- The Way to Heave is a 15 minute animated short film that based on a Chinese myth about an ancient elephant god who decided to sacrifice staying in heaven for the betterment of the Guilin.

This made me cry. Its so insaine how man has abused our elephant siblings. They are gentle with us. I pray they overcome human evilness more than the current level.
Beautiful story. The way to heaven can be interpreted in so many ways. The elephant giving his life so that others can live, to choose between getting all the glory at the expense of others or sharing that glory for everyone's benefit.

At first I thought the animation was sub-par, but I was soon proven wrong. The emotions on the elephants face, the way his eyebrows flow with the wind, his sheer size that's later shown in the vid, the birds flying graciously in the sky, even the animation of the fly on the log was amazing. On top of that, this was one of the only credit rolls I actually watched, and the music was beautiful :)

Beautiful and heart warming story. With regard to a previous comment on the story's relationship with the legend of Hindu God Ganesha, I would like to say that the film reminded me more of Airavata and his siblings. Airavata is the mount of Hindu deity Indra and his siblings are Divine Elephants who support the world on their shoulders. The beginning scene depicting the journey of the Elephants to Heaven reminded me of Airavata and his siblings 😊
I was thinking it was the story of the Indian elephant god, Ganesh. But, I'm only slightly familiar with the story of Ganesh. And didn't know there was a Chinese version. Could they be related!? .
I translated the chinese text which has a bit more information.
"Elephant Mountain" is a fifteen-minute animated short film. The story is the myth and legend of the Elephant Trunk Mountain in Guilin, Guangxi, China. As a symbol of the spirit of local ancestors, the elephant made sacrifices for the entire natural environment and left us a beautiful environment for our ancestors. We should protect it. This story also tells us that the meaning of life is not only to take, but more to give, for the whole nature and society. So this short film is also a cartoon about environmental protection.

just found this short, been to china many times and guilin was my base camp for my touring the country. the mountains in the movie made me think wow its just like guilin, then looking here i find it is the elephant trunk mountain story i was told about by friends in china. how cool! been to the mountain many times beautiful place. the city has a huge statue of three elephants in one of the large business centers in the city. really neat to come across this and my connection watching the short. amazing.

@@floatingworldanimation1527 i did allot of travels in china over 20 years until just before covid broke out. (northern silk road routes from X'ian, grottoes. wanted to now see tibet and the river cities north of shanghai) i am not the usual tourist. i spent allot of time with the people of china. stayed with people i met along the Li river and was taken out fishing on the the Li river, the 5 bamboo pole boats and cormorant fishing birds. in the movie several times the scene clearly shows the pear blossom river into the Li river and i was wow this look like i know this place. then the elephant hill so i had to check the credits and saw it was Guilin. i apologies in my excitement to write i got some things mixed up with the 3 elephant statues in the business district, that is in Nanning china another place i spent allot of time where one of my friends/guide and interpreter lived. its home to allot or expats from the west. many tourist boats and private tours down the LI river. one of the scenic views there captured on the 20 yuan bill. wish thing were not so tense these days would love to continue my travels in china. really enjoyed the telling of the story in animation i was told so many times and years ago.

Elephant Mountain is one of main tourist attractions at Guilin.
Legends are main thing which telling the story behind Natural Wonders in this world.
Elephant deity, originally from India, spread together with Hinduism and Buddhism to some part of Asia including my region at Southeast Asia. At Borneo, there was Ganesh statue found at Limbang, north of my state Sarawak.
In my people's story, elephant is mighty animal until one day a cunning mousedeer make scaring this elephant after bullying small animals by measuring his hair with one of porcupine's quill. This is why elephants cannot be found at Borneo except Sabah. Until Sultan of Brunei bring some from somewhere, probably from Peninsula Malaysia and set them loose into jungle.

Judging from the story (as well as the video description) I'm guessing the elephant in this tale is essentially the Chinese equivalent to Prometheus bringing fire to mankind.
This hill is real. It is situated in Guilin City, one city of Guangxi province in south China. This province is above and shares certain stretch of boundary and sea area with Vietnam.
These Asian Elephants have no tusks, IRL only the bulls (boys) grow them. i almost mistaken them for girls. In a army you see only bull elephants with tusks

Thanks for the question:) The elephant got left behind at this space where suffering natural disaster unexpected, and it using its divine power to bring back life to the space. But to Jade Emperor, there is balance between god and human world. no one can break the balance without explicit approval, so he ordered the dragon to bring the elephant back to haven. But the elephant already fell in love with the space and the people, doesn't want to go back. But that's against the heaven‘s commandments, So the dragon used the sword pin the elephant in the space so it can't use power in human world anymore. But in the end elephant's spirit got to stay:) which that's its wish.
