- DIY | How to make a soft and thin handmade paper - PAPER MAKING
Handmade papers are usually thick and stiff but today I'll share with you how I made my own soft and thin recycled paper that you can actually fold without breaking.

Hello again! Glad you're back! :)
I've received so many comments with my first paper making video and those comments gave me an idea to make another DIY video but this time I'll try to make the paper sheets thin and soft.
I did my research on how to make a soft and thin paper and I found a blog and it was mentioned that you need to add a binder and the one they used is cornstarch. Although they didn't say that it would make the paper soft. I just have to give it a try since I'm a person who likes trying things. Link of blog below.
NOTE:
1. NO BLENDER? - soak scrap papers in water for at least 4 hrs. to 1 day then pound or play with it until paper disintegrates.
2. It's nice to have a mould and deckle but if not available you can use a strainer like what I'm using that I bought online. I'm sure it's also available in amazon.
3. Use sponge for absorbing excess water, I tried but doesn't work for me though. No paper towel? you can use fabric that is absorbent.
4. Air dry the paper but if you are in hurry like me you can iron it in low heat setting.
5. The amount of water and pulp slurry combined dictates how thin or thick you paper is. You can experiment on this. If you watched my video until the end you will see that when I scoop my hands in the water it's as if there is no pulp added. But here's my measurement:
3600 ml of water + two 1/4 cups of slurry (not pure slurry though, contains water that I added when I blend it)
I keep adding one 1/4 cup of slurry every after I make a new paper sheet.
I'm satisfied with the result of my recycled paper. The papers turned out thin and soft. Adding cornstarch made it a bit thicker but the papers remained soft. Will I add cornstarch again when I make another handmade paper? Probably not, I like the texture and thickness of the paper without cornstarch better.
That's all! Hope you liked this video!
See you again next time!
Keep safe and healthy!

Wow!!! This is crazy!!! Your paper is thr softest and smoothest so far compared to other handmade paper video
Ooh, this one's the best diy paper I've seen so far. Thanks for this!! I like the soft and thin paper you made ❤️
Yes
Love your crafty recycled papers. So pretty. ❤
Thank you! 😊
Great demo❣️👍😍
Nice project. I have a large bin of papers ready to begin…..🤗🤗🤗🥰
Thanks for the cornstarch tip. I'll pass my tip along. I press the paper on my windows so the paper is smoother in texture. I also use an ink roller to smooth it out after it's on there so both sides are smooth.
I was wondering how to make the paper smooth. I just received a mould & deckle for my birthday so I’m very keen to make my first batch of paper, but I want it to be smooth & thin but strong. Thanks for the tip
The cornstarch thing was clever
That was a great video! I admit it was fast, so I slowed the speed down to get every important tip you gave. Blessings!
Just realized how cool chat gpt really is because without it i would have never found this video.all the videos that came up when i searched were showing me construction paper I couldn’t write on then I asked gpt to look or a video that teaches how to make paper I can write on and it found this.
Good idea
Very nice.
Creative yun mga vedio mo..
salamat kuya.. God bless..
Hi..lovely video👍👍.. But please tell that how much water to be added while blending and while soaking??
I just made sure the papers are covered... but when you blend add a bit more to help blender break the paper..
Thanks a lot...
I have cut the paper and was just waiting for your reply to move forward in my paper making DIY 💖
Thanks will try this out today's ig ☺️
Wow...its amazing 💝
Omg... Amazing,Dear you are using waste papers, this is awesome..3 R's, excellent.. This is called Trash to Treasure,Superb✌👌
Thank you so much 😀
@@MOMDOESDIY one day i will also try this.. This Is so cool 😍interesting.
1:29 please tell me why the paper is still intact and don't break off
Great
Nice video!
Can i use water colour papers? Will it be too thick?
I believe you can, but I guess you'll need a lot of watercolor to reach the desired color, as the color will fade as the paper dries..also The hue has no bearing on the thickness..
Your comments go to fast for me to read.. I just need to know if the cornstarch helps to make it easy to fold with less cracking.
It did. I played it back a few times. The paper with the cornstarch was a bit thicker but a lot stronger. The UA-camr stated that both worked well.
How do you make this
It's good work, but so much sppeed sister, then what u mix it I can't able to understand and read. Your video length very short, y maximum 10min better to understand people, it will help u r views and time also increase 👍 okay slowly teach means do much help for us thank u for u r dedication ❤️
To anyone watching this in 2023... You can slow down the video by tapping on the video, clicking the gear icon, and changing playback speed from "Normal" to whatever you want. Cool video!
It is the same process like the last video . How is it thinner this time ?????
please explain again and with your voice not the subtitles please for me make it easier I am just 10 years old . Please atleast for me please I think it will even help other people like me just make it easier and I still did not understand how is it softer please make a video for me regarding this
the stock (pulp+water ratio) determines the gsm of the paper. or, how thin and thick it could be. more water in the pulp stock, thinner the paper.
I didn't undertand how her wet paper bots didn't break off when fell
Ah,i could blend all my not notebooks and write thank you letter to the teachers😂😅
🤣🤣🤣
