Just wait for it to release on UA-cam and check the dislikes. If the video has a lot of dislikes, you know he liked it. But seriously, he actually had a great talk after the game...which is rare for this game and it was great listen.
Basically said he enjoyed the game, but there were some things about it he didn't like. Liked the combat more in part 2, liked the story and character development more in part 1. Even someone like Anthony who pretty much adores this franchise and has spent thousands of hours speed running it, was taken aback by playing this game and had to spend 2 hours collecting his thoughts about what he just experienced once the credits started rolling. Said it was the story they had to do, but didn't know how he truly felt about it and needed more time to reflect on it. From what I remember, that's pretty much the gist of what he was saying once he finished the playthrough on stream. Pretty much my feelings too. I don't agree with the story choices Naughty Dog made for this game, especially it's ending and not for reasons you may think. But that's ok and it's their game. I'm OK with her showing mercy towards Abby. What I'm not OK with is just how fucking bitter the ending is. It's not bittersweet. It's just bitter and hopeless feeling. Ellie loses everything and she's forced to live out her worst fear of being alone. And she leaves the guitar behind which was her last tangible connection to Joel. I would've much rather had the last scene be a little more optimistic to off-set just how sad and depressing the game is and how emotionally draining of a journey it was. Maybe they could've showed her walking back towards the gates of Jackson with the sun setting or something, so at least we KNOW she's going home and can start trying to pick up the pieces of her life and doesn't have to be alone. For all we know that's where she's going but we never see that and I don't know... The foundation of the Last of Us is Ellie and Joel. Joel dies, and Ellie comes out the biggest loser in this sequel. It just feels a little too bleak. Don't think the game is a master piece. I don't even think it's 9/10 or whatever the critics are panning it. The combat is great. The attention to detail is great. The set pieces and visuals are fantastic. But the story and pacing leaves a lot to be desired and I think that fact is always going to make this game infamous and divisive among the gaming community at large. It's a good game... it just doesn't meet the same bar set by the original. All I can really say. I just think that what naughty dog was trying to do with the Abby story didn't hit the mark with most people. It didn't land for me how I'm sure they wanted it to land when they came up with the story. I never truly cared about her like I did Ellie or Joel. Not even close. Never really felt any empathy towards her and it's mainly because your very first impression of her is her brutally torturing and murdering a beloved main character. It's extremely difficult to come back from that.
RetroCNY I completely agree with you that the pacing is the main weakness of the game. The tone is also excessively dark, but I very much believe this is meant to be the “dark middle chapter” of a trilogy and when/if Druckman gets to make his third game that ends Ellie’s arc (but probably not the universe’s story), and this game becomes part of a larger story it will be more acceptable. I do give it a 9/10 because I think that the fact that the attempt to show players another perspective received so much pushback is a strong indication that it was a worthy endeavor, and I think even the game’s “failure” to create empathy likely was valuable.

@@mattygregg6747 While I agree a simple revenge plot could work greatly as a story, and so many other games have done it, I found this game to be a bit flat in its story telling. While sure Joel may have "had to die", most people agree on that, but the way it happens is so toneless. It's a classic example of a Macguffin, 'something happening for the sake of plot,' which is bad story-telling. @@peko3050 people have proboem with (spoiler alert by the way) . . . How they killed Joel, Now while i get that he shoud have been more carefull and not say his name, abby did kinda help him and Tommy just like they helped her. They were welcomed nicely and they even offered them a drink or something. There was no reason to not say his name but whatever even if he said his name for no reason I dont mind it because if for example she just knew how he looked and shot him because of that the outcome would be the same. Just because he made some out of character thing doesnt mean the whole game is now ruined. I feel people would find a way to hate Joel's death however it was made because people love character so much but that is not games fault really, it made sense for him to die. People also have a big problem with ending wich when you say it in one sentance it sounds ultra stupid but when you play trough the game in the end (at least this is for me) you dont want to kill abby. You realise she also has a life and you took a lot from her and she did what she wanted and when you came at the end for her, ellie didnt want to kill her because she wanted to but she came to kill her to have peace. And when she got it, when she defeated abby she got it, she felt that she avenged Joel, she had peace. And abby at that point is nothing but a helpless human being. She allowed her to leave and live with the boy. For me ending was good and I was satisfied, but i think it would be nice if you had option on what to do. Kill her or not. That way i feel that every player would be satisfied.
A lot of stuff in her room changed in the 4 years. The mini arcade cabinet got moved to a lower shelf, the lava lamp was working in the past but no longer has any gel in it, etc. Not just new stuff added but all the old stuff (except Sam's toy which she kept prominent) got moved around.
