I keep hearing people say you can find out your blood type though a simple test at the clinic or doctors office. That's just not the case in my experience. I've had my blood type tested 'twice' in 20 years by 'two' different doctors and 'both' told me, NO, they cannot type my blood at the office or clinic. Instead, they required me to let them draw blood and send it to a lab to get it typed. Then the results were sent back to the Doctor and I get a bill from the lab. So, were they just lying to me about not being able to prick my finger and have it tested right there in the office? If so, then what are the odds that two different Doctors would do that? And why would they do that anyway?
yes me too!!! they're making it more and more difficult to get your blood type. it's beyond frustrating and make me question why they don't want us to know our blood type
Maybe the blood labs and the Doctors offices have a secret pact that they will force people to have their blood sent to a lab to get their blood type tested so that you have to pay the lab more money and then the Doctors get kickbacks for sending more business to the labs. Wouldn't surprise me at all if that were the case. I know for a fact that doctors have been known to push new drugs by big Pharmaceutical companies in return for free samples and discounts on the drugs they buy from them. The "for profit" medical community has always been corrupt as hell anyway.
Most clinics do not run blood tests themselves. They do indeed send out the blood. That is simply how it works in the US. My primary care office does not have the machinery or the techs to run blood typing, so it is sent to a nearby lab that will run the test, provide the result back to your doctor who will share it with you. The lab (maybe LabCorp or Quest) will then charge you for the test and your doctor may or may not charge you for a blood draw. In comparison, a big hospital will have the equipment and techs to run this type of testing. I suppose when I say simple, what I mean by that is any doctor can order it (it's not a specialty test), it can be processed by many labs in all states, and only takes a couple of days for results to come back. This is as opposed to a more challenging test like a genetic test, where only a specialist may be willing to order it, it could cost thousands of dollars, and only a few labs in the country may be able to run it, and it could take weeks or months to come back. Thanks for your question!
Thank you for your video Dr Lee. I am wondering if you could help me with a question? I just had a miscarriage yesterday and the Dr checked my blood and said I am Rh sensitized due to a previous miscarriage a few years ago. I didn't know about the Rhogam shot back then and so I never took it. The Dr said this Rh sensitization is the most likely reason why I lost the current pregnancy, and the hospital gave me the Rhogam shot yesterday. They were in a rush so I didn't get a chance to ask any questions. Since I am already Rh sensitized, will this cause risks to future pregnancies even after taking the Rhogam shot this time? Does the effect wear off and should I keep getting the shot every few months while I am trying to conceive? It seems like most people wait until the second trimester to get the shot but in my case since I'm already sensitized I am worried this will keep causing me to miscarry early in pregnancy. Thanks for your advice!
I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope she replies to some of these questions. Your inquiry is a very good question & I would be concerned too. If your OB can advise on this would you please comment the findings here for other ladies who are asking this same question? Blessings and I am deeply sorry about your loss. God has our babies in heaven. I pray you will name your baby & stay expecting to see that sweet baby again.
Hello, thank you so much for making this video. It is very helpful for an rh- women ttc. I do have a question that has been on my mind. What other ways can a women develop rh antibodies (excluding blood transfusions, prior pregnancies). My mom is rh+ and when I was born, I swallowed fluids during delivery. Could that cause me to be rh sensitized from birth? Thank you for your time.
My dad passed away in 2006 . I dont remember what blood type he was but my mom is AB BLOOD TYPE. I don't remember if she's positive or negative but my question is a wondering what my dad's blood type could have bend.
Hello Ma'am, is it safe for RH negative mothers to Deliver babies normally (Vaginally) or C-section would be more safer step? Will there be any complications during labor or child birth if the mother has taken all Rhogam shots previously
It is absolutely safe for Rh- mothers to deliver vaginally unless there are other contraindications. I am Rh- negative and have delivered my two living babies vaginally without complication. I was provided a Rhogam shot to prevent complications in future pregnancies. I would definitely share any concerns you have with your own doctor, but can tell you that millions of Rh- women deliver vaginally without complication every year.
I don’t know what my blood type is by my state I’d say my blood type is Rh and I was wondering did they put that because I didn’t put my what my blood is or was it on one of my papers
My daughter in law just had a spontaneous abortion. This is the second one in the last year. This time she actually went to the hospital and was told she’s RH neg. They gave her a rhogam shot even though she was in the process of losing the baby. She was only about 3 1/2 weeks pregnant. Same for the last time she had a spontaneous abortion. They told her the shot is good for 6 months but they were very, very vague about what that means. Actually they were very vague about a lot of things. My question is, will that rhogam shot decrease her chances of yet another sa if she gets pregnant again in the next 6 months? I have 4 kids so I’m not certain my son she’s married to has B pos blood but I’m 99% sure he is. Thanks for any advice or answer
If she's had a pregnancy and lost it it may mean that blood from a possibly positive fetus may have gotten into her blood stream and her body may have developed antibodies which would attack the RH factors present which then would attack any that enter the body afterwards as in a rh positive baby. The rhogam shot surpresses this immune response to protect the baby. This is also answering a question I've had. I got pregnant last year but also lost it. The person an I broke up, but when we broke up he said we were not "compatible" and I just took that as ok cool were not compatible on a relationship basis...it wasn't until later I realized he is O+ and I am O-. I thought our relationship was actually not that bad because opposites can attract and he's an introvert and I'm an extrovert. The miscarriage really took a toll on me tho and I'm 43 so I've really counted myself out of the procreation pool 😆 Atleast now I suppose when dating, asking what blood type the potential partner is would be a quite valid question to ask 🤔 just never thought about it 😆 they may think I'm a vampire or something 😆

