    I have used a full rig with 16 das event 210s and 8 event 218s and they sound fantastic we did end up clipping the whole rig we ran the Midas M32 very hot and the cabinets were clipping, but they still sounded great and took a beating! And we ran the gig very hot because we were simply asking to much from the cabniets for the size of the event, the company now has all Das event 212a and the difference is night and day (power wise). But man that’s a weird issue that the Midas pro might have, I’ve never ran into that issue because the company I work for has never had the console at hand, we usually use the M32, digico s21 and s31 and a Yamaha cl3 and it sounds fantastic! And can’t forget Allen and Heath Dlive! But overall I have been very impressed with das, at first the tops can sound a little dull but with a little bit of eq the cabniets absolutely shine, and the processing the cabinets it has on its own is great! It allows me to run separate matrixes to control my tops and subs to balance the system more, ideally I do prefer to use a processor from das to do fancy things like time aligning the line arrays with the subs or auto eq the system with pink noise etc…. But if you don’t have a processor you shouldn’t have a problem at all! And on a side note if a engineer tells you the pa isn’t loud enough but the cabniets aren’t even hitting close to limit, then most likely they are doing something wrong at the FOH console, And the reliability of these cabinets is amazing! The amp modules from powersoft have never failed me neither have the drivers even is extreme heat it has never quit on me! I only have one complaint with a das this has nothing to do with the das event 210 or 208 but more with 212a and it not necessarily an issue but I will say that 4 das event 212a easily over power 2 das event event 218s. At a graduation I did I thought something was wrong with my output or input because my subs just kept on limiting and limiting and it had nothing to do with it. It was just simply that the das 212a were just way to powerful for the 2 das event 218s, in last years we just did a ground stack of 2 das 218s and 4 das event 210a and we didn’t use any separate signals to control the tops and subs we just simply jumped the signal from the subs to the line arrays and it worked outstanding! But now we have to use 3 das event 218s I’m order for it to keep up with the 4 event 212a and also we are also now sending separate matrixes on the M32 to control the volume of the line arrays and the subs to balance it out, but holy crap man the das event 212a is extremely powerful compared to the das 210a it’s night and day, but so far that’s my only complaint about a das product

    Great video ! Really appreciate you on taking the time to do this video , I am currently working on building a DAS event system, questions, when you use the drive rack , what level/Volume knob do you set the subs at ? Do you bump up any frequency on the subs when you use the subs for live bands ? Thank you once again!! Cheers 🍻

      @TheAngrySoundTech  5 років тому +1

      Do you mean the knob on the sub? I always keep knobs on all speakers I buy at 12 o'clock. One of the sound techs that work for me always cranks them up all the way. I'm not a fan of this as I prefer to run speakers at unity. As for EQ on the subs. When mixing live music the only standard thing I do to the subs is set the crossover to cut off at 40 hz. Otherwise all my EQing is room specific where I take the parametric EQ and just do some narrow sweeps pulling out frequencies I don't like. But to be honest with the Event series the DSP and EQ that DAS puts in the box is really good. You shouldn't have to do much EQing on them. The majority of my EQing is on the tops just to tone down the highs in smaller venues. But in open air outdoor environments you should't have to do much to them. I've had lots of nationally touring sound techs comment on how good the boxes sound and how little EQ they require. I do the 40 hz cut off on all speaker systems when mixing a live band to minimize unnecessary ultra low end. I figure I might as well save all that subwoofer energy for a nice punchy kick drum instead of low end rumble.

      Thank you for your response! I ordered a pair of the Event 218 a few days ago, I am really excited to use them! I thought of a few more questions, do you set the crossover on the tops at 100hz? When you use the drive rack do you go from the L & R from the mixer to the input L & R input of the Drive rack and use the 2 output from the drive rack to the subs and chain them to the top or do you send a different feed from the drive rack to the subs? Also do you bump 6db to the subs as well or do you leave them normal. Once again I am really thankful for your input, not manny people can answer these questions locally here in AZ.

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  5 років тому +1

      Yep, I typically use 100hz for the crossover point between the tops and subs. I would set the crossover on the 218A cabinet as high as it would go and then use the crossover in the driverack to do the work. I would do it this way because you can set the type of crossover you want to use in the driverack. I have also tried using 90hz but I prefer 100hz.

    Thank you on the honest and easy to understand review. Luckily, you didn't have to get too angry to do the video. lol. My speaker philosophy seems to align with D.A.S. A good quality, "matched" - proper powered system of speakers + amps, with a quality (digital?) signal should not need EQ. That's how my home surround system operates using digital optical interface and all JBL equipment. I never touch an EQ or use a DSP. I get the "sound" as recorded by the artist, with only a "boost" to the overall signal (gain). I want to hear the differences between artists and their music without coloration. So, looks like I need to take a look at D.A.S. Pro eqpt. as I am not very familiar with the audio company. Thank You! And Remember: "It isn't what you do that matters, only whether if you get caught!" Peace. :)

    EXACTO AMIGO! trabajo mis DAS EVENT 210A con una consola MACKIE DL32R, muchas personas trabajan enchufando la señal desde la consola hasta los DAS, y no consigues sacarle el máximo rendimiento al parlantes, ya que la sensibilidad de salida de las consolas digitales son de +21db y la sensibilidad de las DAS son de +4db.
    para solucionar eso se requiere una consola que te de +4db de salida o en tal caso usar un procesador en mi caso uso la DBX VENU360 para dar la señal que realmente requiere las DAS, son unos parlantes extremadamente buenos.

      There are times I wish I would have went with the 208's instead of the 210's. For some of the shows we do a little smaller and a little lighter would be nice.

