  • Bell's palsy is not an easy diagnosis. Those of you who just got it, and those who already have it for over 1, 5, 10 or even more years will attest to that. Bell's palsy is very hard. It is not only hard physiologically, but it is as equally hard emotionally. Only those who also lost their smile can understand that.
Which is why we wanted to share this video. We want to make sure that you remember that you are not alone on this journey, and that you do not have to pretend to be okay with it, just to make others around you more comfortable.
You need to put yourself first. And it does not matter if you just got facial palsy, or you have been going through it for many years, you need to make sure to prioritize your own wellbeing.
Unfortunately, we cannot help all of you, our clinic has limited resources and possibilities. So with this video, we want to help you to understand, that the best way to fight your fears, frustration and despair, is through the knowledge and understanding of what happened to you and your facial nerve, and why there is still hope for improvement, in most scenarios.

You are reassuring and a great teacher. What are your thoughts about acupuncture? cosmetic surgery? Is there a great probability of asymmetry after the surgery? How long should I wait before getting surgery? How can I find surgeons who specializes in B.P?

I can see that you also watched out video about surgical interventions. I hope it helped to clarify your question regarding surgery. When it comes to acupuncture, we are always very supportive of it, as it can help improve general tonus and promote facial relaxation. It can assist during acute stages and relieve tense muscles for some period of time. For long-term recovery at later stages (after 1 year or more of facial palsy), acupuncture's benefits are unclear.
