    Thank you for sharing this video, and for all the effort that went into filming, editing and posting it. The luminous green of the trees, the deep red of the clay and the easy banter and respectful presentation all came together in the beautiful South Georgia sunshine to make this one of my favorites. Great way to start my day out here in Nevada. Thank you again so much.

    What a lovely little family cemetery in the midst of a beautiful, quiet wooded area! These folks may not be remembered by too many today, but God knew them better than anybody on this earth, could. He never forgets any of us!

    Well-done. That road was definitely dicey, & despite having to make that long hike, ultimately was the right decision.---Also, the scenery combined with the geology highlights, made this visit a real treat.---And, I do love listening to your birdsong.---I'd like to think your friend in Heaven was looking over your shoulder despite not getting there in person.---Great family outing?!

Love you both and just wanted you to know that . ❤❤Hugs from Maria in Upton Massachusetts

    The clay formations along that road are just so cool, makes me wish I finished my geology course back in the dark ages...But the cemetery is so old and beautiful and so well kept. Makes me wonder if there might be an old homestead nearbye. Thank you (to both Roberts and the assistant with the good eyes). 😸

    Robert & Mrs O., I'm just worn out walking that road with you, and knowing you've only gone half way. Robert, you have a penchant for geology. Fascinating how the geologic history can be told through that road cut. The sandstone and limestone is obvious. but where does the red clay come from? When the contract comes up July 1, you'd better add; access to and use of an ATV, 4-wheel drive or military vehicle of equal capabilities, at no charge for use and all gas and/or fuel supplied. 😉 Appreciate all of your efforts on this one especially. Hello 👋
    My great great grandma was a Whaley. Her Dad was James Kelly Whaley. I know that James Kelly Whaley went to California because he had relatives there. The famous Whaley House in California in old Town. It's been on those haunted house shows. Those were his relatives. Anyway James Kelly Whaley outlived my great grandmother Peachy Ann Whaley.(James's daughter) She died very young, she wasn't even in her 30s. She was married to John Marion Hume. They had 4 children. He got remarried and also moved to California and left all his children by Peachy Whaley in Oklahoma. That was about 100 years ago. But I'm going to do some research and see where James Kelly Whaley came from. Thank you Mr. Robert. Appreciate you.

    At 3:40 those looked like those wasps that fly around over the wet grass in the summer. They don't seem to be interested in people at all. The ones I see are blue.
    I was surprised to see that big modern bridge out in the woods on a dirt road. Around here the bridges out in the woods on dirt roads are wooden bridges. Actually we have a lot of wooden bridges around here, but in many cases they pave over the wooden decks, which I don't understand. They've only been doing that in the last 30-35 years.
    I'm surprised that you didn't comment on the fact that all the stones in that cemetery have been cleaned. But that's great. Great to see that.

    Very cool cemetery Other Robert! I have noticed that we have many soldiers graves who fought in the
    War of 1812 but few who were Revolutionary War veterans. If I remember correctly, that area wasn't settled by white folks much in the late 1700s but I know that Georgia was a hotbed of activity during the Revolution. The problem here is that the war was largely between Georgians! Most Georgians sided with the British crown for two reasons: the first reason was that the Crown had given many of the settled families a way out of debtor's prison in England, (Savannah was almost entirely a debtor's city when Oglethorpe founded it) but the biggest reason was that the northern colonies tended to put heavy tariffs on their own goods that were shipped down here! (Sound familiar?) Of course, the US Government settled that type of commerce squabbling shortly after the first elections were held for all of the states but I couldn't help but notice that a Whaley boy fought in both of the deciding battles over US commerce! 1812 totally broke ties with English control of US commerce and the Civil War unified the states into one country where the central government controls both state and interstate commerce to this day. They were an impressive family indeed!
    P.S. So folks know, I am in total agreement that freeing the slaves was the most important part of the Civil War. I do not believe in slavery in any way, shape or form! It actually took until the 1890s to the early 1900s for commerce to be corrected equally between the States again. I wish equality for all races would be corrected as well!

    • @annettegraff8323
      @annettegraff8323 Рік тому +1

      Yes! My dad was big on study of the Civil War He said that if you grew cotton in GA and shipped it north by train you got a tarrif each state passed through to the mills in the NE . Another issue was states rights . A lot of cotton was sent to Savannah to be shipped to England The cloth and thread then shipped to the states was taxed making it expensive. Following the history of quilt making in this country you can see how each scrap of cloth was prized and salvaged for the most humble coverings. The social elite carefully used French toile in their counterpanes and intricate mariners compass. The war between the states led to a more equitable distribution and less expensive manufacture of cloth to the expanding country .

      @@annettegraff8323 thank you for finishing my post so accurately! I was afraid that it was too long to begin with! You're quite right, the South was kept agricultural and stayed in trouble because of the tariffs. That's why England and France both supported the South during the war as they were conducting fair trade with Europe.

    Hey there O'Robert👋🏼 I'm sure ur friend is smiling down at you. After all, she may be the one who helped lead you to that cemetery. Sure was an awful long way up & down that road. Very interesting walk too. Luv that you showed us the various soil layers. Always wondered about actually making earth ware outta our Georgia home clay. Those yellows & pinks were pretty. Good to see this cemetery is well kept so far off the beaten path. One thing O'Robert .. I know I've said thid b4 but please dont let the camera drop below the line ur attemptimg to read. Ur having a discussion & we don't know what ut talking about bc we can't see it. I'm sure ur arm gets tired holding the camera but at least go back to it so thr viewers can see. Thnx for sharing all the adventures with us. Blessing to you & ur producer .. b safe & well Robert. ❣️🙂🙏🏼

    Every bit of this video is wonderful. What stands out to me is the close-up of the ruts - how they are their own miniature geology.

    I hope you called Robert to give you guys a ride back to the car! Wait a minute. Since this is *your* video, that makes you Robert, and him the other Robert. You should gift him a nice, neon yellow shirt.
