Another trick to get it started is to grab the bumper and rock the jeep forwards and backwards a few times. Worked to get mine restarted tonight when my starter crapped out. About to go replace it now, thanks for the video!
Nice video. My 95 Wrangler wouldn't start last night and replaced the battery and then the starter started to click. Then the starter didn't make any noise at all. I'm going to check the wires first then do the hammer tip. Thanks

It works because hitting the starter dislodges dust build up that has gathered in the starter. Or so I have been told.
