    I had the same problem. Replaced coolant sensor, thermostat and finally the ambient air temperature sensor behind the front grill. Only $7. Fixed the fans staying on no a/c and flat line temp gauge issues

      You replace the sensor to fix the temp gauge in the cluster or if you have a CEL code. I dont know why you replace ambient temp sensor, it has nothing to do with the radiator fan.

    On these type of trucks the thermostat will go bad and then it causes the temp sensor to go bad. That is why the fans kick on as soon as you start the car. If it were just the thermostat (even if stuck open) the high fan would not cone on. The high fan is controlled by the thermostat temp sensor. If the sensor is working right and the thermostat is stuck open the high fan won't come on until the engine begins to overheat. When you are driving in cold weather your engine may never get hot enough to engage the high fans because all of that cold air passing through the fins of the radiator. Throwing parts at a car instead of taking the necessary time to accurately diagnose the problem can and likely will cost you more money and aggravation than doing it the right way.

    If you let the engine cool down you can then remove any pressure that's left over by removing either the radiator cap or the coolant system reservoir cap whichever application your vehicle has. When you get a burnt light was on that video you run the risk of contaminating electrical connectors and or causing a short on other electrical items.

    • @michaelrehkop4817
      @michaelrehkop4817 3 роки тому

      Accept he was wrong. The problem was both the thermostat and the temp sensor. Thermostat went bad which cause the engine to overheat one too many times period as a result the temperature thermostat sensor went bad thereby causing the high fan to always take on as soon as you turn the car on. If it were just a thermostat the high man would not turn on until the engine got too hot. It is the temperature sensor that controls that high fan. FWIW, yes the temp sensor wiring harness is connected to AC compressor and defroster. That's WHY THE HIGH fan kicks on when you turn on the defrost or a/c.

Went up to right temperature fan stayed off. Turned off truck fan stayed off too. Took the truck for a drive, no overheating issues either.

    What if you replaced the bad sensor, the fan no longer blew hard, the gauge went past 160,you drove it for a month with no problems, but suddenly it started again? What could be the issue?

    • @Ah_Duuu_Ma
      @Ah_Duuu_Ma  2 місяці тому +1

      If the fan stays on when car is off, its a bad thermostat. Replace it and clear check engine light. This fan has 2 speeds, low speed and high speed. Low speed on idle and high speed when the car hit temp or with ac on. Either mode doesnt work, check the fan relay, replace the fan if needed. If the coolant temp gauge doesnt work properly, replace the coolant temp sensor with oem sensor. If you replace it with oem sensor and still have same problem, either computer is bad or cluster is bad (wiring issue).

    i have a 2015 silverado with the V6 and i'm driving the other day and glance down at the temp gauge and the thing is pegged all the way to hot so i kinda freaked and had a mile to go so when i got home i popped the hood and nothing seemed wrong or over heated but the fans were not running and i had no idea the thing had electric fans i thought it ran off a belt like the old days, that's how out of touch i am with cars. so i let the thing cool off for a few hours and ran it again at idle for 30 minutes and nothing happened with the temp gauge, no check engine light and no message on the dic however the fans would only come on for 30 seconds and then shut off , the outside air temp was 30F. i brought the truck to the local garage whom i trust and they found nothing wrong and to keep an eye on it but i hope the thing doesn't leave me flat some day.

    • @before120
      @before120 2 роки тому

      A fan pulls the atmospheric air in that's why in the heat of summer, in traffic jams you will see cars overheating. You have to have atmospheric air for the motor to turn. Air, water, and fuel.

      Check if the thermostat connector, make sure the wires are good no damage (check for power and ground, if you know how). Check for any leak if coolant is not enough, both upper and lower hoses are evenly hot, thats mean the thermostat is opening. If the coolant system is not completely bleed, air still trap in the system. Maybe radiator could be clogged. "Key On Engine Off" pull the fans fuses for it to reset, and clear the code before restarting engine (even if theres no code showing).

      @LackLusterMedia Changing the ECT censor won't do the work itself, change it twice, and it didn't fix the problem. You have to replace the thermostat and clear the code. Make sure to use the OEM part. There are inexpensive

      Check the both fans fuses and wires for broken / damaged and check the connectors for loose connection, pins damaged or corrosion (poor connection). Check if there's power at the connectors (if you know how) or the fan itself is bad. Try to pull the fuses to see if the fans reset itself.