And if getting the shots at routine times does that pretty such prevent hemolytic disease in the newborn?
It's the difference in sensitivities of the lab testing. I test B neg at one hospital lab; B positive at a different hospital so I took rhogam to be safe. I am pregnant again and was told I'm B neg again- both my parents are positive blood types... it gets really complicated with blood testing when you research. As a nurse practitioner, I get lost in it even. With a black box warning on rhogam shots now, I will not be receiving this time around. I believe it is getting overprescribed due to the lack of further testing and recognizing whether or not some patients truly need it

Rhogam's website recommends injections at the following times: If the father or baby is not conclusively shown to be Rh-negative, RhoGAM should be given to a Rh-negative mother in the following clinical situations to prevent Rh immunization: After delivery of an Rh-positive baby Routine prevention of Rh immunization at 26 to 28 weeks of pregnancy Maternal or fetal bleeding during pregnancy from certain conditions Actual or threatened pregnancy loss at any stage. MICRhoGAM should be used in Rh-negative women who experience pregnancy loss at or up to 12 weeks of pregnancy Ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy in which the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus)
I’m RH Negative and didn’t receive the RhoGAM shot after my first pregnancy. I recently just had a miscarriage with my second pregnancy. @@meganweller2657 if your body has already developed Anti D antibodies then Rhogam will not be helpful. I would not assume you have developed antibodies without an antibody test.

I had a pregnancy in 1979 and after amniocentesis I was told I needed a Rhogam shot. However, years later when I asked to see my blood type I saw that I am O positive and my daughter is O positive. How can this be?
That is interesting. I have only been in practice as a genetic counselor since 2015, so I don't know the exact details of Rhogam policies and procedures in the late seventies. My guess would be that they gave it as a precaution not yet knowing your blood type or maybe they swapped your results with someone else's results on accident. The good news is Rhogam has minimal side effects.
Does the Rhogam change your blood Rh Type? I was told to get the shot when I married back in 1983, but I forgot. When I had my daughter 2 yrs later, they wouldn't let me leave the hospital till I got the injection, which I did. My records (since the birth of my child) show I am an O+, my daughter says she's A+. I have no clue what my husband is...and he never gets sick or goes to the doctor, so who knows what record there is of his blood type. For them to insist on me getting the Rhogam, wouldn't I have been O- previous?
Hey Bonnie! That is strange. No Rhogam does not alter your Rh status. I am not sure why they would have recommended if you are O+! Given it was a while back, I am guessing we may never know! I wonder if someone who was practicing in the eighties would have any insight into Rhogam recommendations at that time. Thanks for watching!
Hey Jasmine. Thanks for your question. In the US, pregnant people who are Rh- and who who conceive with an Rh+ or Rh status unknown sperm source will get RhoGam shots during pregnancy which will essentially eliminate the risk for problems in the future pregnancies/babies. If a woman doesn't get RhoGam, risks for future pregnancies would be anemia and jaundice. Anemia can cause too little oxygen to be delivered to the baby. This can be treated with blood transfusion. Be sure to talk to your doctor if you have concerns about your rh type because this is a very avoidable complication in almost all cases.
If both the egg source/carrier of pregnancy and sperm source are O+ there would be no need for Rhogam. Be sure to ask your doctor all of your questions!

