I’ve had my snow dog for 3 years now it does have it’s limitations but like you said I mostly go by myself and gets me and all my gear out there I’m 70 years old so it makes it easier to go out to different places on any lake I would buy another in a heartbeat
I have owned snow dogs before but have moved to the yamaha bravo snowmobile. A lot simular to the snow dog, light, super simple engine same 18hp, not $15000 lol but it doesn't have reverse. My biggest complaint with the snow dog apart from engine troubles is it tips over alot when you are on a trail going into a lake, dont have that issue on small snowmobiles. Can relate to the slush story! got stuck for 6 hours on my lake with the snow dog that part aint good either. Great video as always!
Hi Josh, I just got a snowdog in after watching a ton of your videos. I am from NH too, do you have to register the snowdog? I went and talked with a local ohrv guy and had never heard of them and called someone and they said I have to register as a snowmobile. which he said he needs a VIN number. mine didn't really come with any paperwork other than a user manual. I don't see any Vin number but found a serial number. do you happen to have any info you can share about this?
Mine came with a "manufacturing certificate of origin" and I registered it as a snowmobile with the serial number. If you have a bill of sale that's all you need
I still have the 7hp compact and love it. Pulled out myself and 2 others along with all the gear many times. Amazing the amount of power they have. Only thing I had to change out was all of the bolts that held the cover on rusted. Switched them all to stainless steel.
I’m on year two with my snow dog, still very happy. There was a large learning curve in the beginning. My choke cable will freeze up on a long cold trip to the lake, I now close the choke the night before for an easier startup. I also have ripped two rear mud flaps off, I will just go without from now on. I pull an otter cabin flip over with no issues. I need to upgrade my light.
Mine seems to flood alot when on trailer, when I get to a location, 8-9/10 times. And hydro locks. So you goto pull the cord tell the engine gets passed TDC. Then start it and let all the gas come out the exhaust and hope it dosnt go up in flames but after a little of idling the gas drys and seems to run fine
I absolutely love mine.....i have literally towed 4 people with 2 flip overs and tons of gear in another sled on camping trips with mine.....only problem i have ran i to is fowling plugs so i carry a spark plug cleaning kit with ne and 3 spare plugs just to be safe
Love mine too. Had me, all my gear, my buddy and his gear in 4 sleds. Didn't even feel like the snowdog knew it was pulling us. Had my first issue this weekend. I forgot to check my file level before heading out. Got a couple hundred yards from shore and it stalled. Realized it was out of gas and filled it up from my Jerry can. Tried for an hour to get it going. Pulled the plug. Wasn't flooded. Checked everything I could. Ended up putting some fuel down the carb. Fired up 2nd pull.
I love mine. Especially each time i dont have to walk out on early ice and can still hit my favorite spots. I store mine in the sled with a 2' by 40" moving dolly underneath it. So i only lose 2 ft by 5 ft of floor space in my garage. With the dolly i can move out of my way as needed really easily. I want to get the reverse kit for mine. On the lake i dont feel like id use reverse much. When i take it out on cutlines to check trail cameras over the winter it really sucks turning around on tihht trails. One thing is that snowdog says engaging the parking break. As well as check your throttle before starting. I think far too many guys just hop on and start it without doing this. Also lubricating the cables and sleeves is must. Some of the take off issues are from the cables getting moisture in them and freezing up. Great video though!
2:30 oof I always thought these were cool and definitely have a niche but russian made???...you lost me there friend :/ 4:45 yeah defiantly sounds russian made. (Occasionally kills operator) LOL

Perfect!
Thank you, Josh.
You bet!

My buddy has a bravo. He pulled our gear before I had the snowdog and it burning his belt up pretty bad.
@@BendItFishingI have two bravos and haven’t had that issue but burning belts isn’t good for sure

Good idea
One of my coworkers was just talking about getting one of these. I’ll send him this video
Awesome

Ditto with that dang mud flap!! Just trim a few inches off and no problems

You have to shut the gas off before transporting!!!!! It's on the right side by the choke

Haven't heard about them fouling plugs. Are you running the upgraded plug?
@BendItFishing when it is super cold out they run crazy rich is did upgrade my plug haven't had an issue since
@@benjaminfisher9121 which plug did you go with?
@charleslefebvre5515 i went with the E3.34 powersport it runs way hotter and cleans carbon build up good even though I run ethanol free fuel
How do you mount your Eskimo rod locker? I’ve seen on other videos it looks like you added a couple of clips?
I have a video about it soon! But I took the tubes out and put some angle aluminum, bought some clips and bolts and put it together
@ you’re awesome, thanks a ton!
@Shownarou welcome

That’s a great way to store it! Also at full throttle which mine was stuck in the parking brake isn't strong enough
Great video. The only thing I have issues with is the reverse cable got moisture in it and froze up. WD40 is the fix

Haha, it's has some quirks!
You had to wait for a groomer to get you unstuck on a snowmobile? Talk about low effort snowmobiling. 🤣
Deep snow drift vs scawny kid at the time haha
