Karate Kid was a big influence on me doing martial arts in my 20s, I'm now in my 60s and still have a soft spot for the whole franchise and the tv series..Peace
Aww man Ralph smiling and nearly getting teary eyed watching this back, can tell their relationship was a real art immitating life thing and he's remebring his old friend and their times together 😁❤️
It will be a travesty if we do not get some form of more Ralph Macchio & William Zabka on screen; these two gents have an amazing chemistry together and it's been a joy to watch on Cobra Kai
There are exactly 3 movies that shaped my childhood and continues to move me as an adult. Obviously, The Karate Kid, but also the 1989 Batman and the first Ninja Turtles. Looking back, i realized that those movies gave my first real look into ethics and philosophy.
Happy 40th. Anniversary on the release of "The Karate Kid!" Such a great movie! Thanks to the performances of both Ralph Macchio and the late, great Pat Morita! ✌️😎🎊🎉
I was born in '84. I turn 40 next month. These movies were part of my first years on this earth and they've stayed with me the whole time too. The show has been like soul food for me. It takes me right back to the earliest memories I have in life and helps unlock parts of my early childhood I'd completely forgotten about or at least stuffed back in the deepest crevasses of my brain. Seeing the audition footage really made me smile knowing that was the real beginning of something that's been there my whole life. And seeing Pat was wonderful. His portrayal of Mr. Miyagi is one of the bedrock fictional characters of my life time. Any new tidbit of that character being portrayed is a blessing now that he's gone.
SECOND EVEN THO I SAW FIRST BEFORE BUT SEEING RALPH REACTING HIS YOUNG SELF IS REALLY A LEGENDARY!!! I LOVE HIM AND DANIEL SM!! KARATE KID AND COBRA KAI 4 LIFE!!! 🫶😎🔥
Greetings from Scotland. I was 12 when Karate Kid came out (51 now) and had just started Karate due to the influence of Bruce Lee in Enter The Dragon. Before going to Karate I would watch the ending of Enter the Dragon and the end of Karate Kid so I was super pumped up for my Karate lesson. (Ah the good old days!!) Then, when I was 14, I came back from holiday in Jersey and had £20 spending money left and Karate Kid 2 had just dropped at my local cinema and ran for 2 weeks. It was £1 for me to get in and I went every single night to the cinema to watch Karate Kid II and every single night I got the same uphoria watching it. Rented Karate Kid & Karate Kid II god knows how many times from the video shop and have watched it so many times now with my son and daugher who also are obsesed with KK & KKII and now we all watch Cobra Kai. The nostalgia is pure dripping out of Cobra Kai and I remember nearly bursting into tears at the introduction of Yuji Okumotto reprising his role as Chozen as I was absolutely awe struck by his character. Chozen has to be the best, most inspiring and lovable rogue that Daniel encountered and loved how well Yuji played his part. He was a nasty piece of work but couldn't help love the guy. Was the same when Daniel re-encountered John Barnes and the fight that ensued with Barnes & Chozen which turned out really funny with poor Dan Dan stuck in the middle trying to defuse the situation/misunderstanding and Chozen saying "If this is musunderstanding, then better call ambulance" as he had beat the Sh!t out of Barnes workers. Long Live Cobra Kai...NO MERCY!!
Too bad they seem to have been unsuccessful so far in bringing her on board. Would have been nice to bridge the two stories. Maybe have Johnny shed some light on "I'm sorry, who the hell is she?"
That movie was written for you, I can’t imagine anyone else playing that part! IMO if they had cast someone else in the Cobra Kai movies, I doubt they would be so amazing!
It will be sad to see Cobra Kai come to an end after this last series, I loved watching karate kid growing up, I hope that Ralph does something else to do with Karate kid after the final series of cobra Kai and I have loved watching the trailers for this coming series and can't wait for it to start. Miyagi Do Karate. You remember lesson about balance. r.i.p Pat.
Ralph was really good in this audition, he didn't push any emotion and was really present in the scene. Ralph was so iconic as Daniel in the first two Karate Kids films.
So true about it appealing to all ages. I’m just a little younger than Ralph Macchio and I watched Cobra Kai with my preteen son. So great to find a show we could enjoy together! Oh- and as a kid I had such a crush on Ralph!! ❤
I remember when the Karate Kid series came out! I will never forget those films and how much I truly loved them. I have seen them so many times that I know all the words by memory. Truly magical!! Ralph Macchio is my favorite actor of all time. I love every movie he has ever done that I have had the privilege to see. My all time favorite movie is Karate Kid Part 2, the cinematography, the atmosphere, the scenery, the screen play, the acting, the music, it was all just so mesmerizing. So many of us have loved Ralph from afar. I have always hoped that your life has been a wonderful one and wanted to thank you for sharing your wonderful gift and self with all of us!!
I love this guy the Karate kid is a colt classic there will never be a movie like it ever this movie stands the test of time just like Rocky another great movie
At 60 yrs old, I was elated to learn about the resurrection of the Karate Kid thru Cobra Kai. All the characters have done it justice! Ralph is an excellent version of his younger Larusso.
So impressive to see that video today, it means so much to me and confirms how good you where for this role. Your impact on my personality is huge. I started my first martial lesson with your film, later did kickboxing and have a martial arts mind set today. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The chemistry between Pat Morita and Ralph Macchio was evident immediately. I nearly lost it about halfway through when they put Ralph back on the screen and you can see it in the draw of his face and in his eyes that he was holding back getting choked up during the lines when Mr Miyagi is really starting to focus in on being a role model and caregiver. I've never seen these auditions before and it explains a lot about what we saw on screen and even more importantly why the story that sprang from this relationship endures.
One of my fave childhood movies, and had a crush on him back then.❤🤣Can’t quite remember, but I think I saw this in the theaters. And many times on tv, since then.❤. Great actors, Ralph Macchio and Pat Morris!
Karate Kid is great movie, good story, good message it presents the world as it ought to be rather than as it is, which is rare for a film. Also, dare I say that there is a chemistry there between all the actors. Dare I say like Star Wars? Karate Kid still energizes me to practice my Shotokan and Kajukenbo. Thanks!
Oh my first crush ever, Ralph Macchio! :D He always looked so incredibly younger than he really is. This time of the audition he was about 21 y\o, but he looked like 14 :) And still does not look 62!!! Such a talent. This role was written to him for sure, nobody could have played this better.
You are wonderful and handsome and you still looks young and strong, don't worry.❤❤❤ from Aguascalientes México. When I saw the serie in UA-cam Premium I felt excited and screeeeam. After that, inmediatly went with my young son and daughter and showed this... THEY LOVE IT TOO. I'm 60 Years old and I have a young heart too. And William... oh-My- God! So handsome! Atractivo y guapo and he rocks.
Underrated actor. Amazing audition. No wonder he got it.
Karate Kid was a big influence on me doing martial arts in my 20s, I'm now in my 60s and still have a soft spot for the whole franchise and the tv series..Peace
Same here, started martial arts after seeing this movie. Changed my life.