My favorite part about my firs play through is the first time in the theatre. If you go to where the bar is on the second floor and in the back left corner of the by the railing, there are multiple camera angles that unload a lot of graphics and it was absolutely hilarious when I found it.😂
Just finished my first playthrough of this game today and I'm super excited to watch Ant's playthrough and opinion on the game. And hopefully, eventually, speed runs of this game.
Thank you for uploading this. I'm tired of people talking about Pewdiepie's playthrough of the game. I need to see a real fan without making off-hand comments and exaggerated expressions to entertain people play this masterpiece.
@@soccerracso Pewdiepie doesn't speak for gamers or the majority of people who play this game. Pewdiepie gave up his gaming roots a long time ago, he has no place trying to tear this game down. Ant explains his problems with the game and you'll see it eventually if you didn't watch it live. But he also understands the story because he wasn't in a blind rage at Joel dying the entire game, missing everything the game is trying to say. There's a lot to be misunderstood about this game's story because no game has done it really. The game's not a masterpiece, and you can choose to dislike the story. But it's wrong to call it objectively bad, and it's wrong to review bomb the game with 0's on the first day of release because people's favorite character died. Lack of fan service is one of the reasons I love this game.
@@soccerracso pewdiepie was clouded. he was already expecting the writing to be bad because that was what people told him. You could see this when he was making fun of the good parts of writing in the game.
@@Thxrz story wasnt garbage. The story was really good when they weren't focusing on Abby. If this game had only shown the flashback of abby's dad instead of the 10 hours this game would not be receiving nearly as much hate as it is. Also the ending was brilliant despite what people say. I honestly think it was the best part of the game. I was able to forgive the Abby section after seeing how disturbing those 10 hours made the final section.
Well Ant isn't gonna say anything bad about the game he's gonna be playing for the next 5 years. So there is gonna be a little bit held back from Ant. He's been very diplomatic about it all so far.
Finally, a game did the opposite of what fans expected. I don't understand why predictability is what people crave. Ellie and Joel walking into the sunset is clearly not what was supposed to happen. Get a grip, this is supposed to be a hostile, horrible world that they live in. Its just being realistic.
That's not what anyone wanted though. They wanted the story to revolve more so around Joel and Ellie. Noone is mad that Joel died. Theyre mad at HOW he died. Like a weak little bitch instead of something true to his character like protecting Ellie.
@@shinebox4597 And I didn't necessarily say it was good. I thought it was uncomfortable as hell to play, but I credit the creators for making me feel that way. Ive played the Last of Us probably 20+ times. I loved it. This is just a different type of game. What im really confused with, is that fans knew it was going to be darker, and they are still upset about it. Ellie clearly lost someone she cared about in the trailer. It is clearly a revenge story. Who on earth would she care more about than anyone? Joel. I suppose that the way he died also pissed a lot of people off, but Im surprised and impressed that they had the balls to do it in that way. I loved the shock. Call me a sadist, but I want to be shocked and terrified while playing a post apocalyptic game. It tore at the heartstrings. Game of Thrones did the same thing with like 50% of its main characters.
Spicoli Yeah I understand that some people like that sort of thing, and that's cool. Got to give ND credit for trying to do things differently even if it didn't resonate with everyone
not sure if/when you'll see this, I noticed with certain scenes only because it's the ps4/pro, these systems do not have a SSD(unless otherwise replaced with an SSD) and there's so much more to load that it may actually be faster for certain scenes to just play out instead of trying to skip a cinematic.
agreed. you can really feel the influence of uncharted action set pieces in this one.. one thing I wasn't expecting was all the boss fights! not only that, but the technical structure of the game, how we bounce between Abby and Ellie and all different times and places.. it's innovative and ambitious, yet again ND did the impossible and tops their catalogue with a new definitive title..
I also found that I wasn’t getting plus signed all that often but when it did happed I didn’t feel all that inconvenienced by it. This might change for speed runs though.

I've finished it two days ago and I still think about everything that happened, and cry. Two more trophies and I get the plat but I am not ready for a second playthrough yet. People say that the story is crap and that this game is not even worth playing but they say this because they wanted this game to tell a story that is not true. Anyway, thanks for this video, Anthony. You deserve all the best!
To hell with anyone that makes fun of you for crying or voicing your opinion. Most people are blinded for their love for Joel that they're stuck in the anger stage of the grieving process and form biased opinions that lash out at the game or creators. It is okay to not like the game, but a lot of the comments stem from hatred. Pay no mind. Thanks for sharing.