I have not had this issue with my previous 3 pregnancies … no RH+ was found in those past pregnancies. How effect are the shots in preventing serious complications? If RH+ was found in my blood does that mean my baby has RH+?
The rh negative are a rare breed for a reason, I believe the rhogram changes the genetics and weakens the genes. Research the rh negative deeply its important guys. Its deeper than you think muchuch deeper, don't just trust doctors, use your heart and mind to investigate
I guess not..as i remember in college when we multiply type o from type the result is always o..type o has small a multiply them to another a the result is still a..so always o
Not possible because type O blood types only have O alleles to pass on to children. Two O alleles each. Type O parents can only have type O children between them.
I don't think does, I'd like to dig deeper into that but just for the simple fact that they need to give you the shot if you want to have another baby. Saying it stays in the body for a year.
I've just had my second miscarriage this year and im rh- and they won't give me the shot as i was under 12 weeks. I really feel i should have been given the shot.
You should have I was given it any spotting in first trimester you need it then too if you don’t get it with any spotting u risk miscarriage that’s what happened to me
Hi Ryzza- I am so sorry for your losses. There are many different factors that can cause a miscarriage. Most people who have two losses will go on to have a healthy ongoing pregnancy. I would definitely suggest that you talk to your OB/GYN about your losses and whether they recommend any testing to see if a cause of your losses can be identified. It is very unlikely that bloodtype has anything to do with miscarriages. Different factors are likely at play.
This is very common among couples and should not at all affect your chances of conceiving a pregnancy. As long as your OB is aware they should be able to guide you and offer RhoGam as needed. Be sure to inform your doctor. Wishing you luck conceiving.
I am Rh- and hubby is Rh+, would I need to get the vaccine as soon as I find out I’m pregnant? I had one child but that was 10 years ago, I got the shot during and after with my first. Just curious. Thanks 😊
These are great questions to ask your doctor. Generally, your doctor will confirm your blood type at one of your early prenatal appointments and administer rhogam as needed depending on how the pregnancy is going.

Don't trust the drs miss, they are paid by big pharma mafia made by the Rockeffelers, the black nobility bloodlines and secret societies are involved into tracking rare blood genetics like the rh negative.. They are Targeted individuals for a reason, Research this, and I suggest not taking anything, anything foreign at all in your body that is made by them. There is evil in this world that tries to hold down angelic human genetics for their own purposes.. To dumb down the masses and not let the power of the rh negative to be present and achieved, resesrch rh negative and psychic abilities, also the work of Dr Robert Sepehr, an excellent anthropologist. Also Dan winters.
You would need to Rogan shot and they would test the childs blood to see if its positive and closely monitor you. But first what blood type is your first child? If its negative you should have nothing to worry about if positive your body would had made anti bodies for future pregnancies. They wpuld closely monitor the baby..
You mentioned your husband's ABO blood type is O. Just curious, which letter are you, A, B or O? But to your question, if you are Rh+ then yes, according to what she said, your are safe to have a baby. 👶
Of course., just because both parents are Rh+ blood types doesn't mean they don't each carry an Rh- allele that could be combined to make an Rh- baby..
Rh factor is an inherited protein found on the surface of blood cells. If your blood has the protein, you're Rh positive. A simple blood test can determine your status and your partner's status. I would meet with an OB/GYN to discuss this and request testing.
Blood type does not affect ability to conceive a pregnancy. There are many other factors that can have an effect on fertility. If you and your partner are having trouble conceiving I would suggest a discussion with your OB/GYN. Wishing you the best.
O+ dad B-. All of my pregnancies produced babies with jaundice. A couple of miscarriages. Some positive, some negative. Fun fact making a B+? Poor guy. Okay after a few days under ultraviolet light source. A positive mom carrying a negative baby?
We don't know everything..they just figure this out 50- 60 years ago..I'm sure there are still a lot of mysteries out there. I've had multiple miscarriages. My daughter's are both negative I am negative..my husband positive. No one seems to know why. Always there hearts stop beating. Traumatic
There are many, many different causes for miscarriage. If you had the RhoGam shot following your previous pregnancy/ies it is very unlikely you would have any complications related to Rh type in future pregnancies. I would definitely encourage you to discuss your concerns with your OB.
How can you not link miscarriages to this? A negative and a positive couldn’t work. The baby would never thrive. You could only carry your blood type if that were the case. This seems like common sense to me.
It may seem like common sense to you, but it just isn't the case. There are millions of people alive and well today who have a parent with a negative type and the other parent with a positive type. They are indeed compatible, and we see evidence of it every single day.