    Great vid!! I’m currently thinking on going with de JBL VRX but saw this boxes a couple weeks ago. Do you think going straight to this is a good idea? I currently own a PRX system but really just starting (starting the 3rd year) my rental business so a bigger system is in order. Please share your thoughts. My initial buy would be just 1 rack of boxes and a pair of double subs. Thank you!!

      I was in your shoes about 5 years ago... I went with a constant curvature system like the JBL VRX. I bought the QSC KLA system. I outgrew the system really fast. There just isn't much scaleability to them. If you're only using one or two of the VRX boxes per side you might as well just be using a standard ground stack point source system. Then if you get to the point of having 3 or 4 per side and hanging them you'll start to wish you had a standard line array system so you could hang the array flat. The curve gets very pronounced really fast as you start adding boxes to a VRX or KLA system. I would recommend going straight to a dual 8 inch or dual 10 inch line array box. But with that being said I should ask how big of shows are you looking at doing?

      As for now I do outdoor weddings for 200ish people (we actually fly the prx boxes, 2 or sometimes 4 on the corners of the dancefloor and subs on the floor) and some live shows for 100ish heads. Also some smaller stuff (speech) and smaller dj gigs for 50-80 people (for this I usually use EON615s). Honestly on the bigger events this year I’ve been feeling like I’m on the edge as on how much my prx tops and subs can provide. You can hit mi IG djvic.peru for some pics so you get a feel of where I am right now. Thanks a lot, your opinion really helps!

      With the information you provided I think you're on the right track with the VRX system. You're already hanging speakers and realistically with two per side you should be able to do shows around 500 people and if you expanded to 4 per side you could do up to 1,000 people. I outgrew my KLA system fast because I started to book some national production shows that had up to 2500 people in attendance. If you don't see yourself getting into the really big stuff within the next couple years I would stick with the simplicity of a constant curvature array.

    Event 208 is 132 db. Both are 3 way and both are wood cabinets but do not offer remote controllable electronics like the RCF does. The RCF is a 2 way cabinet and is a composite plastic material .

      I became a DAS Audio dealer when we began rotating our entire speaker inventory over to DAS Audio. If you plan on spending over $50,000 on speakers in the next couple years just become a dealer. They will give you production pricing and it'll save you some money. But if you just plan on buying the 8 boxes and that's it they probably won't let you become a dealer. If you'd like I can give you a price quote. I don't have the lowest price breaks since I get production pricing but I might be able to save you some $$. Shoot me an email Brian@PirateRadio.Productions and I'll give you a quote.

    and Angry Sound Tech: Correct! This is a common case when we add in the proper nomenclature here - 0dBu vs 0dBFS vs 0dBv (I'm old-school). So in a respectful way; let’s just say the touring tech forgot to check the FOH ref. level for setting their gain-structure. Example, 0dBu (+4) vs 0dBFS in the case of the Midas Pro, etc. Or desk may have been in Studio Mode vs Live Mode. The standard (at least in broadcasting and engineering music concerts personally) is +4 0dB. Also, a Drive-Rack in some form is recommended. Love using Midas M32 and will keep the DAS Event in mind thx. Cheers

    I'm interested in this box. I'm running 4 QSC E218sw bottoms powered with a Powersoft K10. My interest is to ground stack these on the subs outdoors. Do to my budget would 3 boxes a side keep up with the bottom?

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  2 роки тому

      I don't think you'll have an issue with the tops keeping up. But you'll probably eventually want to get 4 per side. That is a two carts worth of speakers and the maximum for a ground stack. It'll also ensure you get enough height on the boxes.

    I plan to purchase these for my church which sits up to 700 people and we average about 400-500 people per service. I was thinking 5 top on each side with 10 total and 4 subs, two per side. Would you say this is a sustainable buy to be used at least 3 times a week?

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  5 років тому +2

      Yes, I don't think you would have any trouble using these 3 times a week for many many years. I would also add a system processor. It wouldn't have to be a crazy expensive one. I just use a DBX Driverack PA2. Their great for EQing the room, setting the crossover, maybe applying a little auto feedback suppression if you have volunteer sound techs.

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  3 роки тому +1

      I've sold off the KLA's but in the end now I've sold the Event 210A's and I kind of wish I still had the KLA's. There just wasn't enough large gigs to support owning that big of a system.

      @@TheAngrySoundTech Did you prefer the KLA over the 210A?

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  2 роки тому +1

      Russell if we're just talking about sound quality I'd take an Event 210A system any day over the KLA's. It's a way better sounding system. But it's not nearly as portable or flexible. So if you mostly do small and mid-sized gigs get the KLA's. But if you do a lot of large gigs where you'll always want more than 2 KLA boxes then get a real line array like the Event 210A. Also on a side note I had also wished I would have went with the Event 208A instead of the 210A. 208's would have been easier to move and set up and at the lower price point I could have gotten more boxes.
      I'm currently looking at the DB Technologies Vio x206 because of how flexible the system is. My business is smaller and leaner these days. I don't have the storage space or the extra labor like I used to but I'm still busy. So for me I look for a system that's flexible now. One that can easily be used for small events but also scaled up for the occasion large event.

      @@TheAngrySoundTech Very late reply but I really appreciate your response! I usually just help my dad out with his lights and sound business and he owns a good amount of those 210A speakers which sound incredible imo. Tho we're in a similar spot where things are a bit slower and the events that we do aren't really big enough at all to make full usage of the equipment we have. We usually barely even need to use more than one 210A + sub per side, lol. For now though we'll be sticking with the 210A since we've already committed to them. Thanks again for your reply!
