Is Legacy at Home Semen Analysis Worth It? Husband's Results Revealed
Today we are taking a look at my husband's semen analysis results from Legacy, an at-home semen analysis and storage company. As we consider expanding our family, we wanted to understand the current state of his fertility, especially since it's been over four years since his last test. We were particularly interested in Legacy's DNA fragmentation test, which isn't typically included in standard semen analyses but could offer valuable insights given our history of recurrent miscarriages.
I'll walk you through the various parameters measured in the semen analysis, including total motile count, sperm concentration, motility, morphology, and DNA fragmentation. We also discuss our experience with Legacy's convenient at-home testing process-from shipping the sample to receiving the results in just four days-and the additional services they offer, like sperm freezing and expert consultations.
If you're trying to conceive, curious about your fertility, or considering freezing sperm before medical treatments, this video might provide the insights you need.

I'm so sorry to hear about your recent transfer and blighted ovum especially after an IVF cycle and euploid transfer. Research shows that transfer of a euploid embryo does reduce the risk for miscarriage, including blighted ovums, but unfortunately it doesn't eliminate the risk for miscarriages. Studies show that even after a euploid embryo transfer, there might be about an 8% chance of a pregnancy loss. Pregnancy losses can have causes beyond chromosome issues. I'm wishing you the best as you recover and gear up for the next steps in your treatment

First pregnancy, we did the nip test which turned out normal, but I miscarried this pregnancy at 8 weeks. I have done D and C and the histopath showed that my miscarriage is caused by chromosomal abnormality XO which is by the way not seen in the nip test (turner’s syndrome) the good news is I became pregnant again after 3 months, I and my husband decided not to do nip test anymore (cost 500aud) we thought, it doesn’t anyway detect all the chromosomal abnormalities anyway. So far I am now 35 weeks pregnant with our baby boy..

Please I encourage everyone to just wait. At 6 weeks there was no embryo which was concerning. Doctors told me I had ambreyonic pregnancy (blighted ovum) and told me to do a D&C procedure. I came across a comment on a UA-cam video where a woman stated that doctors told her she had the same thing but she had waited till 7 weeks. So I decided to wait out of curiosity just based of that comment. A few days later. I went to a different hospital (professionals) just to make sure it was certain that there was still no embryo… i was ready to take the next step. The Gynae gave me the biggest shock of my life. My baby was right there , healthy with a heart beat. I never would have imagined. I almost took the doctors advice and his word for it. He convinced me that i was having a miscarriage and booked for a D&C procedure to be performed the next day. Today I’m almost 10 weeks. I trusted my instincts and waited. If I hadn’t of waited I don’t know how I would have felt …if I didn’t wait. So please I would advice any woman to wait 7-8 weeks for another scan if no embryo shows up during early stages. Wish you all the best ❤️❤️🙏🏾

This doctor and I went back and fourth. Very unprofessional. We had a little altercation 😂 he said I’m wasting his time and walked out of the office. It seems he was irritated because bold him that I preferred to wait and he told me there was no need to wait. He felt that he knew better of course. He didn’t give me any options. He was certainly wrong for that. I’m glad I waited. I was 6 weeks at the time he diagnosed me, there was more reasons why I didn’t feel comfortable to continue with the d&c procedure which I can’t mention here. This pregnancy was unplanned and my relationship is very toxic. (Toxic ex) So i had already been stressed. But please don’t give up at 6 weeks. I never imagined I’d see my baby on the ultrasound monitor with a healthy heart beat. I’m still shocked today. I did 4 scans with the same results of no embryo. I chose to wait and boom! My baby said “supriseee!” 😅 I was suprised indeed. Ooo I would advice getting a transvaginal scan aswell if your in early stages of pregnancy. That really helped. Best wishes queens ❤👑

There are companies that test fetal rhesus testing. Billion to One, Unity does and they have mobile phlebotomy draws they can coordinate. It cost about $200-300 and includes the additional genetic testing Some doctors may not accept the results … but it can give additional information for you as the patient to make more informed decisions Has it due to bleeding from a SCH at 12 weeks. Then had the testing done AFTER showing I was sensitized but they believe it was due to having had the Rhogham. But studies have shown where women got the Rhogham had positives, and actually ended up being sensitized. Due for the shot again, but they will be retesting to see if the results are negative/same/or went up. I can get the shot or wait for results to come back and show I did not get sensitized.

