It’s funny you keep talking about how many cars were out there. In all honesty, those roads look incredibly quiet compared to what I’m used to here in California!
Quick £2 tip for getting tyres onto wheels. Buy some handy man gloves with a rubberised palm and fingers. The added grip makes putting on, even the toughest of tyres (looking at you WTB Riddlers 45c), a lot easier.

You have to grab one of those Kom cycling tubeless kits. I don't spill anything out when putting the liquid inside the tires. The syringe enters the valve cleanly so it's really really good.
@@gplama my Hero 8 crashes constantly so I have to pull that battery out whilst riding, GPS works less than 5% of the time, sometimes files corrupt and now it does a weird panning thing when I turn corners. I'd send it back but that seems to be an 'experience' in itself!
I can barely keep it working when using while skiing. GoPro batteries, or third party. The cold makes them unusable. Interesting to see the hero 10 enduro battery seems to make that much better. (Don’t have the 10 to try)
Rode the Festive 500 on mostly gravel last year, alas we have a snow storm inbound, glad I was able to get out on the solstice and make some vitamin D.
I absolutely love watching your videos, but watching you mount tubeless tires is painful!! :-) Ditch the soapy water thing...that's old school and unnecessary with the newer rim and tire designs. Especially, if you are mounting to Zipps. I have the new Zipp 404FC, Zipp 303FC, and Zipp 303s and they all take gravel and/or road tires without the blistering of the hands that I used to experience. Secondly, use the 2oz bottle as your dispenser into the valve or get the hose with the fitting to avoid all the spewing of fluid all over the sides of your wheels. The bottle valve fits perfectly and if you take your time a bit by starting the insertion while the valve is at around 5 o'clock and then rolling it to 6 o'clock while gently squeezing the bottle, you won't spill a drop. If there is even a drop of sealant on my rims when I'm done, I've been messy. Anyway, just a bit of friendly trolling. Again, love your vids and info!!! Happy Festive 500!
Yep, might depend on the brand but this is what I do with stans regular sealant, don't know if you can do this with race version. However I Shove it in at 12 o clock and then turn it to 5 o clock
Great vid Shane but I’m frustrated that nobody tests how easy or difficult it is to REMOVE tubeless tyres. Breaking the tyre bead of my 28mm Conti GP 5000 TL and Schwalbe Pro One on my Hunt Aerodynamicist road carbon rims is a nightmare and there are no tools to help. Reviewers only test how easy it is to install, not remove. Hope you can help in future reviews
There's a lot of variables at play when it comes to how easy a tyre is to get on/off. It's also a combinatorial nightmare with so many rim brands/types and tyre brands/types/widths. Removing a tubeless tyre that has just been installed will also be very different to one that has been on the rim for a while. It'll also depend on the sealant used, conditions the bike is in (dry/wet/hot/cold/humid/etc), etc.
@@gplama Thnx for reply Shane & agree with all your comments. My hope is that when a reviewer tests a tubeless tyre fit they go the whole way and try to take it off. I can easily mount the tyre using a std floor pump but cannot take them off in the field if I need to insert a tube. Hopefully tyre and rim suppliers will improve their ISO/ETRTO manufacturing tolerances to ensure a better 2 way fit
