- Freak Show begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. I watched an interview once with Jessica Lange a few years ago and they asked her why season 4 was her last season for AHS and her answer was “I just feel that I could never top Elsa Mars, she was my favorite character I’ve ever done and I wanted to leave the show on a high note”.
She was absolutely right about that. I loved her as Fiona Goode, but Elsa was just such a strange character and I think she killed it!

Freak Show is the saddest season of AHS in my opinion. I literally cried multiple times on numerous episodes. Freak Show captures the corruption, malevolence, and viciousness of human-beings exploiting others and taking advantage of those who are in a disadvantage. It displays what’s like being a social outcast where other people discriminate against you & ridicule you. It also shows love and rapport among people and family. Jessica Lange is incredible. I wish she’d come back to AHS!

the Jim Morrison lyric might not fit, but Lana's whole vibe is so deeply retro that the song otherwise fits fine. honestly that line didn't even hit me at the time because the song itself described Elsa so perfect that it could've been written for her, or her written for it.

GruesomeBoxGaming the movement of the camera going forward while the character moves towards us creates excitement and emotional resonance along with the expression of the man; determination. This contrasts with the spinning fairest wheel, all in all, the shot has movements going backwards, forwards and to the left. This gives the shot a lot of dimension. To top it all off, the lightening creates contrast in lighting and gives the whole thing a kick in the balls to look and feel epic.

Freak show is hands down one of the best seasons. Everyone says it’s the worst but honestly as someone who’s always been different and looked at as weird, this season really resonated with me.

I couldn't believe my eyes and ears when she started singing this song and it was honestly overwhelming emotionally.
Innocence lost. Freak Show was a truly good season for somehow succeeding in reminding us of our humanity and to have empathy and compassion for our fellow man. And here Jessica Lange's brilliant performance evokes not only Elsa's motivated and often selfish ambitions but also her pain and longing for hope in a better life for someone as "freakish" as her. RIP to all those unknown names who experienced persecution and prejudice but had dreams as bright as everyone else's

I mean, they all did-definitely my favourite one by far.
Lana version is soft and sweet as always but this version is something on different level the emotions , action , dance and specially the maturity of jassica voice makes this version so badass more maturely more emotional just mesmerising her way of singing along each words like she mean it every way , the tune of alienation when mordak arrives first is also so finely tuned and amazing.