Hi there, I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. Most people who have a single miscarriage go on to have a healthy pregnancy and delivery next time, so the odds are in your favor, but of course nobody can predict the future and there are some people, like me, who have multiple losses in a row with no explanation. It's shocking, jarring, heartbreaking and yet it is common. My heart is with you as you find your footing and grieve this loss.

  • @annamacdougle

Going through this now… I was supposed to be about 12 weeks and found out last week baby didn’t grow past 6 or so weeks. I really feel strongly that no matter what the medical community wants to push we don’t call a miscarriage an abortion. They are two different things. An abortion is caused by consuming abortion pill(s) or surgically unaliving and removing a baby by choice or coercion. A miscarriage is not a choice and is a natural process that leads to the death of a baby.

    • @katieleecgctalksmiscarriage

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through a loss now. I hope that most providers would follow a patient's lead and use their language. The reason I discussed in my video is because it can be jarring to see abortion all over your medical records or in discussion with providers who may not use the more generally accepted language.

Started having miscarriage nightmares when I was 5.5 weeks. Very mild symptoms, but haven't once felt pregnant yet (7 pregnancies in 8 years, 3 children) and with all my others I had extreme hyperemesis, lost about 1/3rd of my weight. Have an internal scan Wednesday so we can find out if I'm right but I feel like I've known for weeks this baby is gone. I did with my past losses. And I know before the tests when I'm pregnant. Very strong body intuition. Doing all my studying now so I can help partner later and know my options with processing time without slowing down treatment.

I’m RH Negative and didn’t receive the RhoGAM shot after my first pregnancy. I recently just had a miscarriage with my second pregnancy. My question is, if my body has already developed the antibodies from not getting the shot after having my first baby, does that mean the RHOgam shot won’t be effective for future pregnancies? Is it only effective if you received the shot after the first pregnancy and your body never had the chance to create the antibodies?

    • @katieleecgctalksmiscarriage
      @katieleecgctalksmiscarriage 2 місяці тому

NIPT uses a similar technology to PGT-A and is also primarily looking for chromosome aneuploidies and sex chromosome differences. Some NIPT labs can detect genetic differences that are not identifiable on PGT-A. For me, because NIPT was covered by my insurance and the results of it may impact next steps for my pregnancy, would utilize it even if I did PGT-A as a secondary screen. But it's not for everyone!

I am 45 and had never been pregnant but in December of last year I found out that I was pregnant. Sadly I had a missed miscarriage and lost the baby on Easter night. The baby stopped growing at 6 weeks and 6 days but I didn’t find out until I was 14 weeks that I was actually having a miscarriage but my body hadn’t released the baby. It was heartbreaking waking up the next morning knowing that I would soon lose the baby which didn’t happen until a few days later. Yes you may be getting older but have faith that your age is not the end all. I thought at 39 that it was over for me once I turned 40 but God said He has the last say. It will happen for us again.

Are we sure that Euploid means 46 cromosomas? I have heard cases of Ebrios called Euploids and the embrio has triploydi. Why is people not clear with the language??

You are correct, I am simplifying things when I say that euploid means 46 chromosomes. When we see a euploid result that means there are likely 46 chromosomes in the biopsy sample. But there are limitations of PGTA, one of which is that triploidy or haploidy may not be detected. This is going to depend on the methods and limitations of the lab you use for PGTA. I would check the methods and limitation sections and check with your clinical team or the PGTA lab for details on your testing and limitations regarding detecting polyploidy. This video is a general overview of PGT-A. A video on specific limitations like detection of polyploidy/haploidy is a great idea.

Was this through IVF or natural pregnancy? I’ve had 4 back to back losses, no cause found at all. Wondering if IVF should be the next step for me or if there’s still hope naturally.

She was naturally conceived. Based on the research, for patients ~under 35 who do not have a known chromosome change in the egg or sperm source and have tested their pregnancy losses and the losses/miscarriages have been chromosomally normal, there is not really evidence that IVF with PGTA will help. Now someone who is having difficulty getting pregnant or has some known risk factors for miscarriage that are treatable for IVF (such as advanced maternal age, a chromosome difference, etc), IVF might help!

How are embryos actually tested? Is it a human reviewing or machine?
