Saltburn defender here. Look, is it a perfect “movie”? No. But it was a fun time and like you said “the vibes were awesome” and that’s all that matters.
Thank you for understanding my love of “The social network” truthfully I have NEVER gotten over it & nobody understands or can relate to my passion over how incredible the dialogue is in that movie.
when you said you prefer to spend time watching movies than scrolling on your phone i immediately clicked off this video and watched a film. and i think thats what content is about
carley your timing is amazing, I've been searching for so long to find a perfect video to do my laundry to and here you are uploading this hour and a half video for me
The best yorgos lanthimos film is the favourite. I’m begging you to watch it if you haven’t already because it is fantastic. Olivia Colman is unsurprisingly a star I was floored by her performance
Okay, not only is Sing Sing PHENOMENAL but Clarence Maclin is actually playing himself! Outside of Colman Domingo, almost all of the incarcerated men in the movie were actually formerly incarcerated at Sing Sing. I went down a rabbit hole after seeing it and it just made everything that much more impressive for me.
the pride and prejudice movie is honestly almost better than the book to me,,, like that hand hold zoom and mr darcy’s confession lives in my head rent free. also holding space for the soundtrack
per The Iron Claw: there was actually *another* brother who also died but they didn’t write him into the film because they thought it would be too many deaths and make the tragedy unbelievable
If you liked May December, the Director Todd Haynes' Thesis film "Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story" is an amazing watch. There's only bootleg copies you can watch on youtube or archive of our own due to using the Carpenter's music without the rights, but the way he juxtaposes the Carpenter's music to Karen's struggles with anorexia is phenomenal work. As well as using Barbie dolls and stop motion for the actors. Probably still one of his best works to date.
Honestly, I started watching anime for the first time this year and "Princess Mononoke" is so far my favorite. But most of my year (maybe two - three months) has been taken up with 17 seasons of "Criminal Minds" which i successfully watched and need another season like RN
I hate the idea of making suggestions to others, cause watch what you want, but the BBC miniseries version of Pride and Prejudice staring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth will always be one of the best things I have ever watched.
Everyone says the Hex girls were their queer awakening, but I was always in love with Crystal from Alien Invaders. Started my taste in hippie girls. Groovy 🕊☮️✌️
yess i love going to the cinema so much, it's such a fun experience from getting hyped up to go with friends, buying snacks, making fun of the ads and looking at the trailers !! i hate that streaming is killing it :(
I was obsessed with Saltburn! I had a birthday party with bath water themed drinks, made all my friends watch it, dressed up like Felix. And honestly I wouldn’t say the movie was good, but it’s important to me 😭

Haha that feeling of discovering you have a thing in common with a public figure and your nobody mind tells you you'r best friends now, but the thing is Wellbutrin .
This video single-handedly made me revive my Letterboxd just to add some of these movies to my watchlist. I watched the whole dang video, thank you for making it!!
Clerks would go on to do an animated TV series and with every animated TV series they have a clips show episode but Clerks has it as their very second episode so it's just a clip show of the pilot which is wild and something I think Carley you would love.
I’m at 80 for the year and it’ll all about how much time you’re willing to devote to it! Going to the movies with friends is so so fun so I do that once a week and I watch a movie with my girlfriend every weekend. It’s a really fun hobby and so glad you mentioned some fun ways that it can be affordable while supporting local cinemas!
YESSSS IM SO HAPPY YOU LIKED WE LIVE IN TIME. its my new favorite movie ive seen it twice in theaters and sobbed both times. also so funny you wanted to stab andrew garfields character when the whole time i wanted to shake florence pughs character LMAO
Was i looking for a five minute video while i was doing my nails ? Yes. Did i sit down and immediately click on this ? Also yes. (Sidenote i heard the podcast ep you said you wanted to watch 100 today so in my mind you accomplished this today, congratulations)
I watched this entire video while crocheting (which it was perfect for) and absolutely loved seeing how your movie opinions compared to my own. It's kind of funny that I already knew so many of your thoughts from being a loyal follower of your channel, podcast and Letterboxd 😂 Also, I'm a Colin Firth girlie through and through, so I'm not typically that obsessed with Hugh Grant in romcoms, but I 100% agree with what you said about him in Four Weddings and a Funeral. I've never seen such shiny, voluminous hair on a man.
