Sams in a Pete ! If you know you know! Nothing wrong with living at home. I was a solo female truck driver over 20 years ago. The crap I had to deal with is unbelievable. I’d start driving again if I could only deal with you!! I’m just. Gunna say… Thank you for appreciating your drivers. He’s wanting to pre- load. I truly appreciate the love you give to your drivers! Young and old. People don’t understand especially these days… farmers and truckers!!

Oh I can believe the crap. I used to tell new female drivers to wear a safety vest and a headset when they went into a truckstop so there was no question of their profession.
      It helped....Some

At our house, we use a programmable thermostat that has 4 settings: wake up, leave, return, sleep.
At our cottage we use a programmable thermostat and an app on our cell phone. Nice to arrive to a warm or air conditioned cottage.

What I have learned over the years of HVAC, it's best to leave it at one temperature 24/7. The system always plays catch up when you go down then up, causing more use of electricity and fuel to reheat or cool down. Pick 70° or whatever you like and stay there. Just my experience. Love the videos.! God Bless.!

We keep our house 72 all winter (WI). Some people turn it down, and when we lived in town we did too. Now though, if the power goes out it's generally out for hours and if the house starts warmer it gives us extra time before we are too cold or have to worry about frozen pipes.

Good work today, DC ! 👍
    As for the heat:
Usually sometime in early January I turn the furnace on with the timer set for :
    6:45 a.m. to 8:45 70°
That's usually enough to warm up and the house stays comfortable all day. The morning sun coming in the windows also keeps the house warm.
8:45 a.m. until the following morning it stays set at 60°
March 1st. I turned the heat off and the sunshine in the morning keeps us warm.

what i have found is that changing temps on a daily basis saves you little to nothing. the energy yiou save turning it down for a few hours is used up when you heat the house back up. if you are going to be gone for over a day or two, then turning the temp way down will save you some.

We have a heat pump and just leave it the same temperature, day and night, used to have a automatic thermostat but in the winter time the backup heat had to come on to warm up the house, that just killed any of the savings. We have an addition to the house, a master suite , sunroom and laundry, had to use gas heat because we ran out of circuits, that’s still on a automatic thermostat, doesn’t matter with gas, bedroom cools down at night and when we’re not home.

My thermostat stays at 74 during the winter (there is a vent too close to the thermostat so it's about 72 in the home). If you turn the temp down low at night it takes more energy to heat the furnishings back to the day temp. It doesn't save any money. Some people sleep better in a cooler room though.

I leave it at 15 or 20 deg. I tend to have the AC on a lot more year round, as it tends to not get really cold here. It depends on how active I am. I've had days were it was like 10 deg and I had my sleeves rolled up. If you're working hard you don't feel as cold. But, if I'm just in the office, usually 18 to 20 deg is fine.

As far as heat we use propane fire forced hot air and a wood pellet stove. The pellet stove is used in the mornings and weekends. Normally we keep the temp at 62 at night then bring it to 68 when we wake up, until after breakfast then it's back to 62 until supper. After supper we drop the furnace to 62 and use the pellet stove to keep the living room at 70 (in order to watch Daddy corn star in comfort). On Saturdays the temp stays at 62, and on Sunday afternoons the temp stays between 67 and 68 so that the home-made bread and rolls that we(ok my wife makes) so that we have fresh bread for the week rises better.

I live down here in southeast Texas, but it can get cold in wintertime sometimes. I normally in cold weather leave the heater on 67 degrees, but if it's really cold, like the 19 degrees we had earlier this year, I will turn it up to 68. That seems to heat our home pretty well. Each house and each location will be different though depending on where a person lives.

I do 72 all winter. Turning it down at night and back up in the morning to save money has the opposite effect. It actually takes more energy to bring the house back up to temp then it does to just maintain temp all night because everything in the house including the wall have to be warmed up again. It not just the air in the room that you have to heat again

I think the temperature that you keep your house at has a lot to do with what’s happening outside as well as the humidity level in the air. I live in Phoenix Arizona and I keep it at 60 to 64° in the winter because for the most part it really warms up during the day to 70 72 all on its own inside the house.

Consider buying a setback thermostat that you can program to automatically setback the thermostat at night and turn it up to a preset temperature in the morning. Many modern thermostats can be connected to Wi-Fi so you can control the temperature with an app on your phone. In the long term you’d save on your energy bill.

Many ranchers and farmers here have the same problem with chaff and grain dust smothering a work space. I have seen some put up a plexiglass pane in front of where they stand and it helps cut the mess pretty good. It is a small price to pay to keep debris out of your eyes.
As to the perpetual thermostat battle it doesn't matter where you live there is always one that wants the temp at the wrong setting for the other. Here in TX we have already hitting the occasional 80 degrees. Summers bring 100+ temps for months and winter is usually only in the 30s a few weeks at the most.
The seasons in TX are basically summer and Feb.

My house is 68-72 year round, It doesnt heat until it gets below 68, it doesnt cool until above 72, Usually we try to keep it about 68 or 69 but if we just let our thermostat do its thing itll just keep it between that range.

Daddy C…we live in IA too. We keep our house at 71 all day but turn it down to 65 at night. It’s all done automatically on our thermostat. Happy day to you!!

One of our two sons still lives at home, and he's 35. They know they are both welcome here as long as they want to stay. It's always their home.

64° at night, 67° during the day. We have forced air heat but I would love radiant heat.

I’m curious about the corn. Dunno if you know the answer, but…
#1. What percentage of the corn is used for feed? Ethanol?
#2. Is the corn always so dirty or does it vary from year to year, harvesters differ?
#3. Do the buyers complain about trash in the corn? Or do they expect it to be dirty?
If they expect it to be dirty, how clean do they get it before use?