I was wondering thus exact same thing actually.
The miscarriage really took a toll on me tho and I'm 43 so I've really counted myself out of the procreation pool 😆
Atleast now I suppose when dating, asking what blood type the potential partner is would be a quite valid question to ask 🤔 just never thought about it 😆 they may think I'm a vampire or something 😆
Is she pregnant?
@@unknownman1035 not now…or not that I’m aware of. I think next time they won’t tell me until she’s further along and the danger of a spontaneous abortion has passed.
Yah, best advice for her... Is to find a partner, with RH NEG blood, and have a natural birth. Like us humans, have been doing for thousands of years.
@@kelliesharpe1067 A woman with RH NEG blood, isn't supposed to have a child with POS blood. Since this drug has came out, autism has rose. I've known uh few people with autistic children, ether them, or their parents, DELETED RH NEG blood, out of their blood line... This is an unnatural thing, that's NEVER supposed to happen! Bring an unborn life, into the realm of living, isn't a good thing.
hello, where can i take the rhogam shot? do i need a ginecologist prescription? do they ask for indirect coombs and blood type right before the shot?
????
Thank u so much ma, ma am B- that is RH-negative pls do I require any specific supplement and vitamins to get pregnant .pls ma I really need an answer to this question 🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰
No pls am also B-
My doctor never asked me about my finances blood type. I was 5 weeks when I found out I was pregnant & no one told me to get the shot. At 7 weeks I started having a miscarriage & that’s when my doctor told me to go to the ER to get the rhogram shot. So I’m suppose to get the shot as soon as I find out I’m pregnant!?
My only question: Rh+ mother/Rh- father…same deal? (I assume the antibodies develop in reverse as well)
I just found out today I’m RH Negative. I’m nervous for pregnancy now
I am O- and my husband A+ and there is no pregnancy for last 5 years. Why?
Great explanation. Is it possible for a mother to
have a positive Rh factor and a fetus to have a negative Rh factor? Why
Yes if the father is negative. My mom was positive and my dad negative and I am also negative
My partner is positive and I am negative, we will struggle to fall pregnant?
What happens in the case of an abortion? Do Rh negative women need to take the shot?
My friend had an abortion and she is Rh - .... she had to pay extra for the RhoGam shot.
I just found out I’m RH negative, this is my second pregnancy, for my first I tested RH positive, my doctor didn’t have an answer on why I’m negative now.. but my concern is since I didn’t get the rogam shot after my first pregnancy does that put my baby at a higher rate of developing anemia? And if getting the shots at routine times does that pretty such prevent hemolytic disease in the newborn?
It's the difference in sensitivities of the lab testing. I test B neg at one hospital lab; B positive at a different hospital so I took rhogam to be safe. I am pregnant again and was told I'm B neg again- both my parents are positive blood types... it gets really complicated with blood testing when you research. As a nurse practitioner, I get lost in it even. With a black box warning on rhogam shots now, I will not be receiving this time around. I believe it is getting overprescribed due to the lack of further testing and recognizing whether or not some patients truly need it
Hello maa am Cate during my first pregnancy I was told am of blood group O positive ,when I got pregnant for my second born am told am O negative I have to do another test in a different hospital....am tensed now that I don't know my fate with this second pregnancy having in mind that i wasn't given any shot after my first delivery....
What's ur update now?
