Hope you’re having a great summer. Thanks for all your Patient teaching. I’m going to try to work harder on your stuff. Hope your shoulder gets better. I have the same thing and it takes time.
Love it when you go into your professional mode and sing. You teach us without any intimidation only gentle encouragement and a great smile, keep it up.
Beautiful rendition of a song the great woodie Guthrey covered . Thank god for teachers like you ❤️ your lessons are greatly appreciated. Best channel on UA-cam 👍
I start physical therapy for my shoulder on Monday. I feel your pain!! I love to play my banjo slowly to just enjoy how wonderfully musical it is. Thanks for all you do here on UA-cam. Be well.
I don’t play clawhammer 5-string banjo. I play jazz on a 17-fret open back tenor banjo, but I find your content interesting, entertaining, educational, and fun. Thank you so much.
Beautiful! I thought I knew most all the hobo songs, but I'm not sure I have ever heard this song. Thanks for this lesson. Thanks again from Tennessee.
I love your lessons. Just picked the banjo (frailing). I am 69 and hope I still can learn it before the virus get to me. Situation here in Brazil is really terrible. Worse than ever. I lived in the USA for 24 years, my daughter lives in Miami. I might never see her again. Only God knows. But we will meet again, sometime, somewhere ... Thank you very much for our lessons. You are lovely, great teaching! Be safe!
You're welcome - glad you're enjoying the lessons. The situation in Brazil sounds horrific and thoughts are with everyone there. Please stay as safe as you can!
Ola da USA minha amigo. Eu American eu trabalhar com Brazilians em minha companhia.. eu falar pequino Portuguese. Bom Dia meu amigo :) I hope you are still with us and still learning. The Brazilians I know are from Mina Gerais. Adeus!
Lovely little song for a quiet evening. I got drawn to this again this evening! Looking forward to the next video, I think as summer is a coming and we just might be allowed out of the house, we need some campfire sing song songs 😁 because who doesn’t like a banjo sing song round a campfire? My kids love them but seriously if I have to bring one more thing “round the mountains when she comes” I’m going to hurt somebody! 😂😂😂🪕🪕
This is beautiful, I just love it! Thank you so much. I'm really sorry about your shoulder. Your lessons have helped me more than anything else I have seen on utube, you really have a gift for teaching. I've been frailing so much my picking fingernail has worn down to a nub, lol!
i love your video, a pleasur to learn with you ! i strugle to understand if the beat is on the strum or the pluck but im sure it will come with practice
That’s really good picking young lady and you sing very well. Also, that’s a hard thing to do is play a Musical instrument and staying at the same time. That’s very good. Keep up the good work I’m enjoying your channel.
You are right! I have been focusing too much on going fast. The slow and contemplative also goes soooo well with my new banjo, btw, I just picked up a short neck maple beauty from Pisgah Banjos. Thanks for the great content, Jen. How'd a Brit Lass like yrself get into all this Southern Appalachian stuff? Cheers from Western North Carolina
Hi Jen, just discovered your vids, don't play banjo but always love the sound, and the tunes played on them mostly old timey, you , have played a few of my favourites, like your fresh and friendly way of teaching, you mention that you dance as well as play, would that be Apperlacian buckdance, thats how I got interested in the sound of the banjo,if so whats your favourite tune to dance too. kind regards Dave
If you look up Feet First Appalachian dance team on here there are quite a lot of videos - that's the team I learned with so there are a few old vids of me dancing. Loads of cool tunes! Nowadays I just play banjo for them, but I still do a tiny bit of stepping as part of my Banjo Jen live set (see my original 'Mill Song' video on my other channel :)
This is great. Any chance you can do some Irish songs like 'The Wild Rover', 'Whiskey in the Jar' and 'The Black Velvet Band'? I have the strum but I have difficulty in hitting the melody notes.
Hoping to do a 3/4 time tutorial soon which might help with Wild Rover. I don't really play an Irish tunes - maybe look up Dan Walsh, I think he does some Irish ones, he's ace :)
Banjo is cool ,a lot of people just don’t know it yet coz they haven’t tried. I’m knew to you,but haven’t subbed.yeah I’m a twat. I’m on cripple creek still. Stray1 the type of man not to challenge Ferguson yet beat fury.
I'm a disabled Vet. from Seattle, I'm also a bit of a lost one. I like your tutorials.
Hope you’re having a great summer. Thanks for all your Patient teaching. I’m going to try to work harder on your stuff. Hope your shoulder gets better. I have the same thing and it takes time.

Love you, your beautiful picking and voice Jen, thank you ma'am and God bless you 🎅🤠🙏
I've always felt that if a tune doesn't sound good slow as well as fast it's not much of a tune. A very nice song. Well done.
Thank you! So SO much, you are one of the only women I was able to find teaching a banjo lesson online! thank you to your sweet kind self! Cheers!

I just recently discovered this simple, but fun song. So many ways you can play it. I like playing it Dm G7 in the last bar instead of the F to G.
beautiful
Thanks. Very nice.
You are awesome

Hi Jen. Great stuff as usual. Any chance you could teach Ashoken Farewell? A beautiful lilting and slow melody I’m sure you would agree
That's the kind of banjo pikkin I love. Not the horse race style.
Thank You for sharing all your helpful videos Banjo Jen!! Can you share one of Shady Grove for a beginner??
Got a few bits lined up for when I have time - I hope to do Shady Grove soon :)
