I wanna make recycle paper.. but I'm afraid that my mom will be angry:") because I use blender for paper:") and I found your video with "no blender" so I can make it:)
Love your method of hanging the paper to dry. This summer my granddaughter and I will try this method together. Thank you for your video and sharing your talents. Cathy💐
I love creating with my grandkids, too! Although they're all older teens now. It's harder to get them engaged.🙄 lol What I love about doing this method with the kids is teaching them to create without modern machinery or "electronics". I want them to know they can accomplish so much just relying on themselves and their own two hands.💗💗💗
I make my own paper for watercolour painting and sketching, I put my torn paper and water in a large saucepan bring it to a boil and then simmer it until it disintegrates into fine pulp, so much easier and quieter. You could probably leave it overnight in a slow cooker as well.
@@christiemantle-jones9435 if boiling it on the stovetop just use a big pot and cover with water an inch or 2 above the paper. Paper will absorb the water so keep an eye on it and add as needed. In the slow cooker, do the same thing.
It worked!!! At first I was a lil' bit hesitant to ask my mum but when I did.. She was completely ok Cz she always believed that we will always remember these things we do in our childhood
I also reccomend taking a jar and put some rocks in there. Put the soaked paper in there, close the jar, and just shake it. The rocks will grind the paper into palp. If needed, you could manually pound the palp after for finer pieces.
Oh yeah, it could work as well, I'm gonna try making handmade papers for the first time in my life! I'll try this as well as I'll have to grind the paper, and make the pulp myself, not using the grinder, cuz my mom won't let me do that!
@@n1nj4l1nk I used a plastic jar when i did this, it was one of those small containers that had like jelly candy in em. Also typical glass mason jars are not that fragile, a couple jumbling rocks and paper gunk isn’t going to shatter it

Love the whole effect and the texture and the thinness. Lovely process too. I don't know where I'd get bamboo cloth from . Might try old cotton sheets instead though. Thanks so much, B
I just came across your channel this morning. Lucky me. I love hand made paper and have always wanted to make some. The indoor method without a blender is perfect for me as I have limited space. And having another use for my mortar and pestle is a bonus. Thank you so much.😊
Beau travail créatif. Moi j'utilise un mixeur qui n'est pas électrique où l'on tire sur une ficelle pour faire ressort et actionner les lames, normalement utilisé pour la salade, couper les oignons ou tomates.
I think they turned out beautifully!😍 Then again... I really love all things rustic & "natural", or organic, in appearance & texture. This method seems very satisfying. Thank you so much for sharing.💗
Thnx a lot i just made them and it turned out well. But the only problem i had was i couldn't transfer them into the cloth (maybe it's because i used a frame made out of cross stitch cloth instead of an actual frame and i used a tissue to remove the excess water.) I let it dry on the frame and it came out pretty easily. 😁 oh also i used a hammer to grind them. So if you're going to try that use whatever you have you don't need special tools for that. 🙂
Try dampening your cotton sheet (felts) before you lay your paper so it doesn’t soak up the fibres so much. Good job and it looks great considering your technique and brief. You could also press the papers heavily using clamps to get a finer texture. Cheers.
Regarding what you mentioned about sizing in the description, I watched a video on how to make paper from cotton, and they used a cup of leaf gelatin, which they had purchased from a store. They also said they could have used a cup of starch in lieu of the gelatin. I'm guessing they meant corn starch. They had an about half a blender full of pulp, so you'd use less starch or gelatin depending on the amount of pulp you were making, of course. Anyway, using gelatin or starch would be easier and safer (IMO) than having to get some weird chemical with a long name. Lol
Thanks for this info!🧡 Others might fi d this useful if they don't have access to sizing. I've been experimenting with CMC, it's actually food grade - similar to gelatin and is added to most food so it's also safe for consumption. 🤗
oh yas! Summer in oz can be so dry! I remember that one heatwave when i was still living there. 🤣 my fave season in oz, specifically in vic, is spring. 🤩
Here’s an idea: 1. Use her technique for making the paper up to removing the deckle. 2. Carefully place flower bits and glitter stars around the border. 3. Use the sponge as she did and peal off paper onto parchment baking sheet so you get a flat surface. 4. Dry flat on parchment outside in sunny spot. 5. Once dry, paint with one part glue and two parts water then lay an outer unprinted ply of a napkin inside the border. Now print each sheet with a wedding invitation using inkjet printer.
Thank you for making and sharing this video, it is very useful to see a way to be able to make the paper without having to use a blender. The sheets you made are so pretty and the gold leaf is a lovely addition. Do you dry your own flowers too?😊
I love your videos and your calm voice. I have a question about dried flowers and leaves. Is it necessary to have the flower petals dried? Since they are placed in the water/pulp mixture, I'm wondering if fresh flower petals would work also, or if you have found a problem with using fresh flowers. Thanks so much for your lovely instruction!
Once you make the paper, how do u use it in a journal ? Do u glue it to a page ? Or is it strong enough to be sewn into a journal as a page ? I have made some paper before with a few leaves or flower pedals. But I LOVE the gold foil !! Thank you for sharing
I just found your video, so I hope you see my comment. I was wondering if you fold the paper after it's dry, does it crack? I love your process and they turned out great! Thanks.
Love it!!! I've made this before. But when I used leaves and flowers, they tend spread yellows when dried. Any tips in this? It's been frustrating for me to accomplish perfect ones😔
I noticed this happens for some types of leaves/flowers for me too. But not all, just a select few. Maybe you can take note which plants do this and avoid using them in the future
Would adding the extras directly on the pulp that is already on the screen work? I think one will have better control on where and how much on each sheet of paper.
Wow , absolutely enjoyed your process dear. Hehehe love how that tiny bug on your desk got its couple minutes of fame 😂 thanks so much for sharing. Btw your ceiling mouldings are stunning. I like like 😍😅
Hello! I was wondering if you had special ways to clean all the tools and the bowl after you're done? I try my best to clean without the pulp going into the sink but it still clogged my sink :( if you have tips, that'll be great!
I use the strainer before pouring the water in the toilet (not the sink). All excess pulp that gets strained goes into a jar that I keep outside under the sun, so I can easily reuse it later on. :)

I have so much paper laying around because of school, i think cutting the squares in a flat sheet of paper and funnel it in the jar is easier

Have you ever tried drying the paper on parchment paper? Just regular parchment paper that is used for baking, or even freezer paper?
Excellent video! Very helpful! I haven’t made paper for many years. 😃
i recommend leaving your paper to soak for around 3-5 days, it will be easier to pound and i feel like it might help it be finer!
depending on the paper, leaving it to soak that long can cause it to stink.
