    Thanks for all your videos. I finally got the surfskate pump working tonight. It was such a great feeling and a real breakthrough. It's kind of like that magic eye puzzle where you stare at it for a long time, then you finally see the image. I was stuck doing the wiggle pump and getting kind of frustrated. I watched this video a few times and went through the steps. I finally feel how your hips drive your back heel on the heelside and push the toe on the toeside (and you kind of pull your back leg back). I appreciate you including the "don't do this" section of this video, as that's exactly what had been stuck doing - doing all the work with my front foot. Now I am driving the board with my back foot. I'm 50 years old and never skated before. Never had any interest in street or ramp skating, but I saw surfskating on youtube and decided it looked fun. I've watched a bunch of videos, and they all make it look magically easy, but as you said in one of yours, it's harder than it looks. It's a great feeling, and I look forward to smoothing out my turns.

    Thanks you for taking the time to make and publish this video. It’s really nice that you decomposed the movement in all these steps. I believe this not only help do the infinity loop some day, but also have a better understanding of how to actually pump correctly in a surfskate. I agree with another commenter that using a different kind of music might help with making the video more fun and catchy to watch. Anyhow thanks for putting in the time and effort, it’s greatly appreciated. Subscribing now ;-)

    Hi Shane, had you got the opportunity to compare the 4President 77a you use here vs 80a ? Does the rolling ability and acceleration difference is significative on flat training as you do on this video ? I use 4President 80a on Soulboardiy Meda, with Slide trucks, enough grip for me, but as i look into smaller diameter wheels to do the same practice, i think about softer duro. Maybe a great choice is to put 77a on rear truck and 80a in front, did you ever mixed different duros front/rear ?

    I'm waiting fo my Soulboardiy Adam and going to try to set up with a pair of Surf Rodz TKP 159mm on a YOW S5 adapter and using a Mellow drive electric back truck system. I'm literally Surfing 🌊 on my electric system on Bowls and pool skatepark transitions. Presently on Carver CX and that's sick so stable. So much fun that I'm like do I go Surf or do I go to the Skatepark today 😊 my biggest problem is to get enough grib and not get thrown off the freaking thing.

    Hey Shane, really like your videos. I am a pro tennis coach and I think you are a really good teacher because you explore so many avenues to helping others to understand how to perform certain movements. I would like it if you could do some infinity loops on
    a Carver CX or similar. Keep up the good work. I saw that you had tried surfing, great fun isn't it. Before I moved to Denmark I lived in Hawaii and surfed, it is just the best fun 🙂🏄.

    Thanks for the video. One question! What does it mean by avoiding letting the surfskate system generate speed for you?

    • @shanelai2515
      @shanelai2515  2 роки тому +2

      The rebound of the spring on some surfskate systems is very strong. One can be relying too much on it

    Where is your center of gravity exactly when you turn and stuff? Is it more on your back foot?

    • @shanelai2515
      @shanelai2515  Рік тому

      The centre of mass shifts throughout the turn. It starts on the front foot, gradually shifts to the back foot until the the last moment where you decompress (front, mid, back>decompress)