Lorenzo J.B. Marcon that’s so true. People hate the game because they were wanting it to be like a movie where all the characters that you love either survive, or have a really dramatic death. But that’s not what’d happen really. Anyone you love or care about can be gone in a matter of seconds.
they can hate it all they want, that's fine, people have different taste. But to call the story trash or 0/10 because they don't like what happened while at the same time wishing this was a lame revenge story where you kill everybody and go home, that's BS, not an opinion. Story wise, what ND did is more interesting. Now, does this game is worth playing that's an other question. I get that people might not want to play ( for fun, since it's a game ) such a grim game with this sad ending that leaves you empty. One might argue that revenge/hate as a theme was the problem, not how it's handled.
It didn't even download for me before the release, for some reason. It even glitched out when it released, and there was nothing on the media bar, and no play/download button in the store. It was maybe 30 mins after release before I even started downloading. Anyone else have that problem?

Now while i get that he shoud have been more carefull and not say his name, abby did kinda help him and Tommy just like they helped her.
Yeah the translation setting is so they can have signs and notes that are just drawn textures, not fonts. They just translate it as a pop-up.
anthony’s face while ellie and dina makeout: 👁_👁
He really doesn't care for a first playthrough does he play for story or only Speedrun ?
Moustiboy he cares about story
I have never found watching someone flip through settings so entertaining!
It will take you a lil longer with this one
My favirote part was during the snowball fight he said where's the button to grab them and put a knife through there troaght 🤣😂🤣😂
24:30 done with settings
Thx
26:05 joel: 🙁
Anthony:😃
Did you notice it was Gustavo Santoalla with the dog and playing the banjo in Jackson?
53:12 “You got fuckin’ old”
I thought that was a soundboard cause it sounded exactly like Tommy from the first game.
You saying “hi 😃” to everyone makes me happy idk why
A lot of stuff in her room changed in the 4 years. The mini arcade cabinet got moved to a lower shelf, the lava lamp was working in the past but no longer has any gel in it, etc. Not just new stuff added but all the old stuff (except Sam's toy which she kept prominent) got moved around.
My favorite part about my firs play through is the first time in the theatre. If you go to where the bar is on the second floor and in the back left corner of the by the railing, there are multiple camera angles that unload a lot of graphics and it was absolutely hilarious when I found it.😂
I love this game so much. Glad to see your uploading your first gameplay ant. Cant wait to see more!
It broke my heart to watch this man change his buttons
36:08 you can see Sam’s toy on the shelf in the background
OMG
i come back and rewatch these episodes cause i love this game and your playthrough is my favorite! much love!
51:26 lol Gustavo Santaolalla just went over his head xD
Ive been waiting for this. I'm anticipating ALL of Anthony's views and opinions on this.
Joel looks at the doctor. Tony whispers: I'll kill him a lil faster than that. I just died.
and it begins
"Never gonna play"
Game: can't play
Is Maria gonna block the door?... I'm dying
"Doubt there will be any triangle prompts in this area..."
Little does he know, nor I for that matter, Jackson has so many
Where? I didn’t see any other than the restaurant they went into or the one for petting buckly
not really, there are just a lot of optional conversations you can explore
@@pievancl5457 yeah fair enough I’ve played the game way more now and know like all of the pick-up locations aha thank you anyways though
40:03 when people leak storylines and try to convince people that a great game is bad before playing it.
26:05 that “hi Joel” I reacted the same way.
I feel robin gaming did the same. It felt like he let chat dictate his views on the game.
It's awesome that your mom texted you to let you know about the audio lol
Number one fan!
Bleak, gritty, dark "realism" doesn't automatically make something good, contrary to popular belief
One of my fave parts was when you playing as Abbie and Tommy sniping you. It’s such a well put together section
Bet he was thinking “let’s analyse the entire game” and proceeded to go in the settings for 20 minutes god I already love this
Now i wait for The Last of Us 2 speedrun :DD
This game is amazing. Especially the huge fight sequences in Day 2. So fun
agreed. you can really feel the influence of uncharted action set pieces in this one.. one thing I wasn't expecting was all the boss fights! not only that, but the technical structure of the game, how we bounce between Abby and Ellie and all different times and places.. it's innovative and ambitious, yet again ND did the impossible and tops their catalogue with a new definitive title..
I only got a plus sign once with Dina and it’s on my second playthrough
I also found that I wasn’t getting plus signed all that often but when it did happed I didn’t feel all that inconvenienced by it. This might change for speed runs though.
Andrew Baker What is the plus sign you’re referring to? I haven’t started a NG+ yet so sorry if this is a stupid question.
Talking about the red one in gameplay where an ally is grabbed. A red plus sign appears where on your ally.
Andrew Baker Ahh ok! On Hard that probably happened to me about half a dozen times
@@Noah-Lach I think they mean when your companion needs help.
Go get that WR! 🔥👏🏽👊🏽
Hey there Dek
damian_ antay hey there
Dekon - The Last of Us 2 wsp dek
Crazy how it took him 5+ hours to play the full game and then somehow his speed runs get that time down to 2-3hrs total, crazy
I just figured out that mashing dodge/dash is a little bit faster than her jog. So you don't have to jump, but the dodge is quicker.
