Choppers, choppers choppers,, love choppers !!! You can probably tell,, we never saw them at Shrewsbury. Well,,, very very rarely. Thanks for sharing. 👍😎🍻
Thank you David, just watched your "Oh Deer" video, very good, we also have a Deer that resides near the railway track in Spalding, have not yet caught him on Video, keep trying!
Thank you for watching my video Roy. That deer was a total surprise although we do have an abundance of them. I made my first trip to Barnetby in the early 2000's and I've been back 3 or 4 times. I have not seen it since the semaphores were removed and of course it's all 66's in there now, not the variety there used to be. Good luck with your deer. Kind regards, David.
I also have not been to Barnetby since the semaphores went David, I don't drive too far these days. I have got footage there in the early 2000's when I used to drive up to the North Yorkshire moors and would always take a break at Barnetby. I will try and put some of it on sometime over the winter so keep watching. Cheers Roy.
Ah good memories indeed - great sounds. Probably still one of the best places for seeing loco hauled action today. I still have my ticket from my first train journey as young spotter - Grimsby to Barnetby for 17 pence return in June 1975. I csn remember the excitement of seeing my first class 25 there (024) that day. Interesting to see the large crew getting dropped off by the class 37. Not sure health and safety would allow that today!
That was a slog for those 37s pulling away with the iron ore train at 9:00. That was the High Speed Track Recording Coach DB999550 in the consist of that train headed by the 47 at 2:00 wasn't it. And coming back at 12:45.
8.21 how many staff can you fit in the cab of a 37 lol. Looked like some were Pway staff, maybe there van had failed !!! This was My Age of the Train. Sadly all gone now . Thanks for sharing. 🤩😎👍
No that was a class 114 in the SYPTE brown and cream livery. The easiest way to tell the difference is by the windows 4 full size windows for the class 114 against 3 for the class 108. Also the half window is at the driver's end in the class 114 and at the ither end for the class 108. Roy filmed this unit in many locations in Lincolnshire including Spalding.
@@philipmadhatter4006 sorry for late reply, make long story short, i grew up here in sa, i read British rail magazines and books when a young lad, most of our old Steam locos were British build, even some of our first electric locos, i also like watching UK railway vids on yt and Railcam UK. i sometime film trains here in south africa to, i used to work for SAR, south african railways!

This was definitively a different Barnetby compared to the last years of semaphore signaling, the traction was different and better, the ugly ramps to the footbridge weren't there and I also noticed an absence of housing near east box, and a large building behind that box that is gone (what was the purpose of that building, looks like a malting to me). Also very noticable is the absence of coal trains, Britain didn't need to import coal back then!, most of the trains then seemed to carry iron ore to Scunthorpe.

Glad you liked the Choppers Ian, we had two through Spalding a few weeks ago, see my Video on 1st Aug.
Barnetby looked a lot more interesting in them days. than today. Very enjoyable to watch, THANK YOU
Wonderful footage again, thanks. 8:30 reminds me of that old joke, "how many railwaymen can you fit in a class 37" lol
Like a circus clown car!
Being an ex Immingham second man this film certainly brought back the memories.Thankyou for it.
That 31 was working hard with those tanks :-)
Fantastic. Enjoyed that.
Excellent quality footage, thank you for uploading
A classic Video. Thank you for sharing it Roy. Kind regards, David.

Great, really enjoyed, shame I didn't get here until 2007!

I used to love bashing Deltics here. The trains were virtually empty and I had the buffet car to myself.
And then we got class 66's and bloody Sprinters!!
Very nice!

What is barnetby like now for freight trains
I have not been there for over three years David, I don't think there is as much traffic as there used to be.

Thank you Roy for your information
Where is the best location for freight trains in your opinion
Like the double headed 37s
Good old 37's!

Yes it is a different place now, I have not visited since the semaphores went. The large building you mentioned was I believe like you said a Malting.
