I remember seeing this video years ago. It took me a while to find it again. Best explanation and I like they modify it to look 'sexier'

I am a lindy hopper who has dabbled in a few other dances. I do like going out to rockabilly shows here and there and this clip will be of a great help for those slower more country type numbers or just to mix in as the mood and music fits. Nice little primer guys.

In Alberta this is how we are taught to two step in school and by our parents, grandparents, etc. At least in the northern part of the province

@donrobbins357 . I actually checked there first and that prompted me to ask in this forum. On wikipedia, they expand on other dances but not the "country swing" or version of the country two step that is depicted in this video. I wanted the instructors to expand further on the history of this version along with other dances mentioned on their website (country one step? ect)
Here In Texas the only way to to 2 step is up against one another. And its a lot slower than what he showing you on here. Its a dance, your not supposed to be trying to get a cardio workout in. Now swing dancing is another essential dance but that is an entirely different thing all the way around.

Just curious what they style of this two step is called i see this style danced often in clubs... i only know texas two-step as i dance that style socially and did do it competitively
Your upper body is suppose to stay quite in 2 step, AKA not moving, until you are leading a pattern. It makes it really hard for the follows to tell when you are going to do something different if you are doing all the rock steps and such. You are doing more of a slow dance quickly. Maybe stick to Country Swing as you seem to be very good at that!

I cannot figure out 2 step because I can't figure out how to dance to the beat of the music we are dancing to. I know the 1 2 1-2 and everything but when I get out there I am trying to figure out how to dance to the beat of the music I am dancing to and it never works out. None of the videos I can find have the people dancing to music either! Looks good though!

Instead of quick quick slow slow. I would have said One and Two One. For the lead, you step with the left bring your right up and then step with the left again then rock back on the left and repeat. One and Two One. On the beat of course, which is why some songs are better for dancing than others.

Sorry fella, you don't know much about old school country two step. You know your version and think it is the only version. Not so much, chamaco .Cut down on the bravado and actually show it like people do not know anything. That is the biggest mistake with young teachers, they cannot put themselves into the realm of no knowledge.
Maybe you can be humble some day, and not so full of yourself. Just sayin'