I predict sub 5 hours in 1 month
5 hours? Hmmm, idk about that man
Илья Abby was really cool
Илья Abby is a bad ass and I don’t know what there is to hate about her Joel was a dick and you only like him because you played as him
Jonah Brown why? Tell me you are just denying it. Give me your opinion.
@@genericname6349 How is she a badass, and why is Joel a dick? Everything most of the people do in the world of tlou, is to survive (excluding crazy cults for example). Abby and Joel both do shitty things, but it's all for survival, at least usually lol
What I really love about this is that you mother is suporting you and watching you play. :0)
Just watched your GDQ LoU+DLC run. Excellent run well done!
I hope u like it. I LOVED this game.
Yo anthony, i am a fan of your amazing streams. Keep up the good work🙌🙌
1:13:38 haha I did the same thing, tried to change the hold to tap but I couldnt xD
25.39 is when he starts playing
YES! I've been waiting for this!🥳
Skip to 25:00 if you dont want to see him messing around in the settings. Good vid, love your optimism.
1:57:00 I actually thought when it said "My Good Boy" meant his or her son. Cared more about a Dog than a Son. Because there was a Kid there. Did it on my NG+ Run because i missed it the first time.
Beautiful game.
@@JWNam98 nope i mean it. Loved it. Does not understand the hate where you grade a game 0/10 after playing ut for 2 hrs and your favourite characters dies.
850617and
well, it's all subjective
if you liked it im glad to hear it
it appears it wasnt satisfying for most of people though... including me...
@@JWNam98 nah, most people who actually played it with an open mind liked it. Review-bombing incels usually don't like good things
Can't wait for the "Blind Grounded Speedrun" category, with all the new settings for the disabled persons.
Man, you can call me whatever you want, and say that TLOU 2 is a piece of junk but this game made me cry so bad.
I've finished it two days ago and I still think about everything that happened, and cry.
Two more trophies and I get the plat but I am not ready for a second playthrough yet.
People say that the story is crap and that this game is not even worth playing but they say this because they wanted this game to tell a story that is not true. Revenge, angriness, don't take you anywhere.
I understand their point of view and respect that. We need different opinions and points os view to get better, to build a better world.
Yay finally the video is back on youtube again
The goat is back👀
You are such a nerd just like me!!!! Love it Anthony!!!!
Funny moment: 22:30
Actual start: 25:31
The first speedruns of this game is gonna be wild, probably 5+ hour runs for a good attempt.
The man at 51:20 is gustavo santollala, the music director for tlou
can't wait for Anthony to discover things we didnt know the about the game ... hopefully that will make the game better
Gameplay starts at 25:00
Time to waste another 25 hours of my life watching my favourite streamer play my favourite game
It didn't even download for me before the release, for some reason. It even glitched out when it released, and there was nothing on the media bar, and no play/download button in the store. It was maybe 30 mins after release before I even started downloading. Anyone else have that problem?
It's so nice to able to comment again
My molotov took out about 3 or 4 here. I just waited until two or three were near each other, then one or two additional others ran to the fire.
i'm so glad i can watch you play this game. i first experienced the last of us with cryaotic's let's play, and had been looking forward to him playing the second one for a long time. with recent events i don't feel comfortable supporting him anymore, so it's wonderful that i have someone else i can experience the game with. your passion for the series is wonderful and i know this will be a great ride!
Oh my god. When you were looking to change the sensitivity and you passed the sensitivity options twice, I almost had an aneurysm. 😂
Waited for your playtrough😁
i've been waiting a long time for this run through!! LETS GO
you missed a card in the pub at the beginning it is at the back
I can't wait for the HBO series. Could top Game of Thrones as my favorite recent HBO series.
Just hope they don’t fuck it up if they was to make a tv series.
I totally loved the game and the storyline, and now that I'm done with it, I'm very excited to watch your reactions and hear your opinion about the story...
Nice to know you're finally playing this game, been waiting for your strats
My english bad, but i watch your content anyway. tnx
Anthony, did you avoid spoiler/leaks during the pre release hype? Did you have any idea where the story was heading?
"Abby kills Joel with a golf club." That's all I knew. I didn't even know when it happened and never actually saw it.
@@AnthonyCaliber Thanks for the speedy response. Looking forward to seeing your final thoughts when I catch up on this series!
Hey, sup! Why not turn on HDR? Thanks for your content!)
it will probably take longer to speedrun the settings than the actual game for anthony
Molotovs - actually, they do gather around it 'cause I did the same thing you did, I just may have waited a couple more seconds for them to gather before throwing the molly. :)
