always seems to want to challenge a customer he disagrees with to a one on one settlement. Seth comes around the counter all puffed up an states , well here I am, all 140 lbs. And surrounded by 300 lb. Security guards. Without Security Seth would have had a bowel movement. I wish Ashley looked as attractive as she feels. I am no T bone steak myself. So why do I watch the show, It sure beats the bachelor etc. Sleep well, everyone. Just my opinion.

I visited the pawn shop in June 2013 when my daughter got married in Detroit and I had a day to kill. There were few people in the store but they were filming that day. A producer asked me if I would consider "standing in line for about 20 minutes" so the background looked like the store was very busy. Almost all the customers in the store agreed to do this as well. I watched them film as a supposedly irate customer tried to return a TV that he claimed didn't work after got it home after purchasing it at the shop. The guy was joking and laughing between the 5 takes where they filmed him yelling and generally being beligerent as instructed by a producer. As part of the scene, he was marched out the door with his broken TV - 5 times. Not staged, no acting? B.S. The whole scene was scripted by a producer/director who coached the ALL players in the scene every step of the way. The show was totally fabricated, AND this scene made it onto a televised episode!

My girlfriend and I literally just met all of them, except for Ashley, last saturday 12/10/16, and they're awesome people! The store is a real pawn shop, but they are also very real people too. Real accommodating and personable if you're not ridiculous to them. Les even sent us to one of his favorite restaurants and told us to drop his name, how cool is that!! Great show, great people, it's how America should be in all towns, in all states, and how people should be anywhere in the world.

It's nice to see honesty from the staff at Hardcore Pawn especially when it's televised. Les and his family run a proper business with the best intentions to his customers and staff. A lot of television programs are made up for the viewers but this is the real deal. There's not many people who would tell you that a $100 item is worth $10,000. Most pawn shops would not be so honest and make a huge profit. A little honesty goes a long way in my books!

Ashley did not give a woman 10k for her ruby. In fact Ashley was the one person in the shop claiming they were all useless bits of glass. It was actually Les that said im sure this is a ruby and got it checked out. Ashley was just there when they told the woman how much it was worth. But it was 100% les who was on the side of the woman, not ashley

Not to mention in a separate episode Seth called an older lady back into the shop to talk about merchandise she sold.

Totally real show. Like when they barge into see Les in his office and there just happens to be a camera man in there focused on the door waiting for it to open. Or like the very last episode I ever watched when once they barged in, during repositioning of the camera there was a brief shot of the floor showing three red taped Xs. Then Seth and Ash walked forward and stopped exactly were two of the Xs were. After Seth made his opening complaint Ash stepped forward to the location of the third X to run her mouth. All of which just happened to have left them perfectly framed up for other multiple angle camera shots. But the stars of the show say it's totally unscripted so obvious it has to be.

It's even funnier when they take it out to the carpark 'coz if their security went back inside without them they would quite literally crap their pants.

I saw the show where the woman wanted $100.00 for her bag of stones. In reality, Ashley thought the stones were cheap costume jewelry stones. She didn't even know that the red stone WAS a Burmese Ruby. Les happened to see the red stone and brought it to the guy who certifies their stones who just happened to be in the store that day. The Gemologist authenticated the stone as being a rare Burmese Ruby. Bottom Line....Ashley didn't know her stones. This video wants to give Ashley all the credit when she was about to turn the woman down. Les and the Gemologist saved the day. Ashley is a joke.

It actually makes more sense to appraise honestly because it will increase your credibility for high value items, which garner the heaviest commissions. You can make one profit, or a bunch if you are honest, because it will gain more clientele. But, I do agree, "truth" is used pretty loosely in this context, especially if it's "untold" considering they literally said this was on a radio interview.

+Anibal Perez I've been to Detroit many times, I had to go there on buissness a lot over the course of a few years. I saw the biggest rat in my life there!! People say that rats are big in New York but I've been to both places and Detroit is just a nasty place. Abandoned houses and stores with Graffiti everywhere so there might be something to what you said about the crackheads. Although you said that the Pawn Star guys are only nice because the cameras are there, but they are at both locations and only one group of people are rude. Pawnshops are generally associated with people that are in a tough spot and need cash quick, also one could argue that their main clientele are typically drug addicts or just shady people in general. I know not everyone that visits a pawnshop is a criminal or a less then desirable person but they can sometimes earn that reputation especially if there location is in a bad area but truth be told you can find some good deals at pawnshops.