This is crazy! 40 years ago!
It blows my mind. Time flies is such an understatement.
Pat was so amazing. Watching this made me tear up.
Unbelievable audition, the spark, the magic was already there between Ralph and Pat. Made me cry a little to be honest.
Bro the natural flow of emotion is so perfect. Truly some of the best casting in Hollywood!!!!
Karate Kid will forever be a staple classic in my heart! So wonderful!

Cannot agree MORE!
Luckily only 1 more week to wait. I want to wait until the whole season is out, but probably won't be able to.
He's in his 20s in this audition. He could pass for 11.
The OG Cobra Kai UA-cam channel is coming back to life 🎉❤
It only died when they stopped having the episodes for free here on YT where we revived the franchise a few years ago.
I, hope so❤
Probably one of the most genuine reaction videos on UA-cam.
5:02 “Karate Kid for 40 years, it’s just, it’s hard to say out loud…since I’m only in my mid-30’s!” The timeless Ralph Macchio, ladies and gentlemen!
Ralph Macchio, thank you SO MUCH for waiting until the right time and people came along, and then bringing this property back so FIERCE! Love you 🩷
You can see how emotional Ralph got viewing this, even I shed a few tears.
No, Ralph Macchio, thank YOU for the wonderful moments over the past 40 years.
mid way through i forgot i was watching an audition, Ralph and Pat were made for this role
Omg, my childhood! Thank you guys!