If you like watching old people after they retire, you should watch the documentary Some Kind of Heaven on The Villages in Florida which is a dedicated retirement community. Some wild things happen in The Villages.
You don’t have to take this recommendation seriously because @25:00 being uninterested in superhero fare is completely valid. But, if you ever find yourself with spare time I’d try Agatha All Along on Disney+. Its barely a superhero show its very witch flavour obviously. An iconic line up of divas (Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, Patti Lupone, Sasheer Zamata and more) acting their asses off, even if you only make it to episode 7 its soooo worth it and they’re short ass episodes. 100% recommend, even to non MCU people.
I highly recommend reading the Dune saga. It's much more focused on things like ecology, psychology, human ingenuity, and the influence of religion on an empire. Super fantastic series!!
for the record, i also love nuanced stuff about the patriarchy having negative impacts on men, because i'm gay, and being rejected by masculinity is a really rough and isolating experience that i don't see unpacked often in a genuine and heartfelt way
Truly hearing skinny love in the year of our lord 2024 was a jump scare I could never have been prepared for. Me and my friend were alone in a theater and actually cried laughing
I listened to it the first time like a week ago because someone told me the vocals reminded them of my favorite band and hearing that it was in It Ends With Us honestly alarms me lol
also, ghostbusters frozen empire did do something i was very impressed by: even though the movie never explicitly said the girl and the ghost were lesbians, even my dad thought they were gay. my dad is amazingly unaware of queer subtext in every bit of media (he didn't even know that Hot Fuzz was obviously gay. that tells you everything.), so i guess it won that one.
I almost died watching Belushi with the mustard jar in Animal House. After that scene everyone in the theater ( I think that it was the Ziegfeld in Manhattan) turned to ask if he had said anything in the movie so far. We're the Millers is very funny too but maybe less funny than Up in Smoke. And of course there's the Money Pit, which brings us to Tom Hanks. You've Got Mail always gets me at the end, as does Rene Russo crying on the plane in the reboot of The Thomas Crowne Affair. Thank you very much. It was a great pleasure hearing about your year at the movies. Oh, and I really really like City of Angels.
I think the moral of that story os that when your the expert on somehting you should talk and other should listen The issue isnt men trying to teach women things, its men trying to teach women things *they already know about equally or better than the man trying to teach.* Its a belittling assumption that you know more than someone about any given subject ~ but if someone says "i dont interact w/ x" and someone else says "well im kinda a professional in X, let me help you out" thats just, someone being nice/teaching/sharing their knowldge
Have I watched 100 movies this year? No. Have I heard of every movie that is mentioned in this review? No. Am I going to sit for an hour and listen to Carley talk about all 100 movies? Yes, yes I am.
You referencing the Documentary Now parody of Original Cast Album: Company is making me feel so seen. I sing “at the co-op” all the time and quite literally no one around me knows the reference and it’s too niche to not sound ridiculous trying to explain it
Yayyy! We finally get a year of movies review from Carley! I know you said you dont use your tictok but i made a short video of you and blair on the podcast talking about when the factory workers protested for gay rights. Love yall together. Happy new year Carly to you and you family. Stay safe and i hope your Christmas is magical! 🫶💙🫶

"i feel like nobody is here anymore because this video is 9 hrs long" GIRL THIS VIDEO COULD BE 9 HRS LONG AND I'D STILL WATCH IT TO THE END!! thank u for blessing us today queen
Ikr!! I could listen to my girls on UA-cam yap endlessly. Like I'm actually dying for long form videos that's just girlies giving their opinions
Took a shot every time Carley said a movie was one of her 'favorites of the year' and now I need medical attention (love you Carley)
When you are back from the hospital, let’s have a round two with a shot for every time Carley says the word "FANtastic"
(also love you carley)
Saltburn defender here. Look, is it a perfect “movie”? No. But it was a fun time and like you said “the vibes were awesome” and that’s all that matters.
