    Thanks for sharing this knoledge. I'm very comfortable with the powerslide, but feel the danger of it as well. Now trying to get at ease with soul slides and will emphasize a bit more on that after seeing this video.

    Yes, yes, yes! Everyone pay attention, this is great information on how to progress and stay safe!

    Natan, great video as usual!!! I really enjoy you’re style of explaining “why” this and “why” non this, or better “this is useful” and “this is useless” for braking and downhill scenarios!!!! 🔝

    Fair points..
    Guess I'll be practising soul slides, magic, parallel slides!

    Great video Natan. It s really great how you explain why is not much sense in downhill.

    Really appreciate the how and why! I also have mostly abandoned the powerslide in favor of the soul slide at fast speeds. I was wondering if it was due to my own technique that it felt unsafe, or more intrinsic to the powerslide itself. Thanks a bunch for explaining!

    Thanks for the video. I'm from Brasil and your lessons are helping me a lot, I was struggling with soul slide and a weak snowplow before, so was always burning wheels with t-brakes for long distances, but now I can feel the technical evolution since I started watching your channel.

      Stoked. There are so many good riders with potential in Brazil; I'd like to see a higher technical braking level! Keep at it.

    I like doing a 180 to powerslide then a 180 out, I feel like it looks really cool. I am working on my magic and parallel slide and hopefully I will get it soon. I’m having a hard time getting my back foot in position for magic slide, but am planning on spraying some soapy water in my basement and trying it that way. Thank you for the all the great tidbits of information. This is the nest technical skills channel out there by far!

    Nice Natan! I did start with powerslide to learn the feeling of sliding, but eventually I abandoned it since it is not very effective downhill and it is hard to control even in moderately high speeds (too risky to turn your back!)
    Btw, you have mentioned in a few videos that it is best technique to not turn your shoulders when sliding -- while I can certainly see reasons behind it (e.g., better control of the progression of the slide, easier to get back into position), I also feel the sliding safer/perhaps more natural, when reinforcing the movement of the waist with the movement of the shoulders, especially if the goal of the slide is to come to a complete stop (though I am not yet at the stage to try sliding at really high speeds, so it might be a placebo effect). It would be great if you could explain this in more detail in one of your videos!
    Many thanks again for these tutorials!

      Hey, I understand the feeling, but have a look at the top riders in the world. Many of their shoulders are as square forward as they can be while putting the hips, knees and ankles into a position to slide. It's a matter of repetition to develop the skill and the muscles in the hips, legs, and abdominals. You'll see some higher level athletes learn to slide quickly because the physical aspect is already there. I'm just saying that it's possible and the proper way to do it. Keep at it!

      Thanks, yes! I think I can see why in a downhill race one would want to be as square as possible, since it would be hard to maintain speed otherwise... I was just wondering whether going down my local hill there is a safety benefit of reinforcing the slide and the hips with the shoulders' movement, or it is actually a source of more trouble at higher speeds.

      @@andreasblading9481 Leave the Powerslide . Apply the Soul , Magic or Parallel .

    • @InlineDownhillVancouver
      @InlineDownhillVancouver 3 роки тому +1

      @@andreasblading9481 Racing has nothing to do with it and braking is about reducing speed, not maintaining it; square shoulders is just the correct technique to have the best, safest, and most efficient carving and sliding. You'll see a lot of people get away with turning their shoulders, and other things, that will be exposed as the speed increases. I'm not the best example, but staying low and using my hips with a square controlled upper brought my broken body as far as it could go with inline downhill carving and sliding.

    My opinion after looking at everyone teaching...no one has his capability as a teacher of inline
