      The single engine is really impressive. The vtwin is really cool, but the cost of owning dual engine aircraft is obscene, I already went through it. The only one I would own right bow is a Beechcraft Baron P. (If I could afford to own one). I love that plane. Ive always wanted a pressurized cockpit for high altitude cruising.
      But....
      My wife wants a Velocity Vtwin, so it may not be up to me

      @@stonehorn4641 it’s funny you say that about twin engine aircraft and the Baron. It is also one of my favorite twin engine small planes of all time. Imo It is one of the few elite in the light twin engine class of aircraft. I do believe the King air is one of the best twin engine in the turboprop class as well. My fav king air is the C90 and my fav Baron is the B58.

    I remember a Rutan designed VariEze canard tandem two seater of the 1970's. I knew of one owner at New Haven back in the day. We both worked at Yale. It was a tricycle gear; two fixed with hand crank retracting nose. I recall his retracting the nose gear to set the nose down on the ground when parked. This is a much lager plane but I loved the canard design then and love it now.

    You sure 3 blades don't have enough force at altitude or is it more likely that the blades need to be shorter so you don't have a prop strike every time you take off/land

    • @wadesaxton6079

      This, longer blades are more efficient at altitude. They’re limited on prop diameter so one more blade is needed for the 300hp.

    if you know if this Velocity is made by the same people as the Canard? Both are very similar to my eye but I'm no expert. If you
    know, please drop that info here & thanks for the video. peace

    This is a kit airplane, right? Is it possible to build it as a pressurized plane? If so, is it possible to tell approximately how much more time / money would need to go into the necessary modifications? Thanks!

    • @gbigsangle3044
      @gbigsangle3044 3 роки тому +1

      A pressurized plane has to be designed from scratch. It is a VERY complex thing. There are pressurized kit planes, like the Lancair IVP and the Evolution aircraft. Most pressurized planes are turbo-props. One, Piper M500 is the sole piston single that is pressurized, it is not a kit.

    • @axeletzold9406
      @axeletzold9406 3 роки тому

      @@gbigsangle3044 Thank you for your response! I already assumed that pressurization is a very complex requirement. But then, it is nice to have :)
      Here in Germany, there is a politician with yet unfulfilled ambitions to become chancellor, who identifies as from the "upper-middle class" income strata. Media say that he owns and flies two planes, one of them a Diamond DA 62, which he is presumed to have bought new (at around 1.2 million dollars). Now, that plane is not a kit and does not have pressurization.
      If you do get invited to fly in such a plane as a passenger, and it rises very high, you'll need to have oxygen tubes put in your nose. That's somewhat off-putting to people who otherwise travel in large planes built by Airbus or Boeing ....

    • @gbigsangle3044
      @gbigsangle3044 3 роки тому

      @@axeletzold9406 Sure pressurization is better but it comes at a weight and development cost that the piston market won't pay for...that is why you only see it in the turbo-prop and jet markets. I fly a Cirrus SR22T and when I fly above 12,500 I wear a boom cannula. The plane has built-in oxygen supply that lasts for up to 80 hours flying time...so the burden is not that great to fly higher. Most of the time GA planes are flying at or below 12,500 btw.
