I loved this list! My husband and I watch an old western everyday. These actors are in so many of shows. Always love watches no them. Great actors each and everyone one of them.
Jack Elam had a career that spanned a few eras. From starring with Gary Cooper in High Noon to starring with Tim Allen in Home Improvement as a guest. One of the great character actors, definitely.
L.Q. had an energy that made you want to watch him.Good guy or bad he would steal the scene.Elam was outstanding when teamed with james garner in their 2 movies.
Two that definitely deserve a mention, first is Gene Evans. So many guest spots in westerns and movies I can’t count. But I especially remember him as the dying mountain man in the gunsmoke episode, Tatum. And then, James Gregory. The arch villain in the John Wayne movie the sons of Katie Elder. Also, numerous westerns. Was the creepy senator in the movie the Manchurian candidate was extremely funny as the inspector in the great sitcom Barney Miller.
Some of my favourite were Chuck Connors, Hank Worden, Ray Teal, Harry Morgan, Karl Malden, Guinn William's, Noah Berry, Eli Wallach, Robert J Wike, Warren Oates, Claude Akins, Arthur Hunnicutt, oh ye. Ward Bond, Paul Fix, George Kennedy, Bud Taylor, my favourite villain's/ good guy's were,🥁 LEE VAN CLIFF🥇🗽 & JACK ELAM🥇🗽
Myron Healy and Harry Lauter, two of my all-time favorites as "soft" villains, guys who liked the roles of being the heel in movies because they say it was easy money. Being the "star" meant you carried the movie or show, bad guys were free to interpret their own role so long as it didn't top the "star", many times they just improvised on the spot with no script other than the director saying, "o.k. Myron, you come into the bar like you're mean and looking for a fight...".
There is another hard worker who appeared in your last clip from RawHide (he was next but one on the right of RG Armstrong) who has appeared in at least 🦬16 western Movies & over 🐎20+ western Series an at least 1 mini-Series , he`s was in 4 Episodes of in Rawhide , Laramie , Have Gun-Will Travel & Zane Grey Theatre , 8 episodes of Gunsmoke & 2 episodes of both Bonanza & Daniel Boone , "He Is Harry Dean Stanton" or "Dean Stanton" as he appeared in most of his early work , Inbetween 1926--2017 he left us with 207 film & Tv performances , so I think he`s more than earned his place if you do a part two of this list 🐴..
Jack Elam had a short stint in the 70s playing the Frankenstein’s Monster in the sitcom, Struck by Lightning en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Struck_by_Lightning_(TV_series)

Yes don't have any actors like them any more. They all made what ever movie's they were in very very good.

And had a brief but memorable part in ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’.
@@thomasvanetten1984He had brief but memorable roles in many movies.
I liked all of them, but especially Claude Akin and Royal Dano. Royal Dano always reminded me of my favorite uncle.
What a wonderful job it must have been to be a casting director in that era, drawing upon so many talented and dependable actors!

It is these actors that make the films worth watching.

And of course as Mac in the Matt Helm movies, and in classic Star Trek, "Dagger of the Mind".
Great subject. All of them are valid selections. A few more for your next list: Paul Fix, Dabbs Greer and Kevin Hagen.

Good list! I especially loved R G Armstrong and Jack Elam!
Chuck Connors was also in The Big Country, the mini series Roots, and an episode of Night Gallery--The Ring With the Red Velvet Ropes.
Jim Davis starred in the very successful series "Dallas," portraying Jacque Ewing, the Patriarch of the family.

Great video, I grew up in the 50s and 60s watching all these great actors. R G Armstrong was a very good friend of Andy Griffin.
Also an accomplished CW singer, Jim Davis wrote what's become an American classic (truly) --- "You Are My Sunshine".
Er, different Davis composed that great song. Jimmie Houston Davis, who became governor of Louisiana, composed that in 1939 with Charles Mitchell.
@@bravehome4276 I knew my grandmother had to be wrong about something! Ah well --- still a great song... Merry Xmas, 4276!
@@MegaJackpinesavageLikewise!
You could almost call this the "Actors who James Arness beat up on Gunsmoke." video;).
lol.. so true
Buck Cannon ( Cameron Mitchell) on The High Chaparral). He was the one who kept the ranch working.

Not a western but Morgan Freeman was also in two episodes of Star Trek.
