Although this is not the best fight, I have to say, Polygon Man has a pretty sick motive for being a villain.
The reason behind his design and creation are that he was supposed to be the PS's mascot, but he was never used, and after years of rejection he started to envy all others who were given the throne he was solely created for, so he decided to drag the protagonists out of their worlds and bring them into one of his own creation, as seeing that the only way to prove his superiority was to defeat all others and prove to their creators as well as his own that he is the one worthy of the title.
Quite creative, but he deserved a far more challenging final battle.
Kind of immersive as he was defeated, and in the end still remains mostly unknown
He actually was used for a while until he was scrapped and he was scrapped because the CEO of ps had thought he was creepy

Honestly a shame that the fight boiled down to fight a bunch of clones, and that's really it.
I mean, why couldn't we have gotten something like Smash Bros. did with its final bosses? He could keep his stage hazard transformations, but they could do more than just interfere with the fight.
Hell, I've got an idea: as with normal opponents, you have to build up your meter and land a super move on Polygon Man in order to take away a proper chunk of his health. Level 1s are least likely to hit, Level 2 has a greater chance but still might not hit, and Level 3 is a guaranteed hit. While Polygon Man builds up his own meter that functions like yours, and if he hits you with one of his super moves, that's how you lose one of your lives. Keeps the gameplay intact, while actually making him feel like a boss.

I miss this game after my ps3 broke it was so fun
I imagine Polygon man can attack without the help of his false polygon hero’s and villains.
-He shoot lasers from his eyes
-Change the stage layout with his mind like Einstein,
-He can kill you with his big head while creating a shock wave that will kill you if you don’t time your jumps right.
-With the last of his remaining power, he’ll destroy the whole stage with you on it, no matter how many lives you have, the character you play as fall to an abyss, presumably dead. Unless you can stop him from doing so.
kratos himself appears as a false polygon fighter, how did he fail to defeat such an easy boss?

as much as I love the game and do enjoy the final boss.......Master Hand is better in comparison. That all I can say.

There is a "magic" in Smash Bros bosses. Master and Crazy Hands, Tabuu, Galeem and Dharkon... They all are feeling more like powerful and mysterious beings who can manipulate the universe. They are not talking, they don't have a backstory how they appeared. They feel like forces of nature, lovecraftian gods who can destroy all living beings. And they have interesting designs and movesets. I love japanese's philosophy of game design, and that's what makes their games unique from western.
What's about Polygon Man? It's just a card-carrying villain who tries to look creepy and evil, making evil laugs. It's just a typical villain that mostly doesn't even want to fight you but sends minions. He is boring.

I haven't played this game (no playstation), though from what I've seen I feel it doesn't deserve to be called the poor man's Smash Bros.
Despite that I feel perfectly within my rights to say that this final boss is stupid. He's the final boss and he's not even the main threat in the fight, he's just an annoyance.

A bit disappointed this isn't available anymore. It needs a revamp. Maybe his pieces are scattered and the various PS4 characters find them. They end up accidentally giving them power and they eventually all form into Polygon Man, where he drags the characters into his realm to force them to fight.

He was the prototype mascot of PlayStation to show of how powerful the PlayStation 1’s 3d capabilities were back then,but he got rejected at the last second,and years later he got jealous that all the other PlayStation games got more popular than he ever was,and he became evil and then created a universe of his own and forced all the ps universes into one and force all the protagonists to fight each other,and all of his minions you fight in the final boss are the characters who tried to defeat him but failed miserably,until he was eventually defeated and everyone live happily ever after

I wish ps all star vs smash bros
He is here! He is the cursed Polygon Man, a powerful villainous being with only one head, who emerged from purple long ago. He battled praise from him, giving any character by dragging them out of their worlds to fight against each other, but repeatedly kill each other, with his own master plan to destroy the PlayStation universe, in addition to his own attempts to stay away by transforming innocent people and individuals, including past PlayStation heroes, into his own minions. Then PlayStation All-Stars, who are Polygon Man's enemies, appeared as they battle Polygon Man three times, before his unfortunate death, with a unique surprise where both individuals and clones of PlayStation All-Stars die from brutal and crude way (despite this, the multi-colored, customized PlayStation All-Stars characters kill another one or be killed by them all day, before being brought back to life, thus sometimes nearly or mostly all of the normal PlayStation All-Stars survived that way, in a similar manner to Happy Tree Friends). Thus, the adventures of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (unlike Happy Tree Friends) doesn't have any bloody scenes including deaths nor gore, with less injuries without blood or bruises, though it would have less cursed words.

This game should have been amazing, the boss it literally playstations original official maskot who was abandoned and Sony covered up and hid from the public for years.
Unfortunately the character pool was terrible. Even in 2013, Sony had like 50 exclusive characters they could have used, even if they stick to one character per IP, but instead we just got 24. 2 of those were just random characters from popular multiplatoform games at the time (Bioshock and Dead Space), 2 were the same exact character in different colours (good and evil Cole), 3 were non maskots (raiden instead of snake, reboot Dante from the multiplatoform game, instead of original Dante from the 4 PS games, and Zues from GoW.)
And then there was so many playstation icons missing, with Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon being the main sins.
Plus the gameplay was poor, instead of scoring by knocking opponents out , you score by connecting special moves. Absolutely ruined it.
They could absolutely make a seuqal to this now with like 100 mascots, Astro Bot has proved that they can obtain the rights to all the IPs they don't actually own, including Crash and Spyro.
When i first fought Polygon Man, i was certain he was gonna use the environmental hazards as HIS SPECIAL MOVE that killed you in one hit. Imagine how much THAT would have sucked.

this needed to be much challenging and tricky especially if its a final boss
i feel like him using his eyes as laser would have been really cool and the head slam could create a shockwave that kills you if you dont time your jumps correctly multiple times until he stops
along with his head sliding all the way that you need to jump over in later phases
