It’s a double edged sword for sure, but the instructor is all the difference. My instructor prefers e learning because of the reports he gets afterwards. He can see the amount of time it took for each chapter etc. He’s also available by phone anytime, and likes to do random pop-quizzes, he’ll also expand on things not covered in the materials. An example would be the 02 pressure if you’re using a nasal canula. The materials only tell you 10-15 L per minute…you’ll blow someone’s brains out forcing that through a canula
Thanks for another great video… another timely topic as well. I agree that eLearning is the way to go. But I do understand that everyone learns differently. I’d like to see the agencies incorporate some sort of video conferencing with instructors in the future. This way you can get those questions answered earlier. Just a thought!
I think it depends on the course. OW and AOW and Rescue, definitely in person. Nitrox should be no brainer as an online. Maybe some of the other knowledge based specialties, like Fish Identification, too . And then there’s a mix. Obviously having the book for DM (which I’m doing right now ) is a must but being able to do the dive theory portion online would be great.
All good thoughts! I've done all my dive theory online (I've taken it 3 times now for each level of dive pro) and do okay but I think I would definitely do best with a mix of online and classroom for more guided practice. At least for the higher level education.

That's a great idea!

I just did Try Scuba since May and I’m gonna do E learning before Pool dives and ocean dives
Why not buy the books, but do the elearning? I’m the kind of person that I want to have some material to reference later.
You could do that if you can find a place to buy the book without the class with it!