40 yrs. Wow, time does fly by fast. Pat Morita is an amazing actor, good & kind man. Miss him very much. ❤️
One of the best series...
Worst series ever
Series?
1 and 2 only... the rest no
Pat was the grandpa to all 80's kids.
The 80s was the best decade overall...

The peak
Half of it was inspired by the 70's. The other half was the inspiration for the 90's.

Ralph talks about this in his autobiography "Waxing On". I highly recommend that book, it's incredible. He does NOT look like he's 62. Jesus...

This made me cry. The movie poster in my living room serves as a daily reminder of the magic. Thank you for this. 🙏
You can see it in their auditions they nailed it.
beautiful 40 years and I still get emocional with that movie....
Ralph looking so good for his age. Team Miyagi ❤

She’s 100% there in Season 6, make no mistake.
As this movie gets older, I get older. '84 baby! Yeah!
I never thought I was going to be this huge karate kid fan, and I'm very proud of it
Yo...I'm 1:30 in the video and tearing up at the sight of Miyagi. And this music isn't helping. I miss Pat Morita.

It does thanks to the writers who prefer and fanboy over Miyagi Do

My sister and I are in our 40s and love the movies and the series. We have been watching the series with her teenage son and he loves it
Now they should show Billy and Marty reacting to their auditions.
Great idea x

Wow 40 years that's crazy to think about aside from that ralph looked upset watching this wishing that pat was still alive and on ck
No one else could have played that role. I feel so lucky and grateful that I grew up with Karate Kid and all the other great 80's movies.
Ralph is a very very very good actor... So calm and real.
Must be a little hard for Ralph to watch these audition tapes, it brings some good memories he had with his friend, Pat. RIP Pat Morita.

Ralph always had expressive eyes. So endearing.
The chemistry was electric between Pat Morita & Macchio, right from the start !!
Ralph was 48 when he auditioned for Karate Kid.
A decade later: Karate Kid cast react to their 'Karate Kid' Auditions for the 50th anniversary
Awesome movie, kids wanted to be "the karate kid" when we came out of the theater. I was about 8 years old back then.
Your amazing Ralph you made my life complete bro. I have a signed headband of you and I cherish it. Thank you bro !!!
Ralph is such a darn good actor. Love that guy!
Love watching this audition, thank you for sharing!
Pat Morita was so good in this, and Ralph Macchio fit the role perfectly. Good stuff.
Watching Pat Morita as Miyagi brought tears to my eyes. Remembering both of them, actor and character.

Favorite movie growing up and what an amazing series this has become! Hate to see it end 😢
Wow this makes my heart warm! ❤️
still watch the movies again and again, it has something ..... perfect
What a GREAT script though. Top notch writers for this show.
I think Ralph was also getting caught up watching Pat. So many beautiful memories I'm sure. Started martial arts after this movie
Its weird he's 21 and looks 15
He still looks 15! 😂🤣😃😄😎😎😉 I am 61 and look it. 😢🤤😔
20
There's a lot of people in the world that look 5-6 years younger at that age. So, the only thing weird is your comment
Karate Kid is great movie, good story, good message it presents the world as it ought to be rather than as it is, which is rare for a film. This video was incredibly special. They had to have known right then and there that the two of them were meant to be together in this movie
Thank you for everything!
Ralph macchio's younger version.Looks like that could be the current version's son looking at it side by side.
Oh my first crush ever, Ralph Macchio! :D He always looked so incredibly younger than he really is. This time of the audition he was about 21 y\o, but he looked like 14 :) And still does not look 62!!!

You can see the memories of Pat Morita in Ralph’s eyes as he watches this.
