    For a heating radiator using the coolant from your generator, that is exactly how an automotive heater/devroster works. You could probably get the controls and valves from an old truck or van and simply treat your hvac radiator as an automotive heater core.

    Even if you don’t move the radiator , you can plumb in a heater core or multiple units in different locations. It only needs 5/8 hose. It will be like adding a second radiator (or more) so will also help cool.

    Heads up. I've tried exhaust flex pipe and the heat wrap and it didn't work out. It eventually leaked from the micro-flexing, from the vibration, at all of the seams. I eventually ended up using a rosebud torch to bend non-gavanized tubing packed with sand. The packed sand holds the tube's shape during the bending process. Or you can buy pre-bent exhaust system tube sections and weld them together.

    Car heaters work by running coolant through an auxiliary radiator tied into the cooling loop. Which is why if the engine is overheating on an old car you can help it a bit by putting the heat on and the ventilation on max. I think you could run the coolant line to a second radiator with a manual valve to it, and a variable speed fan.

    @alexbrauninger3687 4 години тому +3

    Shame the generator broke down. So you know how many hours you have put on the EcoFlow unit? Good to see the diesel make it to the boat after watching Simon build it all those videos ago. What you could do for the winter is plumb your radiator circuit through the engine (bit like fitting a heater matrix or calorifier) so there would be no need to run the boiler whilst the generator is running. Might still need the cooling radiator but it would help use the heat as well as stop it getting too hot

    Having had two generators - one raw salt water cooled, and one fresh water through a heat exchanger. I can strongly recommend you use the fresh water/heat exchanger route.
    As for solar panels. The ones that produce the most power are not ones you can walk on. the walkable ones have a problem, when you fix them to the deck, that means that there is no means of cooling under the panel. That has a big impact on performance,

    Simon fooling around with his sweetheart Jenny? I like the type of humour you show in the videos, so keep it up.. Also, a remote automatic stop from the battery-bank to the generator would be nice. And I think mounting the radiator a floor up should work, as long as you get all the air out and move the overflowbottle up with the radiator too.

    Solar Installations. I have followed the Project Brupeg and they have done some extensive work with solar and Victron kit. They have also used walk-on solar panels. Another is Sailing Parlay Revival they have also done some work with solar to be able to live off grid. It sounds like you need a sparky with solar knowledge and boat installs. We have a Victron in our house for our 4k solar install and we have two arrays on the roof feeding into a Solis inverter. It's obviously different being a house but the Victron (used for our battery bank and receives power from the Solis) kit is very flexible and the Victron people are very supportive. Good luck and thanks for the video
