  • These two albums are from the Five Spot club in NYC recorded in 1958. These Acoustic Sounds releases from the Thelonious Monk box set 'The Riverside Tenor Sessions' are Monk's first live recordings. How do they sound? Join me as I drop the needle!

Enjoy your reviews! My question is most jazz channels and reviews are focused on the jazz from the 50s. 60s, and some jazz music from the 70s. All the pioneers of jazz. Is new jazz music from new artists dead?? Jazz being made today is not seen on channels Your feelings????

@@davepounds8924 you are right. Most are not reviewing modern jazz. I still do. If you go back through my episodes I have reviewed many new releases. I have more to come. Thanks for commenting.

I wonder if the heightened audience noise of Misterioso might have something to do with how much more pronounced Ahmed’s bass sounds than on the In Action recording with less audience ambiance. Coincidence? Change in mic position?

@@wakingupfromhistory7474 interesting for sure. From what I read the recording is from the same session. Maybe they just mixed it differently