Thank you very much for sharing, I'm O- and my partner is B+, we have our first baby already. We had no idea about HR and so I took no injection after birth. After listening to the explanation in this video, what can I do, before having another baby?
Depends on the first baby blood type. If your baby is negative blood like you then it will be fine.
Hi,
Iam B Negative, my husband is B Positive. My first born is B Negative. If i plan for second baby, will i have any complications?
Thank you
It's logical, no.. Because the baby is already healthy, why would you take the rhogram shot if your firstborn is healthy...? Makes no sense right.
Hi... how do I know if I developed the sensitivity if I had broken ectopic pregnancy? I'm Rh- my husband if A+ we are going to start the process with Ivf
Hi Dr. thank you for such information but I could like to know whether a O- male can impregnate any blood type?
Thanks, I'm A- too and it seemed as if I received five Rhogam shots for my second and last pregnancy. I guess they just wanted to be super cautious?
Thanks for watching Connie! Did you or the baby have any bleeding issues? You could always message your healthcare provider to ask for more info. That is more injections that I have received in any pregnancy. I received Rhogam after/during miscarriages and for my ongoing pregnancies at 28 weeks and again at deliver. Rhogam's website recommends injections at the following times:
If the father or baby is not conclusively shown to be Rh-negative, RhoGAM should be given to a Rh-negative mother in the following clinical situations to prevent Rh immunization:
After delivery of an Rh-positive baby
Routine prevention of Rh immunization at 26 to 28 weeks of pregnancy
Maternal or fetal bleeding during pregnancy from certain conditions
Actual or threatened pregnancy loss at any stage. MICRhoGAM should be used in Rh-negative women who experience pregnancy loss at or up to 12 weeks of pregnancy
Ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy in which the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus)
I’m RH Negative and didn’t receive the RhoGAM shot after my first pregnancy. I recently just had a miscarriage with my second pregnancy. My question is, if my body has already developed the antibodies from not getting the shot after having my first baby, does that mean the RHOgam shot won’t be effective for future pregnancies? Is it only effective if you received the shot after the first pregnancy and your body never had the chance to create the antibodies?
@@meganweller2657 if your body has already developed Anti D antibodies then Rhogam will not be helpful. I would not assume you have developed antibodies without an antibody test.
Hello Ma‘am I really need your advice. I gave a birth 5 month ago and my baby girl was born with -AB but doctors don't applied to Rhgam shot ( in area medical services are terrible). My partner has a positive rh. Is it OK if injected now cause I'm really worrying about my future pregnancy 😢?
So can couples with O- and A+ ever ever have kids? I miscarried last August 2023 and they told me it was my blood type that made me miscarry... I have been trying to get pregnant since.. and again reoccurring miscarriages.. i got the Rhogam shot when I noticed I was spotting before the miscarriage but it did not work... i still miscarried.. also was given progesterone... so like should I just not worry about kids and move on? I have had 10 miscarriages chemical and at 6 weeks..
My daughter has Rh Negative but her parents are both Rh Positive. How is this possible? Her father is Type O Positive and her mother is B Positive. She had to take the shots for both of her children.
Each parent has a recessive rh- gene
Parents are carriers for rh negative gene.
Any other rh negative moms not experiencing morning sickness?
Im Rh - and experienced little or no morning sickness with both of my children. My problem was the iron in the prenatal vitamins made me nauseous !
What about breast feeding????

