@@theresagarcia2622 The show is NOT about the mother and her two children. This the is about the mother, her two children and their grandma. Rita is not the focus of the show. The first two seasons may have been better than the last one so I'm gonna give you that, though I don't think that _lame_ is a word you can ever use to describe One Day at a Time.
One Day at a Time being cancelled just after three seasons was not something that I was expecting. I was eagerly waiting for the episode where Elena would get into a Ivy league school. Penelope would probably go crazy with excitement. Penelope's future after she passed her exam was also something I was looking forward to watching. I wanted to see Schneider get his one year sober chip again, and watch him grow with Avery by his side. I was waiting for Lydia to let Dr. Berkowitz in, I know she eventually would. Alex growing up, having a girlfriend, the relationships between Elena and Syd and Penelope and Max growing, these are the things that I wanted to see. Not some tweet that says how difficult it has been for them to decide to cancel this amazing show.
I was looking forward to everything you just said. Also, I really wanted to see Lydia back in Cuba. And honestly, I was even dreaming with a spin-off of Elena going off to college.

BDWJ1989 i know I’m really late to reply but the problem is that they barely have one day at a time advertisements and stuff they weren’t trying to make it popular so it didn’t become popular (at least for the most part)
Every episode is perfection and the cast and production team are equally amazing. But the season 2 finale “Not Yet” where the family talks to Lydia in the hospital after her stroke gets me every time. Can’t believe such a brilliant show won’t be renewed for a 4th season but yet Netflix decides to spend a 100 Million just to keep the rights to “Friends” and adds shows and movies no one has heard of/cares to see.
I don't get people complaining about newer shows and sitcoms "getting political", or "shoving social issues in our face" or whatever. That has ALWAYS happened! I remember the "In a special episode"... trend of the 80's and early 90's for sitcoms... They all did it, drugs, teen pregnancy, sexual assault/harassment, racism, etc. Even earlier shows such as Archie Bunker, The Jeffersons, Maude, The Mary Tyler Moore Show?... Tackling controversial issues, with a sprinkling of humor, is not a new concept.
I really loved the way they shot the anxiety attack sequences... Making it suddenly go to black and white, to show the shift in Penelope's emotions/thoughts... Very well done.
I'm so heartbroken. After rewatching it I realise that I need to see what happens to everybody. What happens to Elena and Syd. Schneider and his gf. It's really sad.
Loved all these but my absolute favourite episode is the season 2 finale "Not Yet". It is honestly the best episode of a television show I've ever seen and has me in every single one of my feels. Penelope's 6-minute monologue to Lydia? 6 minutes of me crying my eyes out. There is no show like One Day At A Time and Netflix made the worst mistake by cancelling it.
one of my favorites episodes is the one when Lydia had a stroke. When everyone started talking to her really made my cry, but the saddest moment was when Penelope talks to her, showing anger but then saying that she wanted Lydia to argue with her again, and also Berto and Lydia's conversation and when she says that it's not the time, I cryed a lot with this episode.
The episode "Hello, Penelope" shows depression better than 13 Reasons Why. And this is coming from someone who not only has depression but also studies psychology

Literally every episode they have has taught me a lesson. Every episode made me laugh and tear up. Netflix shouldn't have cancelled the show...it was honestly the perfect type of show.
I started watching the show 2 months ago and "Not yet" made me cry a lot, especially Elena's bedside speech because I lost my abuelita 6 months ago and I didn't even get to say goodbye because the people at the hospital wouldn't let me visit her and she passed while I was at school.
"Drinking and Driving" and "Hello Penelope" were definitely my number one episodes. I can't chose between those 2. Those 2 episodes were extremely emotional for me. They made me cry so much.
#6 definitely made me cry again in like 5 seconds i remembered that episode so clearly and I cried during it and I don't think I'll ever stop crying when I see it because it really hits home. Elena is a badass and I love her and wish I had her courage.
Can't believe y'all didn't include the one where they're at the wedding at the end of season 3 and there's a lot of character growth, that was a really good one. Admittedly all of the episodes of this show are good and you can't include all of them here but that one in particular hit hard.
That should have been at least number 5, the episodes they ranked were great but it doesn't sit right right with me. Hello, Penelope was just an honorable mentions and Not Yet wasn't even brought up, they missed their chance to include the best episodes of the series.

I also have a few friends that have anxiety and depression and I was never sure how to help because I wasn’t sure what was happening. The anxiety and depression episodes gave me a wonderful visual of what it’s like and helped me help my friends