And it has my favourite weirdo Ewan Mitchell, even if he's in it like, five minutes 😂
LITERALLY like sorry i love the vibes and was engaged in the plot
Literally how can you NOT be engaged when someone’s literally sucking a bathtub and dancing around naked it’s so unhinged you have to respect it
Do you know what the date/time stamp was for the Saltburn bit in the video, sorry? Thanks. Your videos are always so brill too btw. ❤👍
salt urn is one of the first things she speaks of
i really wanna see an snl lore video from carley 1:07:56
Ooh yes please this would be so fun
I was just about to start cleaning my room what perfect timing for a Carly upload
yesss
omfg the idea of you review is definitely one of the funniest ones i’ve seen on letterboxd this year
your reivew of The Idea of You lives rent free in my head , it truly shifted our culture
Thank you for understanding my love of “The social network” truthfully I have NEVER gotten over it & nobody understands or can relate to my passion over how incredible the dialogue is in that movie.
naurrrr girl, i need a breakdown of the beach boys from you so badly though
Every time you said fantastic I really felt it in my bones and in my heart
miss carly can talk about the fallen leaves outside her window and make an hour long video about it and YOU KNOW i am gonna be there with my popcorn
when you said you prefer to spend time watching movies than scrolling on your phone i immediately clicked off this video and watched a film. and i think thats what content is about
carley your timing is amazing, I've been searching for so long to find a perfect video to do my laundry to and here you are uploading this hour and a half video for me
yesss so happy to be your laundry video
She released this right before I had to pack and clean my apartment before going home for Christmas
The best yorgos lanthimos film is the favourite. I’m begging you to watch it if you haven’t already because it is fantastic. Olivia Colman is unsurprisingly a star I was floored by her performance
olivia colman is insane , she blew my mind in The Favorite , they should cast her more
yes!!!!

That's a bit funny cause the video I watched right before this was called Before You Watch Dandadan, and it talked about 100 shojo manga
I hate the idea of making suggestions to others, cause watch what you want, but the BBC miniseries version of Pride and Prejudice staring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth will always be one of the best things I have ever watched.

what a glorious birthday gift! i’m so ready for an hour and a half of carley

@ I haven’t, but I hear that Saltburn is heavily inspired by it! I’m gonna give it a watch soon. 🙂↕️
I found your channel this year, and it's been such a joy to watch through the content and to be here for the new stuff. Excellent stuff!

Haha that feeling of discovering you have a thing in common with a public figure and your nobody mind tells you you'r best friends now, but the thing is Wellbutrin .
saying “you wouldn’t do anything with them” while talking about puppets 😭
This video single-handedly made me revive my Letterboxd just to add some of these movies to my watchlist. I watched the whole dang video, thank you for making it!!
nobody understands the vibe as much as this unhinged canadian comedian
thank u kindly
Clerks would go on to do an animated TV series and with every animated TV series they have a clips show episode but Clerks has it as their very second episode so it's just a clip show of the pilot which is wild and something I think Carley you would love.
I highly recommend “Conclave,” “Drive Away Dolls” and “Your Monster.”
As a movie girlie, I’m so seated for this
Was i looking for a five minute video while i was doing my nails ?
It's kind of funny that I already knew so many of your thoughts from being a loyal follower of your channel, podcast and Letterboxd 😂
Also, I'm a Colin Firth girlie through and through, so I'm not typically that obsessed with Hugh Grant in romcoms, but I 100% agree with what you said about him in Four Weddings and a Funeral. I've never seen such shiny, voluminous hair on a man.
followed ur letterboxd reviews all year so this video was perfect for me
I definitely watched more uncarley videos this year than movies, I sat through and enjoyed this whole video!
Uncarley, our pop cultural connoisseur coming to us with table side chit-chat and gossip☺
always
@uncarley 🤗
carley always knows the exact christmas gift i need and we love her for that, if she has no fans I'm dead 😤😤😤
girl I could listen to you talk about dirt, as always love the video
please make this an annual thing this was so fun
I watched Monty Python’s “Holy Grail” right after reading Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Mists of Avalon and it was an absolute BLAST! Great video 🫶🏽
100% recommend, even to non MCU people.
set it up is SOOO GOOD. i agreed its so much better then anyone but you
Monty python is my favorite and the amount of people that tell me they hate it is astonishing
RIGHT THEY ROCK
i love that you keep saying "i made a movie about this one" instead of video about the movies you saw
right at the end of finals week? you ate✨
anything to help!
see you next year!! enjoy your holidays carley
I highly recommend reading the Dune saga. It's much more focused on things like ecology, psychology, human ingenuity, and the influence of religion on an empire. Super fantastic series!!
for the record, i also love nuanced stuff about the patriarchy having negative impacts on men, because i'm gay, and being rejected by masculinity is a really rough and isolating experience that i don't see unpacked often in a genuine and heartfelt way
You're gay and trans, which would make it double isolating as well.
