Thanks for sharing your experience brother! A great video, with fantastic lessons. Thanks for the shoutout, and I must say thank YOU for being one of the great folks welcoming me into the banjo community. Finding a community, AND not getting stuck into a specific style are great advice not to only to beginners, but folks of all stages of learning. Wonderful video!
Thank you for not trying to shove a specific product down our throats. Thank you for your open honesty and genuine opinions on this topic. I’ve been looking at banjos for a couple of months now and have been wanting to pull the trigger, this has been a lot of help!
Excellent post & advice…thanks! Finding & immersing yourself in available local & regional musical settings is so valuable to one’s growth, along w/ support from family & friends
I seriously second playing at memory care facilities and old folks’ homes. The staff definitely love it and the old folks are always so happy and thankful to hear some live music.
Fantastic video--this is something all new banjo players should see. Friend, you just created a true gem that will help folks for years. This is the internet at its best.
Great video. I’ve been playing for a year and a half and I have been guilty of isolating! I always say I will jam with others when I’m good enough! lol I know now that day will never come unless I bite the bullet and just do it. Jamming with others will build confidence, help your timing and help you develop tons of knowledge. Keep the videos coming!
That is a beautiful banjo :) I started playing in 1971 after buying one for my brother and one for my girl friend ... Square dances got my playing in many tunings ... C to D or G to A and Sawmill g sus4 Anyway 53 years of joy mostly clawhammer ..
I've only been playing the banjo for 11 months and the one time I tried to join a community, they we're dicks. Since then I've just been as you say isolated. I love the banjo and want to progress but I find myself plateau'd. I do however take my banjo to work and play on my breaks in the alley so I got that goin in the right direction, and no they do not care. Thanks for the video.
Damn, that's a bummer. Hopefully you find a group of good folks. For me, the folks over at banjo heritage have been awesome. Maybe swing by over there? Good luck and God bless!
Hey thanks for the ramble…Narcan? Im an old boy just starting old time banjo after hearing and loving the music Nora/Stephanie and Allison/Tatiana play. Any further insights you have regarding developing technique would be really helpful. As with this video your journey and reflections about it is a more interesting approach to answer the questions beginners like me have. ❤
Thanks for the view. I enjoy the company of the folks at old time fiddlers of northern CA as well as the fine folks at banjoheritage.com. How about you?
Hey! It was a regular good time. I was aware that it was substantially marked up at the time of sale, but given market forces at that time, specifically related to demand generated by covid, there was little I could do about it . Lesson learned! Thanks for the view.

Well said, Tapatio guy
Have you altered the tuning on your AC 12 to anything special? I have one and love it. I put Nylgut strings on it to try for a plunkier sound.
Great video!
Thanks for watching!
