As of October 1st, 2023, a new requirement has been implemented for foreigners seeking to convert their foreign driver’s license into a Vietnamese one. Now, individuals must possess a temporary residence card issued by the Immigration Department to initiate the conversion process.
The law has changed. You must now have a temporary residence card to obtain a Vietnam driver license. To get a TRC you must be married to a Vietnamese national and file many forms etc. If you are not married to a Vietnamese national, you must have a work permit showing your company sponsored you for one, and, to work here you must have Vietnamese health insurance. It is illegal to live or work here without insurance. So, no tourist or short-term visitor can drive a moto here.

If you are a senior wanting to retire in Vietnam on your Canadian pension and do not want to get married ... or buy a business in Vietnam... How can you retire there.. and stay..?
Hey, Unfortunately there isn't any kind of retirement visa in Vietnam. The only option is to stay on a tourist visa for 90 days and do visa run in Cambodia.
Ya Ive heard this... also heard you can be denied for no reason ...how much do these runs cost and how long must you stay out ...any advice on this.. Ty,
@rowdyraven2009 Single entry Visa is $25 and multiple entries is $50. There isn't any wating time between the time that you leave Vietnam and the time that you come back, you can leave Vietnam and immediately come back with a new visa over and over again That's the official website of the Vietnamease Government in order to apply for tourist visa evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/en_US/web/guest/trang-chu-ttdt