Truly hearing skinny love in the year of our lord 2024 was a jump scare I could never have been prepared for. Me and my friend were alone in a theater and actually cried laughing
I listened to it the first time like a week ago because someone told me the vocals reminded them of my favorite band and hearing that it was in It Ends With Us honestly alarms me lol
watching carley talk about the comedy she likes has me DESPERATE for her to watch blazing saddles
I was thinking the same thing
I’ve had a rough evening-needed this ❤Poor Things really resonated with me and I’m glad you liked it!
king this is what i needed
this was GOOD. we LOVE long form carley
Kinda fascinated by you watching Paper Towns the same month TATWD came out but then waiting until October to watch that on a plane
can’t believe i was awake for this in this lifetime. thank you for this 🎉🎉
watching this stranded on the side of the road with only mixed nuts and new amsterdam to survive… thank u for being some small comfort
you need to do a media of the month video!! (books, movies,tv you saw that month)
Just finished your book wrap & know I’m gonna love this too!
GIRLLLL YOU WERE IN MADRID???? I literally live in Spain I hope you had a great time here! 💗💗💗
Am I going to watch an hour and a half of Carley talking about movies even though I hardly ever watch movies?
Yes. Yes I am.
Where's The Substance carlestie ?
Sending love and light tho 💕💕💕💕
also, ghostbusters frozen empire did do something i was very impressed by: even though the movie never explicitly said the girl and the ghost were lesbians, even my dad thought they were gay. my dad is amazingly unaware of queer subtext in every bit of media (he didn't even know that Hot Fuzz was obviously gay. that tells you everything.), so i guess it won that one.
LMAO the director for Matt and Mara is literally my directing teacher at Humber...
I have been fed yet agai. Thank you queen
I had to watch Monty python drunk with my family in laws having no idea what was happening for HOURS…. and I’m British so even more
humbling x❤
Aww, just a plain old UnCarley smile in the thumbnail. You look so happy with yourself. I don't know why, but that warned my heart haha
the butchering of auli’i cravalho’s name made me SCREAM
i didnt even realize she said it😭 i was waiting for carley to mention her as a positive of mean girls
@ RIGHT i had to do a double take 😭
wake up uncarley posted ❕❕
Ok birthday twin!!
I think the moral of that story os that when your the expert on somehting you should talk and other should listen
The issue isnt men trying to teach women things, its men trying to teach women things *they already know about equally or better than the man trying to teach.* Its a belittling assumption that you know more than someone about any given subject ~ but if someone says "i dont interact w/ x" and someone else says "well im kinda a professional in X, let me help you out" thats just, someone being nice/teaching/sharing their knowldge
here for the mic cutting out 🙌
Clerks 1 is a fun low budget film while Clerks 3 is all about coming to terms with the devistating reality that everyone you love will die
Have I watched 100 movies this year? No.
Have I heard of every movie that is mentioned in this review? No.
Am I going to sit for an hour and listen to Carley talk about all 100 movies? Yes, yes I am.
The way i manifested this video by independently searching up and following your letterboxd this morning
Ok this was genuinely really really interesting. Added a bunch to my to watch list & hope u make this an annual tradition also!!
“Made a movie about this” not once but twice, slay
As a gay man I can say that the Hex Girls invoked the same reaction in me as a kid
that's beautiful
I kept waiting for your review of I Saw The TV Glow 😭😭😭
less than two minutes in and ive already been accused of being millie bobby brown
I love you Carley! Watched the whole thing! And looking forward to more ridiculousness next year
I watched this entire video and then the MTV pro-shot of Legally Blonde the musical started autoplaying and that felt like true synergy
You referencing the Documentary Now parody of Original Cast Album: Company is making me feel so seen. I sing “at the co-op” all the time and quite literally no one around me knows the reference and it’s too niche to not sound ridiculous trying to explain it
Is that... The George Street diner? 😂😂😂 💯
Thank you for your services per usual!
of course
Yayyy! We finally get a year of movies review from Carley! I know you said you dont use your tictok but i made a short video of you and blair on the podcast talking about when the factory workers protested for gay rights. Love yall together. Happy new year Carly to you and you family. Stay safe and i hope your Christmas is magical! 🫶💙🫶
watched attentively till the last second
omfg i needed this sooooo f bad!!!!!