I have a question am A+ my wife is Ab- we had a kid last year my wife mom said if she get pregnant again she'll die I just wonder if that's true or not if you can please help me out
You wife would have been given a rogham injection after birth of your first child to stop her immune system attacking the next baby. If she had the shot they will be okay. You can ask for her medical history or speak to your doctor of you're worried

Hi, I'm O+ and my partner is B- is it still possible for us to have a child? Do I also need vaccines to be pregnant?
Yes, no
You have a 50% chance of having an Rh + baby. Vaccines ? Where's your immunization records? Your mom should know!
I am O Rh- my partner is B Rh+...what should I do?
I had a pregnancy in 1979 and after amniocentesis I was told I needed a Rhogam shot.
However, years later when I asked to see my blood type I saw that I am O positive and my daughter is O positive. How can this be?
That is interesting. I have only been in practice as a genetic counselor since 2015, so I don't know the exact details of Rhogam policies and procedures in the late seventies. My guess would be that they gave it as a precaution not yet knowing your blood type or maybe they swapped your results with someone else's results on accident. The good news is Rhogam has minimal side effects.
Hey there what if am Rhesus positive and my fiancée/ sperm source is rhesus negative
She said 50% chance the baby will be Rh +
My girlfriend is O - and I’m B+ and she just had a baby with no RH shot the whole time? She had to have the shot with her 3 other children?
Is this possible ?
They tried to give it to my positive wife, positive baby positive me at major credited health institution. Whats going in here…..?
You could have weak rh factor? I’m not sure but that’s a great question.
@@katieleecgctalksmiscarriage.....well l certainly hope so! I had my son in 1987, and l received the RhoGam shot so somebody had to know something !
Please respond 💗 I am O positive and my husband is O negative so what blood type should my baby be ??
O+
Depends if the father is a carrier of rh factor. If he’s a carrier, 50% O+, 50% O-. If he’s not a carrier than only O+
O+
What’s the risk of the baby is rh negative like disabilities?
What about if we are both O/RH+ how will that affect the baby
If both the egg source/carrier of pregnancy and sperm source are O+ there would be no need for Rhogam. Be sure to ask your doctor all of your questions!
It is 0 (zero) and no O (letter): absence!
Hi, I am currently 5 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby. My recent blood work identified RH+ in my blood. I am RH- myself and I am not sure about my husband. Should I be worried? I have not had this issue with my previous 3 pregnancies … no RH+ was found in those past pregnancies.
How effect are the shots in preventing serious complications?
If RH+ was found in my blood does that mean my baby has RH+?
The shot works
Did you get the shot?
Resesrch deeper before making a desicion cause genetics are sacred. Don't trust the drs so much, the medical big pharma has an agenda...

Hi, is it possible for both O+ parents to have a B+ child then? I heard it's possible but I don't know whether it's true or not. Thank you!
I guess not..as i remember in college when we multiply type o from type the result is always o..type o has small a multiply them to another a the result is still a..so always o
Not possible because type O blood types only have O alleles to pass on to children. Two O alleles each. Type O parents can only have type O children between them.
Does rhogam alter the dna of the rh negative mother?
I don't think does, I'd like to dig deeper into that but just for the simple fact that they need to give you the shot if you want to have another baby. Saying it stays in the body for a year.
I've just had my second miscarriage this year and im rh- and they won't give me the shot as i was under 12 weeks. I really feel i should have been given the shot.
Im RH- A- and every girl Ive gotten pregnant has miscarried. If you really want a baby, Im 6'1" green eyes, very handsome and 100% european

How about the D antigen
D antigen is rh factor.
I have 2 miscarriage Ma'am I'm B-Rh positive is it possible to have a baby? Thank you for the answer ❤

These are great questions to ask your doctor. Generally, your doctor will confirm your blood type at one of your early prenatal appointments and administer rhogam as needed depending on how the pregnancy is going.

I agree with Moon Beam! Even if both parents are Rh+, there is a chance they could have a biologic Rh- child.
What do A RH positive mean?
My husband is from African and I need to know if we are compatible to have children?
Rh factor is an inherited protein found on the surface of blood cells. If your blood has the protein, you're Rh positive. A simple blood test can determine your status and your partner's status. I would meet with an OB/GYN to discuss this and request testing.
I heard RH- women can’t have male babies. Is that true?
Absolutely not lol
No! I have a son and l am Rh - ..... absurd
I AM O+ MY HUSBAND B+ CAN WE GET PREGNENT?
Blood type does not affect ability to conceive a pregnancy. There are many other factors that can have an effect on fertility. If you and your partner are having trouble conceiving I would suggest a discussion with your OB/GYN. Wishing you the best.
I am having Rh- and my wife is Rh+. Are there any complications..
If your wife if Rh+ then there is not a risk for adverse outcomes due to Rh type!
What if you had a miscarriage at first ? Does that count as if you had given birth to your first baby?

Is it possible to have a miscarriage with your second pregnancy even if you got the shot after delivering your first child?
